"Overall it's a good hostel in a nice part of Dunedin. The bathrooms could have been cleaner. Also going downstairs to the reception/bar did get a bit annoying. The common room/kitchen is the best part of the hostel. Very comfortable with plenty of space to cook, relax, and meet other travelers. "

"Good. We staying in Dunedin to watch kids sports. Accommodation good and price reasonable. Location good as handy to octagon and night life. Staff very helpful. Facilities good. however and know this out of hotel's control outlook from windows not that flash. There are some surrounding buildings that need demolished, upgraded. That would be the only negative"

"Excellent location. Well conserved and maintained building both in and outside. We booked in a superior twin for a family of 4. Spacious room with 2 queen's beds were enough to stay in feeling easy. Bathroom was clean. WiFi was strong. Breakfast was very good. I really love the elevator of Worldwar age that was still in good service. I really much appreciate this hotel and will definitely come back again if I have a chance to come to Dunedin again."

"Our stay at Victoria Hotel in Dunedin was as usual absolutley lovely. Very enjoyable, with the most obliging staff where nothing is a problem. When we go to Dunedin the Victoria Hotel is Always our prefered place to stay, as we know that it is always spotless, warm and very comfortable. The Victoria Hotel is situated very close to town and between two major supermarkets, so very convient! It is also a stones throw away from the hospital which makes it excellent if you have someone in there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Victoria Hotel to any of my friends. Thank You Victoria Hotel for making our stay a wonderful one. "

"Wish we could have stayed longer. Unfortunately we had limited time with, so much to see and do, in our short holiday around the beautiful South Island of New Zealand. The hotel room was very well equipped. The staff were very friendly and helpful with directions for getting around town. We didn't have time for breakfast but our view of the dining area showed there was plenty of delicious buffet to choose from. We look forward to visiting again and hopefully, a longer stay in Dunedin."

"everywhere i usually stay in dunedin was booked out and was therefore "forced" into seeking accommodation with a higher price tag than i usually do. given this, i then expected more than what i usually receive, and i was not at all disappointed. in fact, i would very definitely return again, despite a higher than normal (for me) tariff. speaking of tariff, however, do check very carefully what you are being actually charged against what the motel is offering. i found the agency through which i booked (on line), had misquoted the actual tariff by 50%, so i spent a great deal more than was expected. despite the expense, the motel is absolute value for money, particularly if you get an upstairs spa studio. when i first arrived, the roadside sign announced it as an “econo lodge”. having stayed in many of these while travelling in the united states, the room (which is actually a series of rooms) was very well furnished with a leather lounge suite (all recliners), very stylish table and chairs, mobile television set and queen size bed (amongst other items). adding to the unique atmosphere was a loft bedroom (a first (and wonderful) experience for me). the unit also had a balcony, as well as a separate bathroom and toilet. the bathroom (which is separated from the toilet has an enormous spa bath, from which you can soak and watch television at the same time. now that (for me anyway) is luxury. the guest information booklet is also very informative. there is a 24 hour general supplies shop right across the road, but dunedin’s main shopping centre is a mere 10 minutes’ walk away, where retail outlets and restaurants abound. it may take a great deal longer, therefore, than ten minutes to reach the city centre given the many diversions you are likely to make.
