"I am elderly (87 to be precise) and not in the best of health. I'd travelled with my daughter and son in law from Surrey, a good five hours, not counting breaks for food and drink, and felt shattered when we arrived. I was disappointed to learn that I'd been given an upstairs room. My family and the manager, Denise Brown, carried all my luggage upstairs and I unpacked before having a rest. However, Denise was so concerned with the state of my distressed breathing that she did everything she could to get me a downstairs room. She eventually managed to locate a young couple who had room no 1 downstairs and asked them if they'd be willing to swap rooms with me. Thankfully, they said yes, so once again, she and my family packed my bags and settled me into the ground floor room. I felt that Denise Brown had gone to extreme lengths to cater to my needs and definitely needs to be commended most highly. She was friendly and helpful in many ways and is a total asset to the Days Inn, Durham."

"The hotel looked lovely but we were disappointed in the quality of food and service in the buffet breakfast/carvery restaurant. The rib room served good food and the service too. We had a dreadful night on the saturday being woken several times by wedding guests from the function room racing around the corridors, banging doors and shouting. When i mentioned this to the desk clerk in the morning she said that the night porter did have a bad night but nobody considered compensating us for a poor nights sleep! "
