Nest Hotel Hiroshima Hatchobori
Hiroshima,Hiroshima - View on map
"We had a great stay at Nest. Naturally it is spotless and fresh being new but it was also in a great location, very close to transport and only two stops from the main station plus very close to shops and restaurants and well as easy access to all the sights. Was travelling with a friend who was also impressed. Probably the best hotel we stayed in in Japan over a 2 week period. "

Rihga Royal Hotel Hiroshima
Hiroshima,Hiroshima - View on map
"This is a Very Convenient hotel near all major sighteseeing spots in Hiroshima. Comfortable rooms with excellent breakfast buffet (delicious !) but same food every day for the last 6 days. Our room at high floor overlooking the Hiroshima Castle and the city of Hiroshima, which was excellent and splendid. The location is 2 mins walk to Hiroshima Bus station which has all transportations needed to all the japan major cities and airport express. The hotel is near to Sogo and major shopping arcades. The one weakness is that only 2 electric plugs available in the room. Other than that the hotel is excellent."

THE KNOT HIROSHIMA
Hiroshima,Hiroshima - View on map
"This hotel had a beautiful presentation in the lobby, bar, and restaurant. The rooms were sparkling and new, but very tight. The staff was great and spoke English! Location is excellent, a stones throw from the Peace Park, shopping, and restaurants. I never eat at the hotel restaurant, but I am sure glad I did. It was one of the most exceptional meals I’ve had in Japan. "

APA Hotel Hiroshima-Ekimae Ohashi
Hiroshima,Hiroshima - View on map
"This APA hotel is a new APA hotel in Hiroshima (they have another one nearer to hiroshima station) and it can be hard to find if you do not know how to navigate the underground exits from Hiroshima station, though once you get there, it's actually relatively easy. Staff was able to speak English and were kind and helpful. The room has a big TV and everything was clean, tidy and in place. There seem to be Hiroshima delicacies available for takeaway right at the hotel lobby restaurant, though I did not try. Highly recommend this place."

Hotel Granvia Hiroshima
Hiroshima,Hiroshima - View on map
"the granvia hotel in hiroshima is located directly outside the station and bus terminal which makes arrival pleasantly easy. the staff are extremely helpful and polite and the rooms are clean and of decent size with nice views of the city and surrounding mountains. below the hotel you will find an excellent range of restaurants. for those who do not mind spending some time on their feet, the granvia is within walking distance to the hiroshima castle and peace memorial museum - the latter being an absolute must for any visitors to hiroshima."

Hotel Intergate Hiroshima
Hiroshima,Hiroshima - View on map
"A great new hotel in Hiroshima. After taking the bus 1 hour from Hiroshima airport to Hiroshima Bus Center - you need to walk around 15 minutes with your bags to the hotel. I thought it would be closer but after you get the lay-of-the-land, the location isn't TOO bad. Most people want to stay near the Atomic Bomb Dome area and I thought this hotel would be closer but it is a bit of a walk from the main "tourist" attractions - but definitely walkable. It's right on the busy Hakushima-dori Avenue which hosts plenty of restaurants and access to shopping (Mitsukoshi, PARCO, covered market etc) nearby all less than 10 mins walk away. Check-in lobby is on the 14th floor and all the guest rooms are below. If you don't have breakfast included with your booking they offer free freshly brewed drip coffee very morning in the restaurant which you can drink-in or takeaway (cups provided) and it's quite delicious. Rooms are clean, spacious and have all amenities provided. Great small hotel!"

Hiroshima Washington Hotel
Hiroshima,Hiroshima - View on map
"This is positioned rather as a Budget Hotel in Hiroshima, and indeed you will have slightly less amenities or facilities as a luxury hotel, however all basic standards for cleanliness and safety are met at the highest level. Staff very professional, speaking English and friendly. The building is and "feels" new, rooms feel fresh and modern, if not very large very well designed to optimize all space and have all comfort a traveler needs (power sockets with adapters and multiple USB sockets throughout the room, comfortable bathroom with all amenities, slippers, etc.). We would definitely stay again, especially given the unbeatable value for money. "

Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima
Hiroshima,Hiroshima - View on map
"The hotel has fantastic staff who are always helpful and always cheerful. Check in and Check out process were fast and smooth. Rooms and the bathrooms are clean. The Japanese breakfast options in the breakfast buffet are good. They western selections are limited. The hotel provides a free shuttle service from Hiroshima railway station. There is also a city bus service that stops in front of the hotel. However the shuttle takes about 30 - 40 minutes and the city bus takes about 55 mins to 60 minutes from the railway station. In the evenings, it is best to take a taxi from a taxi stand as we spent a significant amount of time trying to hail a taxi from Moto-Ujina-Guchi on the Hiroshima electric railway stations. We ultimately walked about 1.5 kms to the hotel since none of the cabs were willing to stop. Bottom line - great hotel with great rooms and service and a good Japanese breakfast buffet but a little out of the way."

More about Hiroshima

To the modern observer, Hiroshima belongs in the same class as any thriving Japanese metropolis. It is home to a million residents, ample accommodation and a historic castle that dates to the 16th century. But beneath the fine polish of this modern city is the quiet remembrance of a day just a few decades ago when Hiroshima fell to the atomic bomb. Visitors flock here to visit the memorials and demonstrate solidarity. But rather than finding a city of depressed or downtrodden people, they're greeted with optimism, friendliness and a progressive outlook.

Peace Memorial Park in the city center is a collection of moving, often heartbreaking museums and memorials. The Children's Peace Monument is perhaps the most sobering as it immortalizes Sadako, a young girl and victim of fallout. As Hiroshima was rebuilding, Sadako inspired the entire city through her quest to fold 1,000 origami cranes. An old saying states that a person who folds this many cranes gets a single wish granted. Sadako never finished her thousandth crane – she got to 644 before leukemia took her life, but she lives on in Hiroshima's very real quest to end nuclear armament.

Hiroshima Castle was rebuilt in the 1950s after being destroyed by the bomb. The grounds boast hundreds of sakura trees, which are lovely in the springtime. The castle is located near Chuo Park and operates an interesting museum. Several other parks and temples on the fringes of the city are wonderful daytrip destinations.

Intense ground-up construction has yielded some truly remarkable hotels near Hiroshima. These are planted throughout the central district, as well as near Hiroshima Airport. This domestic terminal serves several prominent cities in Japan.
