Honolulu (HI) hotels & places to stay

The photos make it look 100X better than it actually is. The hotel is very...international. It is designed for non Americans. Its cheap its blocks from the beach although there are some very rough places you have to walk through. The AC and power in your room are dependent on you inserting your key in a slot. The beds and toilet are low to the ground. The pool and foot spa look better in the pictures. The staff is amazing. The valet staff is the best Ive ever seen. The manager is very attentive. Great people running the place. Its good if you just need a place to sleep for the night. Not good for lounging.

I book this hotel very long time ago as there is promotion but i really don't know this is a good choice, there are many comment on the internet and what i worry is the bed bud, insert in the room........ when i arrive, the lobby is very nice, bright and clean, no problem of it, staff is nice. when i get into my room, i have a "WOW" feeling, never have that feeling. the room is big, nice, clean, tidy, no smell, no dust, have a balcony, of course no inserts...........oh god, this is super nice. the toilet is very clean just the shower is not function well......but no complaint of it............ the location is super good, so close to every where, to shopping, i really like and love to recommend it

As this is not a hotel you will have to rely on the owner who is consistently late, aggressive and rude. We accidentally mixed up the dates and thought we were staying another day. We needed to check out at 11, the time specified on the booking. The owner was infuriated by this and threatened to charge another day to my credit card if we did. He also tried to pressure us into staying another night for $280, giving us 10 minutes to take it or leave it. We looked on line and saw another room in the block for $180 a night. The same one he wanted to sublet to us and make $100 for himself. Totally dodgy. There are plenty of apartments in the block which are mostly the same. I would suggest going with another company.

This was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had anywhere in the world. From the moment we stepped into the hotel we felt excited to be there. The front desk staff was exceptional. They were chatty, involved in our stay, and polite and professional! They never hesitated to come out from behind the desk to help us- whether to show us the ice machine or help us to use the coffee machine. The room was very tidy and nicely furnished. Although on the small side, it was very comfortable and had a nice sized closet for suitcase storage and to hang our clothes. The hotel provides FREE washing as well. Free machines, free detergent, and free dryer sheets. I've never seen that before! The lobby is comfortable and has free coffee all day, which is a godsend for jet lag. The hotel is located just behind the Hyatt hotel, only 2 minutes from the beach. There are convenience stores, supermarkets, bars and restaurants all within 5-10 minute walk. And with the money we saved booking at the Stay, we didn't feel bad about having a few more expensive meals. This is one hotel that is doing everything right. I am a raving fan for life and I will recommend The Stay to everyone I know who goes to Honolulu from now on!

The Pearl is a older hotel but her location is awesome. She is literally a half block from the International Market, and a block and a half from the beach. A block in the other direction is a food market. The staff were very helpful with planning excursions and local transport. As well, we can to Honolulu 5hrs later than planned ( flight delayed) and they made accommodations for our late check in.

In an overdeveloped expanse of accommodation in Waikiki Hotel Renew stands out as it is fairly small and "boutique". I stayed at Hotel Renew twice during my stay in Hawaii. The first room was a Beach View room which was lovely and quiet. The second was a city view room (room 601) which was noisy; I was woken up various times during the night by garbage trucks etc so don't chose this room if you are a light sleeper. Having said that I did not have the air conditioning on which probably would have drowned out the noise anyway as it's so loud! The reception area did not "wow" me but the rooms where modern with a good ambience and everything you need. I liked that they provided free loan of beach gear and that there were some great books to read in the room. It does not have a restaurant or room service but there are so many restaurants around that you don't really need it anyway and they provide 24 hour coffee and pastries in the morning. My stay was easy and comfortable and I'd recommend it as a place to navigate to and from Honolulu airport.

This hotel is in a perfect location - right down town Honolulu It is not bad in price but it is definitely an older hotel - evident in their rooms and in the building itself. For me: CONS: - I had requested a king bedroom and received a room with two double beds; - the light in the bathroom flashed on and off all night (yes I could have called down but I had a very early flight and could not stay up waiting for someone to come or for it to be fixed). - It smelled a bit musty - smelled like a very old hotel - The staff is the not the quality you may be used to or expect - questions were answered in an "unsure" manner. PROS: - great location - had a fridge, stove, pots/pan,dishes, toaster, coffee/maker, You are paying for the location - not the hotel itself.

My husband had stayed here before and that was why I decided to pick this hotel for our overnight stay. We stayed for a night after arriving from San Francisco, as we had to catch our flight home the next day, from Honolulu airport. I wish that we had been able to stay longer as I was pleased with the room given to us. It was big, with a big fridge (bigger than the iceboxes provided in other hotels) and there was also a microwave oven, besides the other usual room amenities. There was a shuttle service that took us to the shopping centre and back to the hotel. There were many provisions outlets (called "ABC") nearby within walking distance, so it was easy to get food and drinks. We will definitely consider staying here on our next visit, which I'm sure will be longer than one night!

This hotel is arranged as a condo ownership. So a single unit or few of them could be owned by one individual. We first got to unit No.822 and the looks and furnishings were like from dilapidated third grade motel, just disgusting! After (two days) of my complaining we got to the unit No.1003 which was on top with direct access to the taras overlooking part of Waikiki beach. It was a lot better unit, but again, furniture used up and outdated(the sofa has no fabric left on seating cushions-junk) and AC unit set out on converted balcony blowing cool air through open window to it. So, if you decide to take a challenge and rent a unit, just be aware that every unit is different and see it before you decide to stay in it. I personally will avoid it.

My husband and I were very pleased with our nine night stay and would definitely stay again in the future especially if we were able to secure a package deal. The Hotel is in a perfect location and central to everything we needed during our stay. The Bus stop was less than a block away which is a great and cheap service to get around and even the whole Island. It is only a short walk to the beach from the Hotel and fold up beach chairs and towels are available to take to the beach. The service and all the staff were most accommodating and friendly. Our room on the 10th floor was fairly quiet and it was nice to sit on our balcony at night and was the passing parade below. We really didn’t want to leave.

Fly standby and got stuck in Honolulu...best overnight stay in a pinch! My son wants to stay again, wayyy nicer than a hotel 6. Can't beat the transportation to and from the airport 24 hrs/day. Staff awesome. Even has a fridge and a pool. Really sweet stay especially if you don't need a resort vaca. I plan to return often if my oldest decides to go to school at U of H. A gem.

Looks like a work in progress, inside and out. Kinda’ sad looking overall. Too bad for such a good location. Bed and pillows were super cheap and uncomfortable. Bathroom door is a slider that is falling apart and barely works. However, the towels were okay, better than some other places even. Internet was offered in price, but check in girl failed to tell us the password. She obviously hates her job. We had to go back and ask. Then it stopped working. Also, only one key was available, and we had to go back the next day to see if another was even available. Weird, because, hardly any other room was even occupied. It is near an apartment complex, low income, and a lady and man yelled... a lot. Walls are so thin, you can hear everything, even with the super loud ac unit. The pictures online are very deceiving. We regretted our choice as soon as we entered the complex.

This hotel is good value for money. It's nothing fancy but that's all we need. The bed was Nice and comfy. It's half way between all the shops in waikiki and Honolulu (1-2km walk in each direction). There's a bus stop right outside the hotel going both ways which we caught into Honolulu many times. The pool is nice (4-5 ft deep). Staff were nice. Aircon old and noisy but the streets are noisy pretty much all night round anyway so not to bother :)

Lots of good stuff about this hotel! Great location, decent rooms, lots of amazing free amenities like free towels, beach towels, beach chairs, bikes, Movies, etc. Happy hour three times a week, and free yoga - although the teacher no showed one morning which was disappointing. I can't say enough about the staff, everyone was very friendly and kind and really seemed to enjoy working there. Jesse in particular was awesome, he was the valet and worked the morning shift and would always go out of his way to say good morning and ask how our day was. The elevators have been being fixed for a year and they are Brutal! You sometimes would wait literally ten minutes just for one elevator... I realize they are trying to fix them but even the ones that are working (including the new one) don't seem to be programmed right as they would stop at random floors all the time when no one was even there. Good thing people are on vacation time! I would stay here again and recommend it for sure!

I stayed in the Equus Hotel, not the tower and was quite pleased. From the outside it looked like a typical older Honolulu apartment house, but the interior was quite nice. The rooms and small lobby were nicely furnished with antique looking furnishing. The wifi was fast enough and the beds were quite comfortable. The hotel sits on the western edge of Waikiki, but still within walking distance of the zoo (east side of Waikiki).

Although we got off on a rough start due to some facility issues the staff was prompt in alleviating the situation. Jody, the manager, was very understanding, sooo nice and friendly and my daughter and I became somewhat friends. I usually stay at the Wyndham (and I did for part of my stay) but budget was tight and needed to stay at a pocket friendly hotel. There was a parade that literally started at the corner of the Hotel so we had a great spot! Although this Hotel is not right on the beach, it is walking distance to everything and bus stops right by the Hotel, plus if you rent a car there is easy freeway access and Valet parking for a daily fee of $25. A couple of things I didn't like (but most Hotels in Honolulu charge it) there was an "amenities" fee of around $100 and a breakfast fee of $20 for guests (they only included one free breakfast). I didn't use their amenities, except for the beach towels and the pool was under renovation. They did credit back due to the issues I had.

It is very nice hotel and the staff is helpful, I arrived Honolulu in early morning and very tired due to time difference, as the check in time is 3:00 pm, I worried what I should do in the hours. The staff helped me and allowed early check in without extra charges. The location is goodm there are many convenience stores (ABC) and easy to get resturants too. With the good price I recommend this hotel

I have read a lot of bad reviews for this place but at the end of the day, the hotel is affordable yet provides an amazing view of the ocean. We were on level 21 (just making it over the shorter buildings in front of the Tower). You really need to read the fine prints. There is a resort fee, you have to do the check in yourself where they will be sent instructions on the day of check-in via email and they will send forms to complete prior to arriving to the hotel. The place does need upgrading and a thorough clean but everything works and the beds are clean. We would definitely stay here again. The location is very close to Ala Moana centre and a bus is literally down the road. If you want luxury, restaurants, staff service and all that jazz then this place may not be for you. All the best. Although Maccas, ABC store and Red Lobster is very close. THANK YOU MARINA TOWER WAIKIKI.

Although an older hotel it was in an amazing location (literally across the road from the beach) and was as clean as it can be for the age of the building. The housekeeping was amazing and the staff were so friendly - we arrived early in the morning and because our room was ready they were able to check us in early without a fuss...as a family with an infant and child this makes the biggest difference after a 10hour flight! The beds were comfy and we were given 2 double beds (booked a partial ocean view room). The hotel doesn't have an actual lobby but a kiosk at the front to checkin however this did not affect our experience in the slightest. Umbrellas, beach towels and beach mats are also provided. Eggs and things is downstairs just outside the kiosk but there was always a queue for breakfast so we ended up finding another breakfast joint just down the road. MacDonalds is also next door as well as ABC (which is also on every other corner). All in all a great stay at Aston circle waikiki and certainly the best value for money. Will definitely be looking to stay here again!

I had a Great Stay at Aqua Skyline at Island Colony, I really love this hotel for being stylish and clean and most of all it is centrally located to shopping, transportation and also walking distance to waikiki beach, the staff is very helpful, the location of the hotel is in a quiet place so you can have a good rest after the tiring day of walking around, shopping and activities you had... They have ironing equipment, mini kitchenette and coffee maker and complete sets of utensils in the room, the Rest room is very nice too... They have 4 elevators and its really fast even you are assigned in a highest level of the building you don't have to wait long for the elevators and also the price of this hotel is very affordable... I really recommend this hotel!

I was pleasantly surprise of the conditions of the room. I had a superior studio unit which is very spacious and has an excellent view of the mountain. It is right next to the Wakiki beach and all the nearby shopping and night life. What I liked most of this hotel are the indoor parking and internet connection with no additional charges. The small kitchenette allowed me to prepare simple meals. It even comes with high definition flat panel TV. I definitely will consider this hotel next time I am in Honolulu.

My flight to Honolulu was 6 hours late departing Phoenix. Before I took off I called my Oahu family and said i would not get in before 1 AM and was going to Maui in the morning to visit more family so don't pick me up . Called the hotel directly after reserving on line and explained that I reserved for the night of the 6th but would check in on the 7th in the early AM. They got it and took care to leave instructions for the front desk staff. Many years ago I arrived at 6 AM and a fancy Honolulu hotel - they said - you did not show up so we charged your credit card and you cannot check in now. I asked what time check out was and I had two hours. I told them I was going to go up and take a shower - they were not amused but eventually let me in. The Airport Hotel staff was so much more accommodating. Location was perfect. I called and the shuttle bus picked me up about 10 minutes later at my baggage carousel doorway.. Small room bur just what I needed - a bed to sleep in - now.
