"I spent 3 days at the Double Tree before exploring the jungle. I was alone and had never been to Peru and I can not praise the staff enough for their help to make me feel secure and informed. I enjoyed my stay so much I booked in again for my final night before flying home. Both visits were exemplary. One tiny beef is the charge for bottled water in the room. I feel that in a place where it's not entirely safe for foreigners to drink the tap water then it should be offered free. "

"As you approach this beautiful old colonial hotel (once a rich merchants property)you can see it just oozes charm like a fading star. Entering into the reception you are met with a cool air-con atmosphere, relieving the heavy sultry air of Iquitos. The wooden floorboards to the high ornate ceilings, the welcoming staff, it's an oasis in the jungle. Walking through the inner doors to the rooms you are hit with the warmth of the outside as the center is an open courtyard with a small swimming pool and with seating area. The rooms we had were on the second floor. This has a three sided terrace overlooking the pool. In this airy area there is seating, a fridge, and is also (for those that do) a smoking zone. Our room was large, clean, air-conditioned, had beautiful original tiled floors, and a Juliet balcony over looking the river, plus all the usual amenities. The added bonus is a library downstairs which has a computer for guests to use. Meals are served in the dining room furnished with some fantastic mirrors. Suffice to say we loved it, would highly recommend it, and given the opportunity would be back in a flash. "
