Kagoshima hotels & places to stay

You can never expect large rooms this category of hotels in Japan; but I was really pleased to see how at this establishment they have managed really, really cleverly to make a very comfortable and functional room out of a tiny space. Also - very unusual for this kind of hotel - they have separated the bedroom from the rest of the room by a sliding door, thus offering a bigger sense of privacy - and also shutting out any noise from the hallway; and the toilet is also separated from the bathroom, differently from other hotels in the same category that usually feature what in Japan is called a "unit-bath". But the best thing for sure is the large ofuro on the 13th floor, that also features a rotenburo and a sauna. Put on top of this that everything is perfectly clean, and you have a perfect hotel for a very reasonable price. Definitely coming back when I need to be in Kagoshima next time!

If I had one gripe with the hotel (and is probably hotels in Japan but I haven't stayed in many) is that they didn't let me go to my room early even if the room was empty and so ready for the guest. That kind of meant the first day hanging around as it wasn't easy to split the luggage into what I needed and what I didn't. But, everything else was pretty amazing. They make everything so convenient that you almost don't need to ask the staff anything. Everything is on hand (extra pillows by the elevators, clothes press in each corridor, extra toiletries on the ground floor, free coffee in the afternoons, etc.). I would definitely stay here again the next time I am in Kagoshima.

Remm Kagoshima is on the main street of Kagoshima City. Shopping areas is just downstairs. Excellent design features right from entrance to the room. There are a lot of user-friendly design inside the room, for example, multi-plug charger, massage chair, washroom is close to the windows while keeping the sleeping area in the inner part of the room, etc. Room size is Japanese standard and bed is comfortable for couples. If you drive to Remm, please make sure you choose Kagoshima entrance as destination as the car park entrance is located at inner street. Remm charges 1200YEN for over-night parking. You may opt to park at a car park next to Remm. That car park entrance is on the main street. We did not Dine at Remm. So the score does not count.

Went to Kagoshima to do some sightseeing. The location was amazing! You can take the airport bus to Kagoshima Chou Station and the hotel is right next to the bus stop. It is very convenient. Although the room was a bit small (standard size in Japan) it was incredibly comfortable with amazing views! The volcanic side is very beautiful! Didn't have a chance to try the hotel food... You can also buy a 1000 yen movie card if you are tired of doing sightseeing and want to relax. You can watch multiple movies until 11am the next morning. Mount Sakurajima is close enough to get to from this hotel. The staff was very friendly. I was there on a long weekend so a lot of the popular restaurants needed to be reserved ahead of time. One restaurant in the area that I would recommend is called Sou (Black Himegyu beef) it was an absolutely delicious yakiniku restaurant in the Shotengai area. Also there is a place that has 25 little restaurants all in one area that offer specialty foods of Kagoshima that is within about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It is a very cool area.

The hotel is located 20 minutes walk from Kagoshima-Chuo station in a sidelane. In the evening there are a lot of restaurants in the surround. The sights of Kagoshima are easy to reach by tram or just walking. The Blue Wave Inn is a good hotel which a lot of services for the guests, rooms are nice, clean and spacey. Reception is friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay as a good base to explore Kagoshima an surround.

Hotel located in the center of shopping street. Only a couple of minutes away from tram station, few minutes away from gourmet street, so it's very convenience. The room size is Japan standard. The bed is ok. Staffs are helpful with a great deal of service mind. We love their breakfast which is very yummy and differ from other hotels. We'll stay here again if we go to Kagoshima.

I stayed at this hotel for one night with my wife. We were in town for our kids' swim meet that was taking place at the Kamoike Park Pool. The room was small, but clean, with a double bed. The best thing about the hotel is the location. It is connected to Kagoshima Chuo station, so it was literally a 1 minute walk from exiting the Shinkansen gates to get to the hotel entrance. The hotel lobby is beautiful, and the staff were attentive and polite (as always in Japan). And there were at least 3 staff at the front desk every time we walked by. To get to the pool, you can take a bus from bus stop 15 (located on the east side of the station). The number 11 bus goes straight there (15-20 min, ￥190 one way). The first morning we took a taxi, which took 10-15 min and cost a little over ￥1000. There is a really big gift shop just outside of the hotel exit into the station, with everything you could need in terms of gifts. A great place and will stay again!

I spent 3 nights in Kagoshima, visiting Sakurajima once and focusing the rest of my time on Meiji restoration tourism and Japanese history. The Hotel was a couple tram stops from the JR Kagoshima station, quick enough to reach on foot even with a large rucksack and really close to everything in general. Located on a busy street, there were lots of shops and restaurants available nearby, including a souvenir store. The room was smallish but good enough for me, everything was clean and the staff in the lobby offer a free wifi modem. Expensive teppanyaki restaurant at the top of the hotel, but the quality is worth it.

The hotel is very close to Kagoshimachuo station (5 minute walk); ie the last and southernmost Shinkansen terminal in Japan. We could see the Shinkansen plaform from our room. Note that Kagoshimachuo and Kagoshima stations are two different station in the same city; the latter is far smaller, older and is less important. You'll pass by a Bic Camera store upon exiting the train station on the way to the hotel. We found the hotel clean. Can't complain about the size as it's typical for standard rooms to be small in Japan. The check in process was fast. Amenities were adequate. Overall we're happy with the hotel. We did not have much time to explore the city but we spent the evening visiting Sakurajima (Sakura Island). Being a JR Pass holder, the best way (free and fastest) to get to the ferry terminal was to take the local JR train from Kagoshimachuo station to Kagoshima station (just the next station). From there we had to walk for like 10 minutes

When you book online it is difficult to know what you will be getting. Sunflex was one of the best hotels we stayed in while on our trip around Kyushu. Firstly the location in Kagoshima was brilliant, being just walking distance to shops and the waterfront. It was a quiet location too. The room was not as small as some, as it had a small entrance a queen size bed and a two seater sofa. Tea and coffee making facilities, a wardrobe and adequate bathroom gave us what we needed. The bed was most comfortable and the pillows were lovely. The bedside lamps work well for reading and the air conditioning was perfect. Best of all were the lovely friendly and helpful staff and the car parking was free. I couldn't fault this place. I highly recommend it and would stay here again if I ever get the chance to revisit Kagoshima.

Friendly, relaxed hot spring hotel; common areas are elegant and cozy; great rooftop bath with view of Mt. Shiroyama; professional staff. Only drawback is slightly far from the main train station. Also, the western-style single rooms probably leave a bit to be desired compared to the other types, all of which appeared to be much nicer; but I have no complaints as the rate I paid was very reasonable.

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed during our 2 weeks Kyushu trip. Superb service & friendly staff who made us feel so at home & made our trip so memorable. Room is spacious with amazing Sakurajima view. Love the onsen with fantastic view especially after a day of walking. Hotel also provides shuttle service to Kagoshima-chuo Station & Tenmonkan so it is very convenient for guests. Would definitely return to stay again & highly recommended to anyone visiting Kagoshima. This is a gem not to be missed.

Location is just next to the ferry from Kagoshima, which makes it accessible. Rooms are huge but had a very grassy smell. Overall clean and comfortable with a great view. Fair warning, there is no shower within the room so you have to do that in the connecting magma onsen which was so-so in maintenance since it is a very touristy attraction on Sakurajima. In a nutshell, staying overnight in Sakurajima is optional and you may be better off doing just a day trip here as almost everything closes by 5pm.

Convenient location, just 2 mins to Tenmonkan Tram station. Airport bus also stops here. Staffers are friendly but many of them can't speak English. Room is small but very clean. Breakfast is simple but fine for me. I would suggest to provide more hangers, 2 hangers are not enough. The very best is the hotel provide a cellphone to guest. You can make free local or international call. You can also bring it out to use free internet searches. Impressive for a 3-star hotel. Worth for money. Highly recommend to stay here
