"Location is on the main road, right off the city "center". Staff was good, especially the manager who was very friendly. Rooms were clean and roomy; I stayed in 4 person dorm. Wifi ok. Bathrooms clean. They also have cafe downstairs for brekky/lunch, a pool, and a hot tub. Lots of deck space to sit around. Kitchen decent. Overall, great place to hang while in Kaikoura."

"We arrived early in Kaikoura and managed to check-in early. The unit was very basic. The location was nice as it was close to Kaikoura town. It has basic cooking facilities. Please note though that generally in New Zealand, the common practice is each unit will have a base price for generally 2 adults and each additional occupants will have a surcharge, regardless of the number of bed or rooms that exist. In this case, NZ$20 for each child."

"Staff are lovely, for a hostel very clean. Ten mins from where the bus drops you off. Nice log fire in the louge/kitchen area. Can only get wifi in the reception area which is really annoying, no hand soap in the shared en-suite bathroom and toilet roll is see through. No where to hang up anything, no shelving either. Late check in and not being able to do laundry until midday is annoying too. Light went off in the middle of my shower and the switch for it is outsode the shower. Its a nice place but theres no point if its not practical. "

"I gave 5 Stars for location in spite of being a bit of a walk from town, but don't worry, they'll send a shuttle to and from the train station for you, and if you get tired from the walk into town, they'll send a shuttle for you any time you want as far as I could tell. It would be cool if they had bikes. Also a nice hike to the seal colony right from the hotel, and the setting is amazing looking back across the bay at the mountains. Restaurant is the best place in town, and to have a beer in the afternoon out front was just magical."
