"Right from our arrival, we felt at home. Although we got to the hotel a bit early (around noon), we were given a room right away. That was a nice welcome because we thought we were going to wait until check-in time (4 PM). It is the perfect location, not too far from the town but near the restaurants and little shopping centers of Kailua-Kona. Because of an airline situation, we needed to extend our stay one more night, and again, the staff was so accommodating. The facilities are perfect right at the edge of the water which allows for the sound of waves to relax you. The Lua was the best I've seen yet with the perfect sunset in the background. The upkeeping of the facilities need to be more expeditious or this beautiful facility will decay rapidly. I'm adding this comment because I really like Royal Kona Resort and would like it to look its best every time I go back to it. "

"These are privately owned condos. Avoid unit 236. Screen door jammed, bathroom sink didn’t drain, air conditioner dripped all over lanai, one beach towel, lights in Murphy bed inoperable, lamp with no place to plug-in, rude notice in kitchen stating if we left dirty dishes or did not empty trash on leaving, we would be charged. Low on aloha, overall. "

"We usually travel to Kona several times a year and have stayed at various condos and hotels. The time that was spent at the Kailua-Kona Holiday Inn Express & Suites has been one of the absolutely best!!!! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms are large and comfortable, and the location is excellent for any activity you choose to do. All of the people in our group were constantly commenting on how pleased they were with everything about the facilities, staff, and location. All of us will definitely be staying at this property in the future,, and I'm sure that our friends and family will also be wanting to try out this Holiday Inn Express!!! It is definitely a hidden diamond in the Kailua-Kona area.."
