"The River Kwai Hotel was the first 1st class hotel in Kanchanaburi. It still lives up to this standard and its reputation in terms of quality of service and the comfort of the rooms. The hand basins are a little chipped but this doesn't detract from the overall standard. Breakfast is first rate. "

"This small hotel, around 20-30 rooms, is not close to the town, making a very quiet and nice environment next to the River Kwai in Sai Yok area. The hotel staff/owner is very friendly and she will check with us if we know the way, after we gave a call to her at the early morning of check-in day. We asked the hotel to prepare the dinner and the hotel make the food very well. They are also very helpful to prepare for us the ice and allowed us to bring our own alcohol without charging extra money. The breakfast included in the room is just a simple one, and it is acceptable for a low-cost hotel As the hotel is close to the natural environment, I suggest you all to bring along a mosquito spray in case you are sensitive to mosquito. Besides, it is suggested to prepare your own car as there is no public transportation around. Nearly nothing you can do for killing the time around the hotel area. One thing I would like to remind you all that there are no TV and refrigerators at those raft rooms we stayed."

"We are very pleased that we have been able to spend a few days at what will undoubtedly be considered by far the best hotel in Kanchanaburi once word gets around. Excellent accommodation, clean, with own balcony and tasteful furnishings. Drinks and cold towels on arrtival and "signing in" was done whilst relaxing on a settee in the lounge. No standing at the reception counter after a journey on a very hot day - a really nice touch. Whilst this is a very large hotel, staff still manage to convey a feeling that you are genuinely welcome. In fact, I would say that although the hotel surroundings are absolutely superb, Dhevamatra,s biggest asset are its staff who are friendly, helpful and always willing to help to ensure that you get the best out of your stay. The Manager arranged a boat trip for us which left from the Hotel Pier and was extremely good value at 800 baht for over two hours (very speedy longtail boat which covers a lot of distance in no time at all - exhillerating and real fun. Kids would love it! There is loads to see in Kanchunaburi and environs. We are going back to stay at the Dhevamantra again a months time! I would encourage anyone to take the opportunity to stay at an hotel which will without doubt become very well known as a gem in this part of beautiful Thailand. "

"The resort has lovely well maintained grounds and our deluxe cottages on stilts shared a a balcony and over looked the river. The swimming pool had the added bonus of a water slide which my two children (11 & 12) thoroughly enjoyed. The food was really good, I can recommend the fried pork with garlic and pepper! The activities provided by CDR adventure are really worth doing - an elephant ride and bathing on a elephant in the river really is a must as is taking a long tail boat up the river to the death railway and then riding the train back to Nam Tok. We really got to experience the real Thailand even sharing most of the train with Thai school children on their school trip! The staff are very helpful and friendly, always smiling and polite. It is a little far out from the main attractions - Bridge of the river kwai and some museums, but we preferred this. It mainly has Thai people staying there, but we preferred this too as it was a little quieter! We had a and wonderful stay and have fabulous memories and photos! "

"Very nice hotel with very friendly staff. Easy check-in and check-out. Breakfast by the river with nice views. I have been here for short breaks before and the location is perfect for the bridge and the railway station. This would be my preferred hotel in Kanchanaburi. A quiet location a short walk to the restaurant and bar area at the bottom of the road. This time, I traveled by bus from Bangkok Sai Tai Mai (100 THB per person, about 2.5 hour journey) and then took a Songthaew from the bus station to the hotel (150 THB for 2 people for the convenience and travel distance to the hotel)."
