Where to stay in Kanchanaburi
Kanchanaburi hotels & accommodations

This is the best resort in Kanchanaburi. The view is stunning. The resort is only 15 minutes from the city center. It is very peaceful. Staff is very good. The food is standard not very expensive. One downside was the hotel network and tv system is internet based which sometime not working. But it is very minor because We went there for the view not TV.

We are very pleased that we have been able to spend a few days at what will undoubtedly be considered by far the best hotel in Kanchanaburi once word gets around. Excellent accommodation, clean, with own balcony and tasteful furnishings. Drinks and cold towels on arrtival and "signing in" was done whilst relaxing on a settee in the lounge. No standing at the receptio...

Third time to Kanchanaburi and U Inchantree kanchanaburi hotel is the best. Nice, well maintain hotel by the river just 5 mins walk to the bridge over river kwai and local restaurants. The room is very clean and comfortable and is surrounded by a nice garden. Set sun view by the river is very beautiful. The staffs are friendly and they provide great breakfast. A good p...

The most beautiful and restful romantic resort! Breathtakingly stunning river resort best in Kanchanaburi. We loved every minute of our stay here and are hanging to go back, definately the highlight of our Thailand trip. Staff go out of their way to help and the boat trip there was awesome. Living on the river in style!

Very nice hotel with very friendly staff. Easy check-in and check-out. Breakfast by the river with nice views. I have been here for short breaks before and the location is perfect for the bridge and the railway station. This would be my preferred hotel in Kanchanaburi. A quiet location a short walk to the restaurant and bar area at the bottom of the road. This time, I...

My husband and Iwere looking for comfortable accommodation in Kanchanaburi. We chose Mida resort because of genuine site. The hotel offers a shuttle service from the bus station in Kanchanaburi, but you must contact the resort about your wishes.. When we arrived at the hotel...OMG... I can assure you that we remain speechless ... this is paradise on earth. The surround...

When you like nature, and back to basic for 1 or max.2 nights, this is great! No electric, only oil lamps at night. Good beds (3 per room). Very simple shower, cold water, good western toilet. These floating hotels are in the River Kwai. So romantic, so unique. Just jump in de river and let you float to the last boat, climb on board, walk back and jump again: lot of fu...

It's different from other hotel in Kanchanaburi Thailand, you will touch real nature feeling, many of trees in hotel area and good air. You still feel comfortable and private even it have 90 rooms in the hotel. One thing i don't like is the food because chefs cook it for European (i think) then the taste is tasteless not spicy enough for me (i'm Thai). Pricing is ok for...

I never write reviews but I have travelled all over Thailand for the best part of 5 years and this is by far the best value hotel I have stayed at. The hotel itself must have been designed by an architect as it has a minimalist yet luxurious feel to it. The amenities are great with a nice pool and even a pool table. There is an amazing coffee shop next to reception and...

It's time to get away from busy polluted bangkok and give our self a tread of natural and clean air. Thank you to Agoda that make my trip so easy on search for a nice quality hotel in Kanchanaburi. We departure bangkok on friday evening about 2 hours we get to hotel, the room are ready and it was amazing! every basic thing you thinking it there with a little detail t...

On our trip through Thailand we stayed here for one night. The room was clean and comfortable though we decided not to have a room with private pool. The hotel is located some miles outside the city of Kanchanaburi, but the staff does everything to book a cab, a tuk tuk for you or even bring you by themselves to any place in Kanchanaburi. Besides they can give you an...

Best hotel in Kanchanaburi for stay. We had very good time and best services with beautiful staff. King he is the best manager with services mind very helpful and beautiful nature. All staff were very polite and helpful with everything. I definitely recommend it , they are the gemof Kanchanaburi.

This would have to be the pick of hotels in Kanchanaburi. We were very happy with our stay here. We found the location very good with everything we needed nearby. With only a one night stay we hired a motorbike for 1/2 day at 150 tbh to visit all the surrounding sights. Lots of things close by. We found the hotel staff very polite and helpful. The hotel is right in the...

One of the best hotels, (if not the best) hotel in kanchanaburi. Booked a room with Jacuzzi and beautiful view, breakfast was included and was a good one with many choices. The restaurant was nice and we can order there whole day to the pool. The pool area was great but to less sunbeds. They also have a small gym. I recomend this hotel if you visit or stay in kanchanab...

We absolutely loved our stay! Everything about our stay was just magical. It was a shame we could not utilise the outdoor dining section and campfire etc (due to rain) but this could not be helped. It is quite a ride by scooter from Kanchanaburi - so would recommend transfers or riding only if experienced or have a fair bit of time available. Honestly, I could live he...

I booked this place based on reviews and was NOT disappointed... especially when I realized it was directly across the river from the Elephant Haven sanctuary which we came to experience. The river villa we rented was beautifully decorated as were the grounds. The infinity pool and breakfast room overlooking the river and elephant sanctuary were spectacular features ...

Beautiful location, nice architecture, overall great experience, only reachable by a 2-kilometer dirt road. Two thoughts though: 1. For a place at this price at least have fresh coffee. Instant coffee doesn't cut it anymore in this beautiful country with a myriad of excellent coffee shops. 2. The owners of this place seem to love dogs, of which we made aware of unti...

I need to say that the hotel is located in an awesome spot of Kanchanaburi. The breakfast spot by river Kwai was nice & serene and it is surrounded by many good restaurants & tourist attractions. However, there are recommendations for improvement. 1. Found a cockroach running in my room at night. The staff had it removed very quickly, but that didn’t quite take away...

great little hotel in kanchanaburi.... about a 15 min walk to the famous bridge, and same in opposite direction to the main strip, night life etc. hotel nice and quiet, great rooms, amazing view (and we were only in the cheaper room). the owner is a really lovely guy, the breakfast, whilst not the biggest choice i've come across, was well presented, tasty and more ...

This was one of our best stays during our trip - the floatin villas are incredible - clean, modern, and very comfortable. It was well worth the time spent to get to kanachanaburi. The staff went over and above, the food was fantastic. Highly recommended... and if you’re on the fence, just do it. You won’t be disappointed. GEt up early to feed the fish in the river, a...

The River Kwai Hotel was the first 1st class hotel in Kanchanaburi. It still lives up to this standard and its reputation in terms of quality of service and the comfort of the rooms. The hand basins are a little chipped but this doesn't detract from the overall standard. Breakfast is first rate.

Our stray here was great. A little more spoken English by staff would be helpful. Buffet dinner and breakfast was good. The water heater in our room was finicky during the morning hours. It might have been due to heavy usage by other rooms on the raft... Avoid karaoke because they charge WAAAAY too much for Thailand!!! I'd stay here again otherwise, as I can do ka...

This hotel is situated approx. 25 km north of Kanchanaburi, on the banks of the River Kwai. The location is wonderful and the hotel facilities are excellent for any who wants a quiet get-away. The hotel is large and caters to large groups and bus tours (often with loud music in private banquet rooms), but this is not a serious problem. There is nowhere else to eat nea...

we booked this hotel on the net and our first impressions were very positive. the rooms were comfortable, clean and the river view rooms had an amazing view of the river. the main problem is the hotel is full (5 to 10 busses every day) of russian tour groups. we toured thailand not to have russian music playing by the poolside bars. the staff were fantastic, especial...

I live out out hotels and usually stay in 5 star resorts. When my wife said she had booked a 3 star hotel I was looking for any opportunity to spend 3 times the cost and re-book a 5 star hotel. Upon our arrival I was a little concerned as the building doesn't look exciting from the outside. The staff on checkin were awesome. The rooms are better than most 4 star hotels...

The best part for me was the very clean, very nice 25 meter swimming pool, especially important as the temperature in Kanchanaburi was about 6 degrees Celcius hotter than Bangkok during Songkran! The food was very good and reasonably priced too. The gardens are very well tended to, very beautiful. The river view is also very nice. Slightly negative side: the Internet r...

Great location right on the River Kwan, within easy reach of the famous bridge, Kanchanaburi and an easy drive to other tourist locations. Hotel is very clean and very neat. Rooms are spacious with nice views, comfortable bed, modern bathroom with good shower. Wi-Fi excellent. The gardens are immaculate, nice just to wander through and sit and enjoy. At night time ve...
Cheap places to stay in Kanchanaburi

A lovely hotel based at the top of the river Kwai. We arrived by train travelling over the infamous river Kwai bridge and stopping at one of the two stations nearby (What Pho). Have their number to hand or expect to get motor cycle taxis (friendly locals gave us a lift) a little scary with a rucksack and impossible with a suitcase. Buses do not stop nearby from Kanch...

We chose the A/C private bungalow with a shared bathroom. The place was very clean, we received towels and soap, and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. We were able to rent motorbikes and drive to the nearby Erawan National Park with ease. I noticed some other reviews complained about noise and safety concerns, however this was not our experience. In some in...

So I stayed here 3 nights after discovering that Kanchanaburi has a ton to do and this place was awesome (although has it quirks-see farther down). It’s a quaint little guest house right on River Kwai kind of away from most of the other hotels and guest houses (which I think is kind of nice) and not far from the town center. The owner is super nice and very helpful wit...

I really enjoyed it here! It was so calm and quiet, the restaurant was very affordable and really tasty (some of the best pad kee mao I had in Thailand!), the room was clean and very comfortable even with just the fan. I actually preferred it to the air conditioning! I loved Sugar Cane and I would return without a second thought!

We stayed in Kanchanaburi for 3 days as an alternative to doing a rushed group tour from Bangkok to Tiger Temple, and it was the best decision of the holiday- everything is much cheaper in Kanchanaburi and people seem more trustworthy. We arranged all our trips from the Canaan Guesthouse- hugely cheaper than Bangkok and there was nothing cheaper in the town. The lady s...

We stayed in one of the rooms on the river. It was such a lovely place, very relaxed vibe and clean rooms and even the shared bathrooms were clean and most of the time nobody was using them. Most of the staff were really friendly. The food is also good. I’m still confused by some of the reviews for this place, it is adorable and for such a good price. I can’t complain ...

Staff we always smiling, right on the river so nice to sit on the river at night. Good rates for sure and everything you need, just old a bit dirty. Mattresses very warn out and bathroom def had a funk haha. But what can you expect with these rates. Overall was happy with the choice. Would probably stay again.

I had two nights in Kanchanaburi and stayed in this guesthout one night. Best of all, the location is in the center of downtown. My room was overlooking the river so the scene was very romantic. In the morning I saw some of guests went fishing just in front of the rooms. Next to this guesthouse, there are Mart, pharmacy, restaurants, many bars and massage shops. If I v...

Great location, staff doesn't speak English but are surprisingly still very helpful , place is extremely clean , ac runs good but a little loud , bed is extremely hard . There are pros and cons , if bed was softer I would highly recommend but I personally would stay here again because bed wasn't comfortable , but there is a couch also that looks pretty comfy

We really enjoyed VN Guesthouse for the location, price and views. Even if you don't get a river-view room (which I recommend), you can still enjoy the view of the river at sunset with a beer from their restaurant. The restaurant has good food at decent prices. There may be better restaurants around town, but we were never disappointed with a meal and beer there at t...

I have asked the owner about motorcycle rental availability before booking, he replied yes, there are motorcycle for renting. So I decided to book immediately. But when I arrived the staff said the owner is out to the aboard and there is nothing she could do to let me rent a motorcycle. What!!!! It took me a while to make her called a motorcycle taxi for me going to ...

I like everything in the hotel, the friendly staff, the interior, the cleanliness, the location! It's located between the train station and bus terminal. It may be far to walk, but i always hop on a motor taxi because it's convenient and cheap! Just show the driver the address (better in Thai) and they'll let you know the price, usually it's less than 40 baht per pers...

This apartment is just about a 8 minute walk to the bus interchange, where I took buses to various places of interest around Kanchanaburi. In the evening, there are street food night market near this bus interchange that operate till quite late in the night. The apartment owner is very friendly and gave me good guidance on my travel needs. I find the room facility ...

We stayed there because it was a holiday weekend and there was nothing else available. Basic room, old and run down and not very clean. Location not too bad, opposite the bus station a few km away from the main tourist area - only 60 baht in a tuk tuk to the Bridge over the river Kwai. Not bad for the price but wouldn't stay there again if something else was available....

After traveling around Thailand for 2 weeks and staying in many different places, this was the best place we stayed in. The rooms are perfect, the gardens are beautiful, and it’s close to the town centre so easy to go shopping. The thing that made it perfect for us was our hosts. They were a lovely family that welcomed us in, bought us a lovely breakfast every morning....

The Best Riverside Guesthouse is convieniently located near the old City Gate, and only a short walking distance from the central bus terminal in Kanchanaburi. It is about a half-hour walk to the train station and about 5 km from the famous River Kwai Bridge. The whole complex is very clean, with loveley views across the river. Bars and small shops can be found along...

I will gladly recommend this hotel. The building appears to be new. The rooms are excellent, large, modern TV, good mattress, quality furnished. Hot water plentiful. Covered parking. The restaurant next door is very economical. One of managers spoke good English so useful to me. Location to the city was not far, several blocks. The only negative I would say was difficu...

This hotel is situated next to the more expensive River Kwai Hotel, which is also next to one of the most popular clubs in Kanchanaburi. If you are going to party, this is a great hotel. If you are going to see the river, book one of the river rooms. 7/11 is just opposite the room, which makes this a score of 5 on the location scale. Will be back for a weekend in Kan. ...

Even better if you are renting a car or motorcycle. If you take the bus, tell the driver the name of the hotel. This is definitely a less touristy area for accommodation, but food is close and you are in walking distance to sayok noi waterfall and 15 minute walk to namtok train station. Only negative thing for us was the mattress was quite springy

This is yet another hotel that has so much potential but obviously doesn't get enough business to keep everything up to date. There is a lot of area to walk or ride a bike, lots of beautiful places to sit and relax, nice areas next to the river. The gardens and landscaping were very nice. However we were disappointed with the pool area. The main pool was closed and...

We booked this last minute and as a family of 5 with small children it was perfect. The retreat is a colourful and magical place on a big area right on the banks of Kwae Noi. It is quite far from down town Kanchanaburi and is about 300 baht in a songtaow. There's a station past the bridge station called Wang Yen if you get the train to here it's much quicker to get t...

Lovely grounds, comfortable rooms. The main issue we had was agoda said that children could stay free, but they couldn't and they tried to charge us. After 1 hour of sorting out Agoda actually paid for the kids and a room upgrade. Would highly recommend this hotel for the area. Need transport

On agoda the address is given as city centre. The resort is about 18km from city centre and taxi into town cost 300 baht for one way. The mangeress said she would inform agoda the address was wrong. She was very helpful but my 3 days in kanchanaburi were no where near as enjoyable as i had hoped due to the waiting and unforeseen cost of taxis. The resort itself is ple...

I have 3 stars for the location because of its proximity to the road. You can here all truck traffic as it passes the north side of the property. The owner was very generous to have offered and given us a bott;evof red wine. It was delicious and greatly appreciated. We will stay at this hotel again on our next visit to Kanchanaburi. Deliscious and nicely presented br...

The service was hopeless; smiling but they had no stock. The bars were derelict and had no stock. The spa had not been cleaned for a long time. The water in the room baths was cold; perhaps lukewarm... It felt like a place that had been set up well to start with and was then abandoned. The massage lady was good.

Overall, we really enjoyed this house. The on-grounds housekeeper was so wonderful in making sure we were provided both dinner and breakfast. The grounds were really cool for young kids to play around in, and nearby are beautiful national parks and waterfalls. Real reviews for hotels
Take a train, then go to main road on final stop and catch the bus to hellfire pass- 120 baht together for one oneway.
I have travelled to many parts of Thailand and I rate this as one of the nicest cities to visit. Lots to see, the Death Railway, amazing temples (and I have seen a lot), natioanl parks, waterfalls and a layed back night life.
underrated, undiscovered, unearthed gem of thailand which has so much to offer for many. be it adventurer, nature lover, explorer, cultural.
Please spare more time on the City. You need at least 4-5 Days more to visited half of the tourist spot.
Nice smaller city. Some nice restaurants. No hustle and bustle. I like the big trees and the shade they give.
Apart from going to Hellfire pass, riding the Thai Burma Railway for as long as you can is an experience.
A very quiet town with enough basic facilities, I use to stay in this town again if I want to go to erawan
Was there only short, but did visit Hellfre Pass and Death railway which are of great interest in view of the history of the 2nd world war
Very crowded city with tourists. Sites such as the "death bridge" and war cemetery are on my not miss list
We are a bit biased as this is the provincial city of where we lived in Thailand for many years! However since retiring back to the UK and coming back to visit trying to see it through tourist eyes we can say that yes folk are very friendly and helpful.
Around by the bridge there are resturants but every where closes between 5pm and 10pm. You should not try and cross the bridge at night.
Kan can be a fun weekend away from BKK every once in a while. There is enough to do here, both out in nature as well as in the various entertainment venues throughout this small city.
Stayed out of the centre overlooking the Kwai and this was a beautiful spot. I imagine that the main town can get rather hectic and would not be as relaxing.
The war cemetery was very well kept and a moving experience, especially for older people who can remeber that time and take time to look at some of the grave stones with individual details & messages.
There's lots to see related to the World War 2 experience in the area, but it is also within striking distance of Three pagodas Pass & the Myanmar border (when safe).
It is a big Thailand town 2 hours from Bangkok. Its main attraction is the River Kwai. There is some night entertainment and food places.
I only stay overnight in Kanchanaburi city itself, that's why I cannot give much of my experiences. I have walked from the train station to find out my hotel location, but it's hard for me to find the information, because many people are not speaking English, although they are very kind and really wants to help me.
Not easy to find a hotel like pattaya, long traveling from place to place, its not very convenient if you don't have a car.
Don't miss to visit River Kwai bridge and monuments. There are various adventure activities in jungles to do for fun.
Particularly intetesting is the Allied POW graveyard and over the road the Death railway Museam. The museam is top notch, very relevant and well maintained.
This city is so peaceful with lots of historical. If I have chance, I still need to stay more longer and travel to other district e.
Lots to see and do. Erawan Waterfall, JEATH Museum, War cemetery, Gallery, lake, national parks etc. Some beautiful waterfalls in the area - all worth a visit.
Very interesting area, many monuments to vist, great food at fantastic prices, chaep accommodation, very scenic area and easy to get to.
Nice place to ge unwind and see lots of historical sites, Khmer remains and enjoy shopping/eating/staying.
A delightful place. Not too large and although a Tourist Destination it still seems to have avoided the brash gaudiness that often accompanies such activities.
Many of the area's tourist attractions relate to the Burma Railway, which is still in use. There are also several national parks, waterfalls and other attractions in the area.
Compared with Bangkok or Chiang Mai/Rai Kanchanaburi is not much of a city; the reason we go there is nature, silence, river, hills; there are plenty of hotels located on the river, at various prices offering wide variety of services; Kanchanaburi is thus a place to travel to for relaxation, hiking, nature view and experience; beyond that the city also offers some restaurants and drinks with a little bit of night life attached.
Other than the River Kwai Bridge, the cemetery and a museum about the Bridge, there is very little to do in Kanchanaburi itself.
Being from Australia the Thai-Burma railway had special significance for me and is a must for every visitor.
Its a small peaceful town. Not much happening most of the year there is nightlife and some good resturants in the town.
