Small, old town. People are not very friendly and they stare at people without feeling guilty. It makes the tourist uneasy and feel like a suspect whereever they go.
Public transport available was only taxis and they are quite expensive!
Frankly, there aren't that much of attraction in Kangar. But, if one really must stop by Kangar, it can serve as a starting point to start a journey.
Traveler can drive down to Kuala Perlis for a boat ride to Langkawi, a hotspot for tourist. Or cross the border to Thailand through Wang Kelian for another tourist spot in Pat Bara.
Kangar? Other than its horrible chinese food, the slow going town. The only place to go sight seeing is the reservoir at Timah Tasoh & Gua Kelam.
Chalets & Resorts are a waste of time & money because its under the budget for maintainance & repairs. Terinai Lakeview resort is catered for cash paying customer & Muslim, they get the better rooms there. Others who sign in through AGODA stays in a room like part kitchen, and part like back alley of chow-kit.
Kangar is a good place for relaxation. It is suitable for town people who would like to seek peaceful and see paddy fields not far from Kangar.
A cave that served as the relationships the past. The cave has its own uniqueness. Please visit Dark Cave if the opportunity to visit Perlis.
It is a place with tranquility, out of the busy and hectic life of a city. Nothing much for sight-seeing other than the scenic paddy fields.
Other than ladang harum manis which you have to drive aroynd 30 minutes away.. U may found some ther attraction like horse riding and museum
must go and visit Kuala Perlis - lot of choices of food and stall. Variety type of fishes and other seafood with quite reasonable price.
Your trip to Perlis will not complete if you are not going to Kuala Perlis
small town but the facilities are not very bad. Suitable for peoples who come from town and really need a break and relaxing vacation.
The foods are varieties and you will enjoy shopping at Padang Besar. Dont forget to taste the manggo 'harum manis' when you visit kangar.
we only spent one night there. We will be returning for one or two nights in the future. A great weekend away to get back to nature.
Not so much to do in the evening other than eat Malay and Chinese food which was great. Nice to walk around the central park area. well lit up at night maybe because of the school holiday time in December. The Museum looked wonderful only saw from our drive past on our way to the ferry terminal to Langkawi in the middle of the forest. Good forest walks which we will return to visit. We have now heard of things to do in this area. We would recommend you have a car. spend a few days here before moving on to Thailand. which is close by.
kangar is a small city. no entertainment but very suitable for traveler who find play with peaceful and no traffic jam
Nice place, really natural typical Malay culture. Surrounding with rice field and nearby sea Kuala Perlis
A laid-back small town. Good for transit before going into Thailand via Padang Besar (or vice versa).
For food, suggest to go to Kuala Perlis for its seafood. Hai Thien Restaurant at Kuala Perlis is recommended.
Came here just for fun experience. We suggest Padang Besar for shopping clothing, accsesories & food.
Can go Wang Kelian to go boarder of Malaysia-Thai. Make sure you bring your passport! You can shop there also, but we don't really shop there. Just enjoy seeing Thai people and drink Thai tea :) After that, go to Gua Kelam. It's not adventurous there. You can walk with kids there. And can bring extra clothes if you want to bath in river. Waiting for sunset at Kuala Perlis also suggested. While waiting for Maghrib, you can enjoy the view of sea & Masjid Al-Hussain.
