Veranda Natural Resort

"kep was the relaxation part of our cambodia trip and definitely filled the bill. kep is a pretty rustic area and out of the way (lizards, hotel pets, frogs, etc. were the norm) but you would not know it from the veranda's services. friendly and helpful staff. also, had more than adequate staff numbers so tasks such as cleaning room/villas and bringing luggage, running errands, etc. were completed very efficiently. spa had a nice selection of services, reasonable specials, and was enjoyed by my whole family. the saltwater pool was beautiful, plenty of lounge chairs and space. nice poolside bar and snacks available. really good pizza which was a great break for my teens who had just spent several weeks trying all the more exotic offerings of cambodia. the restaurant also offered traditional cambodian food, grilled entrees and wonderful crab dishes that we all loved. nice desserts and ice cream! another kid favorite! we went to a couple of local restaurants and quickly realized they were probably writing their own reviews in the tourist brochures. the veranda's restaurant beat them hands down. beautiful ocean view but at a higher elevation than most other hotels. we took a tuktuk to the beach for $2. be careful at the beach, 2 of my daughters were stung by jellyfish minutes after getting in the water. local man helped treat the stings with lime juice. we decided the ocean view and the fantastic pool were a good combination for us. if you are an ocean lover i would recommend asking a local person about the jellyfish first. we may just have hit the right season for them. Saravoan Kep

"We loved this charming hotel! Lovely theme and decor in the rooms and cafe / coffee bar and stunning views from the balconies overlooking the beach and sea. Just gorgeous! Best hotel in Kep in my view. Right on the beach with shops, laundry, bike rental, and restaurants next door. 3 minute / 2 dollar tuk tuk ride to crab Market restaurants, 5 mins to rabbit Island pier. Staff were brilliant too, very helpful and they upgraded our room when we found a gecko making a lot of noise above our ceiling due to mating season! They were lovely to chat to, helped us out with everything we needed. Only small negative is the bathrooms could do with a little updating, and we had to ask for soap as only shampoo/shower gel was provided in the room. But a tiny thing given everything else was fabulous. Breakfast not included but available in the cafe overlooking the beach (and a fab breakfast too, great value). Perfect hotel for a relaxing stay in this lovely sleepy town! Highly recommend."

Vanna Hill Resort

"I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a room because room I had booked was taken. I decided to stay an extra night in the cheaper room, which was pleasant enough, but without air-con or a fridge. Kep is expensive by Cambodia standards so although costs more, still value for money. Pool is big and kept clean. The views are beautiful, and the hotel is right next to the national park and tuk tuks into town should cost no more than $1-2 so very well placed. Food wasn't fantastic, but there's so many great places to eat in Kep that it wasn't a problem. I ate breakfast at nearby Veranda, which does a seriously fantastic breakfast buffet for $6 - and is worth every penny. "

Samanea Beach Resort & Spa

"Absolutely top drawer. Restaurant however needs time to mature - normal in Cambodia- in 6 months this will be the only place I'd want to stay again. But with Kep being so small, other restaurants and food options are available, so I'd happily still give Samanea top marks purely on the beautiful setting, rooms and wonderful staff."

Raingsey Bungalow Kep

"We booked this hotel on impulse after our hotel in nearby Kampiot failed to live up to our expectations. And we're really glad we did otherwise we may have missed this true gem of a hotel. After a smooth and friendly check-in we were given room 9, tucked away in one corner of the pool area, and away enough to feel somewhat secluded from other (few) guests staying in the hotel. The pool and dining areas are exceptional, with staff always attentive to anything you might want or need. The new French owners, though understandably nervous, are very keen to make sure you enjoy your stay and genuinely seem to want honest feedback. I have to say she is very lucky to have a team that inherently understand customer service and have a real sense of investment in their jobs - couldn't be faulted at any stage. Rooms are spacious, and quite quirky - loved the bathroom, even if there were the occasional water pressure issues, though this is to be expected given the location. The hotel itself is really convenient to the Crab market - a short, and fairly pleasant walk down the hill. Beware though, as we'd decided to extend our walk around the Kep Beach and the "old town". Kep Beach, though it looks like a short walk, is a fair distance, and the Old Town is much, much further...definitely not one to be undertaken in the heat of the day as we did! Not sure whether we ever did actually find the old town - we found mostly just a collection of very few old French-style villas and walls crumbling into the surrounding countryside from what we could see. However, Kep is a really relaxed place, and just that little bit more special than nearby Kampot which really doesn't have that spark. I'd definitely recommend this hotel for any traveller passing through Kep - enjoy it for what it is, and you won't be at all disappointed"

Mealea Resort

"We had a great time at Mealea for 5 nights. There was a strong WiFi connection so you could lay by the pool and get some stuff done in the morning while enjoying the ocean view. Great for relaxing. Crab market directly across the street for lunch or dinner. It is a short walk into town or there are tuk tuk available. The staff was great and helped me with booking a trip to rabbit island. Also, helped me find money when the main atm in town was broken for a few days. Rooms were cleaned on a daily basis and the gardens around the pool were very beautiful. The room was spacious and very comfortable with WiFi that reached to the room. We would definitely come back to Kep and stay here to relax. Thanks for a great time."

"Having stayed at many hotels in Kep we decided to give Q Bungalows a try and were very pleased with our stay, so much so we have already booked to go next month. The staff were friendly and attentive, the pool is large with nice places to sit and the breakfast pretty good. The hotel is only a few mins walk away from the crab market and Kep Beach. A great value stay!"

Try Palace Resort and Spa
Prey Thum,Kep - View on map
"We stayed with our two year old son. The room was amazing--bigger than our apartment in Phnom Penh! Very new, clean, beautiful, opulent and child-friendly space. There was not much he could hurt himself on or damage, which we count as big pluses! The staff were wonderfully flexible in helping us to adapt and create plans and meals that were suitable for his 2-year old whims! The location is great, a very easy walk from the Crab Market and a slightly longer walk from the beach. They gave us a plate of fresh fruit in our room every day which was lovely!!!! The pool is beautiful and well-kept as well. My husband used the fitness room and said it's great, but could be improved if they provided water. The only down side is the spa is not (yet?) open. There was not much to do besides enjoy the room, and the pool, and the room again! "

More about Kep

A seaside vacation destination in Cambodia’s Kep Province, this little resort town has finally been bouncing back from many years of the country’s turbulent history to what is now a steadily growing popular destination for beach vacationers from not only the surrounding cities but from outside the country as well.

Getting into Kep is relatively easy as it’s within a few hours by car, bus, or minibus from bigger cities such as Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. Once in Kep, transportation within the town is best done by walking, tuk-tuks, or motorcycles.

Nature enthusiasts are certain to enjoy a trip to Kep National Park, which features some comfortable hiking trails with beautiful views of the jungle, sea, and the beautiful Bokor Mountain in the distance. After a few hours of hiking through the trail, spend an afternoon enjoying the stunning views while enjoying a snack.

Kep is famous for its beautiful beaches, and the beach on the popular Koh Tunsay, which is more commonly known as Rabbit Island. The island is home to perhaps the most beautiful beach in Kep, and a night swim at this beach is likely going to be a magical experience with the bioluminescent algae creating a beautiful lightshow.
