The stunning Phang Nga province of southern Thailand is one of the country’s most attractive destinations. The resort town of Khao Lak is located here, boasting some of the most beautiful beaches. This area was heavily affected by the 2004 tsunami, but today, it is completely redeveloped with a full range of resorts.
A city of natural splendor, Khao Lak is mainly national parkland with lush forests and beaches on the Andaman Sea. Many of the resorts here cater to families or those looking for a peaceful and natural getaway. Much less developed than Phuket, even the most popular beaches here can seem deserted, and it is missing the exotic nightlight and its associated attractions.
Khao Lak’s national parks provide most of the attractions in the region. Khao Sok National park offers rafting and trekking on foot or elephant. Hiking trails close to the beach can be explored at Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park
. Within a short drive of the region, Lampi Waterfall
and Chong Fah Waterfall offer up blissful retreats into nature.
Khao Lak is easiest to arrive at via plane to Phuket International Airport – the closer alternative – or Krabi.
