Pimalai was the fifth and final stop on our last trip to Koh Lanta. The resort arranged to pick us up for our check in. The location is distant from everything, but that is part of its charm. Despite being low season, the resort was virtually fully operational, although some construction was going on. The room was fabulous, with a stunning view. Price paid just over 5000 baht. Everything was perfect in the room with all details covered…from screens on the patio doors to welcome cookies and fruit. The property is magnificent. Both pools are idyllic. The food was great and breakfast was huge. The staff were friendly and accommodating. This is high-end luxury that we have never seen so well executed in Thailand. It is very difficult to get Thai staff to maintain these standards, so we give the management a tremendous amount of credit. The complimentary trip back tot the airport was also excellent, using a combination of van and speed boat. We have no complaints about this resort and think it is an excellent value and a truly “must-do” in Koh Lanta. We will return.

I have been treated extremely well at my short holiday break at Sri Lanta Resort at Koh Lanta Yai in Thailand. I travel a lot due to my work and have through 25 years tried many kind of service levels. At this smashing perfect located Resort with an amazing bounty seaview the entire staff is second to none - definitely some of the most genuine service minded people I have had the pleasure of both meeting, talk with and being served by. Their enjoyment of serving is obvious for anyone that ask for real service and a high skilled service level. If the bars above had 7 stars opportunities - the staff should have had 7 stars. No doubt. They all communicate well in English and follows up continuously to ensure I were feeling good and they really enjoyed what they are doing. I simply have to come back to this small piece of heaven. My best and honest recommendations to this Sri Lanta Resort at Koh Lanta Yai and it staff - an impeccable experience. Thank you. L. Nielsen

There is a balcony in each bungalow and there is also some resting space at the bottom of each one with a hammock. The owners speak fluent english and go out of their way to help you. They organised transfers for us, we orginally booked a bungalow for three people in advanced but a few weeks before we flew out to Koh Lanta, we had an extra visitor and they went out of their way to organise extra beds in the bungalow as by then the place was fully booked. They made everything very easy for us, booked our day trips and organised hired vehicles for us. Breakfast was very good, a generous selection was available at their restaurant, The Three Mums, with friendly service. One of the mums came to speak to us in the mornings when we were having breakfast and made us some coconut pancakes on the side, they were nice! There is a small but clean pool in the centre of the bungalows with sun chairs. And a few miniutes walk and you see a nice stretch of beach with white fine sands, beach bars and massages! Going into the main strip of koh lanta where all the main shops were was also very easy. Public taxis are very affordable and are available and is a short 5-10 minute ride away. We were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend this place to people. I loved Koh Lanta a lot, I will definitely come back to the Long Beach Chalet the next time I visit Koh Lanta. Many thanks

Koh Lanta island is a quiet and peaceful island, suitable for relaxing holiday, even better if you have transport (if you drive or rent a bike) to round around the island. The hotel also offer island hopping/snorkeling at per person. Food in Koh Lanta island is not the cheapest or best you can find in thailand, but overall it is still reasonable at average quality of serving

Staff was very helpful in renting a scooter to tour the island. Good price, no hassles. Koh Lanta tips: I was here in low season -- and low it was. 90% of the island was closed which severely limited my interest. The beaches are amazing and it was a great time spending some of it as the only person on the beach, but it leaves the rest of the day to be desired. Hard to find decent food, or anything really as most places were closed. I will definitely come back to Koh Lanta, but not during low season. Also, beware of the tuk tuk scammers as you get off the minibus. Find the guys with numbered jackets that charge standard prices.

No bungalows had directly acces to the beach because of one of the resturants so all of them had about 50 m to the water. The bungalow was superhuge and had a very nice bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub. The staff did a great job whit the cleaning and did always put some kind of flower or toweldecoration (like a duck or elephant). The breakfast was standard. Good location of the hotel, you can walk to 7/11 in 10 minutes and take a tuktuk to Ban Saladan for 100bath (feb 2018) which took 10 minutes. Thai cat was the best resturant at Long beach and was also located nearby the hotel. You can also rent a scooter at the hotel which was comfortable and felt more secure that renting from a private seller (good to know is that no insurance is available at any scooter rental in Koh Lanta) We had some issues with geckos at night because of the sound they make, but no big problem!

We stayed at the Rawi over the xmas period which meant we paid a lot for a room, Way more than the rest of the year - so in terms of value for money our score would be higher if we travelled at another time. The hotel has immaculate grounds and great facilities including the pool and the beach front setting. The staff were lovely and it was our favourite breakfast on our break. Our only complaint was the food at the poolside was pretty poor - although it wasn't too expensive. I think this was one of the best places to stay on the island, right in the centre a short taxi ride from the action - I would recommend and would consider if I returned (which I hope to) to Koh Lanta. Perfect for families

From the moment we arrived the service was first class and we were even given a complimentary massage at the resorts day spa. The bungalows are beautifully presented with high ceilings and a huge bed. The location is close to the beach, Klong Dao, which is one of the best swimming beaches in Koh Lanta. The included breakfast was the best we had in our 7 week stay in Thailand. The Mountain View Pool was secluded and relaxing and there was also an infinity pool which was more popular with the families. The staff were always friendly and helpful and will arrange the hire of a motorbike or car for exploring the island if needed. The gardens and boardwalks separating the bungalows gave a feeling of complete privacy and were kept spotlessly clean. I hope to return to Royal Lanta Resort in the future.

The staffs were responsive and helpful. Breakfast was good but could be improved by allowing more options for halal foods. With all those positives, this hotel had some negatives as well. These are Cons: 1. This hotel does not have any intercom, so communication is very difficult if your room is far away from the reception. They should introduce intercom asap. 2. The room had a bad smell which probably came from the old noisy air condition. 3. No Dtac mobile network there, which is not really a cons for the hotel but a warning for future travellers to Lanta. Do have your AIS or True SIM ready for Koh Lanta. Overall, this is a superb hotel with a stunning location which has some room for improvements.

Our special requests made beforehand were covered during our check-in, and for any problems we are asked to contact the Hotel Owners! Service was impeccable, everyone so friendly and really going out of their way for you. We did venture from the Hotel for a couple of meals but the resturant is such good quality and resonable price, that really no need. Some people recommend another Hotel in Koh Lanta, but doubt that you would the special individial touches that really make the Layana stand-out as a truley ouststanding place.

after being on the go moving from place to place in thailand, my husband and i decided we wanted to take some time out to relax and get away from some of the busy areas. an austrailian man recommend koh lanta to us, we hadn't planned on coming here but after we visited a travel agent in patong she also recommend koh lanta. we got a ferry from phuket to koh lanta, it was about 4 hrs, lanta miami had truck there to pick us up,when we arrived. the resort was nice and quiet, we didn't really leave the resort to explore other areas, we were fine with waking up having breakfast, laying at the pool and having our meals at the resort on the beach. p dang bar kept us happy with the laid back atmosphere and good drinks. majestic bar down the beach is a nice spot to stop in for drinks and food too. this was just what we needed to enjoy some r and r and no one was on the beach trying to sell anything. we will come back here next time in thailand.

The place was so quaint & there’s many great facilities & halal restaurant around. Don’t worry about finding great halal foods, there’s more than plenty in the tiny island itself! Plus there’s many local markets around to shop-hop. If you enjoy tranquility with no tourists spot, Alama Sea Village Resort is the best place to go! Would definitely return if we were to drop by Koh Lanta again :)

Our stay was the best we could hope for.after couple of years visiting all beaches from phuket, phiphi, samui, phangan, koh tao, sayang resort on ko lantas long beach became our dream come true. Great soft sandy beach,no rocks in water (can swimm without hurting yourself), simple yet very nice wooden bungallows in garden setting right on beah, whats totally necessary for our age (67yrs) are provided sunbeds in shadow, which isvrather a rarity on ko lanta beautifull beaches. Staff is extraordinary helpful and nice,it is for a reason that sayang gets so high ratings from gueats and i can only confirm those. So if you like nature, traquillity, prefer bungalows instead od big hotels and like to have breakfast in garden setting or dinners right on beach while watching sunsets, this is your place. If u borrow scooter, then u are totally free as of exploring other beaches or heading for dinner as there are hundreds of options within 10min drive, should u get bored by 2km long beach And its dozens of dinner/lunch options. We shall return for sure, not only to lanta, but specially to sayang.

Out of our 6 days in Koh Lanta, we got 4 days of Sun & this Hotel has private access to Klong Dao Beach! The resort is FULL of massive swimming pools. Great for swimming around and drinking by the side of the pool. Staff is very caring & sweet. Rooms are clean, comfortable and well equipped with DVD player and 42 inch lcd screens. Con: Wifi is not free. Try to get your room near their restaurant to enjoy free wifi. (Bigger pools are also opposite the main restaurant). Do not ask hotel staff for taxi to Krabi. Overpriced and non negotiable. Head down to the town and ask any one of the many tour booking agents. They'll give you the best price (2300-2500 baht to airport/Krabi town). It is 15 minutes walk from the closest markets (It has a small shabby market next doors but the main restaurants and shops are quite a fair distance away). My advice, get a bike for rental (got one at 160 baht per day for 5 days). Tuk tuk to main shops charge 100 baht (Which is a rip off but you cant negotiate cuz they have their charges written.). A pleasant walk down to the beach road 5 minutes away avoiding stray dogs and voila!! tuk tuk price is now 50 baht to the shops.

I was delighted with the warm hospitality, excellent breakfast and accommodation provided by Lanta Casuarina. My room was very clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The bathroom was modern and the shower was fantastic (warm water was always available in the shower area)but we did experience a little problem with the shower on the second dya which was fixed aft a phone call. Located in a great area & right on the beach where you can never miss the sunset! I would hihly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to Koh Lanta .

It is also a few steps from a beautiful beach and great for swimming any time of the day as there are very few rocks there, unlike some other beaches on Koh Lanta. Ray was always on hand to help with anything and organise trips. We often had the whole pool to ourselves although the other families that came were lovely so it was great for the kids to make friends and play in the pool. The villas are also really great and perfect for a little more privacy. The restaurants on the beach are next door and there is a very wide choice, along with some in the street behind. I would highly recommend staying here.

The Twin Lotus is a new, modern hotel in reduced but always pleasant design at Klong Dao Beach in Koh Lanta. We paid half of the regular price for a Deluxe Garden Villa and the room was well worth the money but I would not pay the double though. The bungalow style villas are spacious and tidy, the room service is discrete and effective, the staff is very friendly and always keen to help. Late check out wasn't a problem at all, although we only left at 3 pm. Downsides are that the level of English of the personnel is quite basic though and the service is not as attentive as I would expect for a five star hotel. The breakfast buffet was rich but with hardly any variety. Filling up bath room utensils like sanitary bags or complimentary tooth paste etc. did not happen, neither the laundry bags. On its webpage the hotel advertises a child free environment ('Please note: Twin Lotus Koh Lanta welcomes guests aged 18 years and over.') but there were lots of families with small children anyhow. As the hotel was not fully booked in late March/early April it did not bother us too much, but if you come in the main season and expect a calm environment you may be disappointed. The hotel bar closed far too early (around 9:30-10 pm), sometimes even before the restaurant, which is a pity if one would like to spend the evening chillaxing with a drink. The Beach Deluxe Villas may be more comfortable due to the fresh wind from the seaside. All in all, I would recommend the hotel, it is definitely one of the most luxurious ones on that beach, especially for the price we paid. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable time!

Koh Lanta was our favorite beach town destination. We liked Ao Nang in Krabi, but still a bit busy and Phuket was overcrowded and pretty gross. Koh Lanta is a place we can't wait to come back to. We were greeted with huge smiles and a friendly welcome, the staff here are wonderful. The rooms were big, clean and each room had an outside sitting area which looked out to the beach. They even have a beach front massage area, prices are more expensive, but it was the best massage we experienced. The hotel is quiet and relaxing. The breakfast is a standard buffet. Would HIGHLY recommend this hotel!!

The staffs at the reception were very helpful. We were also able to buy a weekly internet access coupon for 700 Thai Baht. Internet connection was good most of the time. A ten minute ride on the Tuk-Tuk taxi will take you into Saladan Town, where you can find shops, restaurants, banks, buy souvenirs, or go diving, etc. The residence is a very good place for families with young children. On the whole, Sai Naam Lanta Residence is a comfortable and relaxing place to stay.

For the price we paid we were very happy with the room, it could do with a bit of an upgrade but thats no big deal for the price. The location is good, the hotel backs straight onto the beach, not the best area for swimming though as you will see at low tide as there are rocks in the sea. But just a few minutes walk down the beach in a nice areafor swimming. The staff we're very attentive and friendly, especially in the restaurant. The included breakfast was chosen from a choice of 6 options for the weekdays we stayed there and then buffet style during the weekend because they were busier. Though I'm sure during high season it would be served buffet style every day.

The chef speaks poor english but still understandable. Every morning, I went outside and chill at the hammock, it feels like the best moment ever. You have to try!

Keep the hotel's telephone number at hand. My only regret was that I didn't stay longer (only 1 night) but the stay was nonetheless memorable. The room was impressive both in terms of design aesthetics and size. The high ceiling, coupled with the white theme really accentuates the space within. Furthermore, the Houben gave us a top floor room with a commanding view of Kan Tiang Bay. Choose from a selection of DVD movies for in-room entertainment, or you could take a dip in its infinity pool or just relax by the pool with a good book.

The staff were so helpful giving us advice on where to eat, which snorkel tour to take, providing a free shuttle to the closest town, giving us a cot for our 6 year old at no extra charge. Our daughter loved the pool and being able to use the unicorn and flamingo floaties. Bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent! The buffet breakfast was amazing. A mix of western and Thai breakfast choices. We enjoyed crossing the little creek to the north and getting 300 bhat massages at the local bar. The resort is a bit outside of town so it’s nice and quiet but you can’t just walk to town to check out shops and restaurants. Also Tuk Tuks are a lot more expensive at night and on average more so than in Chiang Mai and Bangkok. Getting to the resort from the Krabi Airport we just hopped on a minivan taxi for 400 bhat/person. Our daughter was free. It took about 2 hours to get there with all the stops to drop off other travelers. We loved our time in Koh Lanta and wished we could stay longer!

This was our last night on koh lanta and wished we'd gone here earlier. So pretty and surrounding views amazing. Beautiful well kept gardens and palm trees everywhere. It's not by restaurants although hotel food is good and decent prices. Get a tuk tuk(50bht each) or shuttle to main street where lots of places to eat. Gorgeous and big infinity pool. Views to die for on a sunny day (we went low season but were lucky there). Rooms were clean and comfy although no tea or coffee provided. Suggest it should be especially as even cheaper hostels we stayed in provided them along with toothbrushes, etc. Beach towels provided too 😁 Staff were extremely helpful and very lovely. Hotel organised shuttle back to mainland Krabi and airport for 300 bhat each. All in all a very enjoyable stay and wish we could've stayed longer. Thank you.

We had arrived to find out that the hostel had only been open for one week. The interior is well decorated in a contemporary, modern fashion. The doorms are also good and what is even better, is the cleanlieness of the bathroom and toilet. Wifi is one of the fastest we've had at a hostel. The entire hostel is cleaned every day including the dorms. What is even better is the fact that the owner allows his guests from the hostel to use the excellent swimming pool facility in his neighbouring resort. We were able to rent bikes from the reception and dealt with changing one of them. Overall this is a great hostel experience and visitors should not be put off by the fact that it is new and has few reviews up till now.

The hostel is a "pole house" on the water and the terrasse gives a really cosy and nice view. Good time to chill out there. The family who works here is incredibly kind and smily. Cons: The fans are pretty useless... Off or on, it is still hot. I traveled in Thailand for more than a month and half and it's the first time I see fan so useless. Problem is, it's really hot in the dorm room. Warmer than outside sometimes. Feel like in a oven. But it's getting better during the night. The terrasse wasn't accessible anymore for two or three days. Not the fault to the hostel and they appologize for it afterward but it would have been better to inform the guests before the works start. And not, on a morning, taking breakfast on the terrasse and suddenly being surrounded by workers men breaking walls and not understand what is going on.

I was lucky that the staff told me it was the grand opening day for this hotel. They invited me to taste local food and BBQ. I knew nothing about Koh lanta before until the reception girls showed me the map and introduce the tourist attractions. The room is quite clean and comfortable, have hot shower . Nice place to stay !

Overall, this is one of the best deals for travellers visiting Koh Lanta on a tight budget.

I was in Koh Lanta for 10 days and I've been in 4 different places, actually Claudio's place was the best one, the rooms are basic of course (for less than 13 boxes including breakfast the rooms should be basic) but really functional, there is a huge space under the bed where you can actually put a few backpack and some other stuff, there are 3 light spots, the main on...
I was in Koh Lanta for 10 days and I've been in 4 different places, actually Claudio's place was the best one, the rooms are basic of course (for less than 13 boxes including breakfast the rooms should be basic) but really functional, there is a huge space under the bed where you can actually put a few backpack and some other stuff, there are 3 light spots, the main one and 2 more aside the bed, many power points, a big ceiling fan, a mirror and a place to hang your clothes. Claudio's place got 3 rooms in total and there are 2 shared toilet and this quiet good if I think at the toilets per person in the Guests-Houses around in Thailand, him charges you 25 Baht for a towel (once) if you stay less than 3 nights. The breakfast is delicious and Claudio let you chose always between 2 or 3 different options with no extra charges. The place is in a good position close to the beach and the shops. I made a few excursions at the cheapest price in the island, and one of the most amazing diving in my life. Claudio take cares of everything and him make it with passion at a very resonable price. this place is maybe not a 10 out of 10 place (it's not even less tha a 8) but it actually deserve a 10 out of 10 for me, and I'll definitively come back.

Alessia and her husband "G. I. Joe" were great and attentive hosts. The guesthouse has a friendly and cosy atmosphere. The rooms are simple but clean and cost-effective. The beach is only about 100 - 200 metres from the place and also restaurants, bars and most ofthe amenities are in the range. Highly recommended.

My partner and I had a great stay at Lanta Local Huts. The huts are a decent size with a hammock out the front and the bathroom is spacious. We loved our 5 nights here and would definitely return. The staff was very nice and helpful, it’s right next to a not so crowded beach, and their scooter rentals were cheap compared to most other locations. Yes it’s hot with just a fan and insects end up in the bathroom, but this is the beach and it’s a cheap bungalow. It’s very nice for what you paid.

The room was double booked. That was not a problem because he arranged a room at the neighboring hostel (direct at the beach). Since we arrived earlier than the other people who rented the room, we could see the rooms first and than make the choice between the double booked room or the beach room. One slightly minor was the snorkeling trip he booked for us. It was overcrowded on the boat what made it an uncomfortable boat ride. I would suggest trying to go on your own account to one or two of the four islands on the trip. Other than that our stay was great and we will definitely stay again at the sake beach hostel. Recommendable!

Value for money, absolutely! Very clean, hospitality was great. Lots of good restaurants near by and a short walk to the best beach bar entertainment on Koh Lanta. For a person or couple looking for cheap clean accommodation that don’t need a pool or resort this is the place

Love the whole family that runs the Guest House, E and his family are welcoming and accommodating, it is clean, and a fair price. I have been coming here the past two years (i have stayed at the hostel, guest house, and resort) and all of them are excellent - I will continue to stay here every time I visit Koh Lanta 💙

Female dorm ensuite and mix dorm ensuite are very light, spacious and cozy. Very clean Cozy common space, good for both - meeting people and have working time if you need it Light breakfast in the morning (coffee, tea, toasts, jam) + water, coffee, tea all day long Nice back-yard for chilling Security is ok They rent bikes, all are in good conditions Cons Air con works only from 7 pm tp 10 am but it seems to be a common rule in Koh Lanta, I've asked at other 3 hostels and they have the same policy Mixed dorm without bathroom is tiny (though you can try to negotiate to have it on a lower price) Not really a minus but - 8-minute walk to the beach. But it's the same diatance for all hostels on the main road. Advice If you are a girl, book female dorm. Not only it is very nice and have own bathroom it also has a balcony for chilling. The hostel is quite new, taxi drivers don't know its location. Use Ko Lanta Post office as a landmark (it is next door to hostel)

Well, there are some parties on few days - but in whole area you live safe and silent with ear plugs ;) The money you safe in hello me me you can invest in a lot of other things like tours or massages. Room gets cleaned as often you ask for. Water is only "cold" but who needs warm water here? It's damn hot! :) Best: water pressure is very high. So nice under the shower...

But you will be able to manage your morning wash. As others mentioned: the mattress is very stony. But this did not held us from sleeping :) Best for this budget!

The front desk guy~ Sen, was overly accommodating in the absolute best of ways. He also speaks very good english & will help you in anyway to communicate things to other Thai people. There is a really cute cat named Eagle who doesn't live at the hostel but comes around most nights to visit the young boy who lives there (also very cute), this was a HUGE bonus for us as we are cat lovers. The beer & water was always cold & cheap. Our private room had a king size bed and has been the most comfortable bed we've slept in for 2 weeks!! We rented scooters right from the hostel which was very convenient & they sell gas also. They can organize trips, tours and transportation, although we didn't utilize that service. Koh Lanta, our favourite stop in Thailand <3

These guys doing it for passion not for profit. That´s for sure! The location is very good because you are in the central area of Koh Lanta. Saladang area in the north are quite near just as old town and national park in the south. On the main road northwards are some tasty restaurants. Check tripadvisor or other services to get a clue on them or just go and try them out. :) Interesting for muslim guests is the mosque near to Dreamy Casa and several helal restaurants on the whole islands. You should go for them even if your not muslim. Friendly people and tasty food! Opposite of Dreamy casa there is a small side road which leads you to the beach with everything you need. Shop, laundry, car/motor bike rental (ask for Khun Nood´s shop. No scam and very good vehicles and tasty N&N restaurant with very friendly staff. They have bamboo huts with small tables in it from which you can enjoy your food and beverages with a nice view on the beach.

We stayed here for 3 nights after taking in a week of quiet jungle time. It's so close to Klong Khong Beach you can smell the ocean in the air. This beach is more of the party zone rather than fancy villas/resorts like other beaches, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a specific good time. We stayed in an air con bungalow, was not the Ritz but did it's job well for us. Right next to the bungalow was a communal kitchen for 24 hour use to guests, with markets and stores within walking distance to buy your own food for cooking. They offered scooter rentals, we had major problems with that. The company they rented through gave us a scooter with a bad wheel (the wheel had a spoke that kept puncturing the o-ring, hence flat tire two times in a row.) We wound up leaving the scooter parked on the side of the road and walked back to the property and handed in the keys the same day we rented the scooter. They were kind enough to take care of everything, despite the contract we signed saying that we were responsible for anything with the scooter. They refunded us the $250 baht we payed to rent it, plus what we payed ourselves to get the tire fixed the first time it happened (150 baht) They didn't have to do that, but they did and that was very kind of them during extreme circumstances. It seemed like everyone else riding scooters there were not having issues, so I think we were just having unfortunate luck. For the price (so much cheaper than far far worse options out there) is worth the stay. If you stay away from restaurants on the beach, you can find cheaper better ones just down the road from this property of the main drag. Great location if this is the area of videos you're looking for. (FlinStoned Bar is a 5 minute walk away down the beach, didn't go for the cocktails on the menu ;) Also, this property offers all sorts of tours and good prices, taxi service, destination out of Koh Lanta... Might be worth going through them and save yourself a few doll

I booked a fanbungalow for 4nights. It was a bambu hut with a open door for spiders, mice, geekos and mosquitos. The bungalow was full of spiderwebs and the bed was so small we had to put luggage on both sides of the bed, otherwise the mosquito net would lie on both my face and feet. Horrible room typ.

Trinlada is always available for any request or problem that you may have with a big smile on her face. The hostel is about 3 minutes walk to the beach through a wild path behind the hostel. Clean and comfy dorms, new towels every two or three days, really good breakfast and free cold water. You can take a scooter for going around the island (cheap cheap) or book a 1-day-tour to the small islands near Koh Lanta (recomended). Also you have a restaurant and a bakery around the corner where you can taste a really good vegan pad thai and an incredible cheesecake. Minimart crossing the street. Thank you for everything my Thai family!

Blanco hostel was perfect for what I wanted while I was on koh lanta! I came to do yoga and chill. It definitely didn't have party vibes, I actually felt like most people kept to themselves unless you shared a dorm with them, but the place itself was super clean, the AC worked well, and the walk to the beach was 5 minutes!

Thank you. L. Nielsen

Plus there’s many local markets around to shop-hop. If you enjoy tranquility with no tourists spot, Alama Sea Village Resort is the best place to go! Would definitely return if we were to drop by Koh Lanta again :)

There are various places nearby to buy snacks, eat meals or buy the usual daily toiletries outside the residence. The residence is also close to the beach, which is a 2 minute walk away.

A true gem in Koh Lanta Yai, albeit still relatively unknown among locals in both Lanta and Krabi Town (which can be a problem when it comes to getting a taxi). A true gem in Koh Lanta Yai, albeit still relatively unknown among locals in both Lanta and Krabi Town (which can be a problem when it comes to getting a taxi).

Pros: -Good location mid-island so you are not too far from anything. -Easy and cheap motorbike rentals right from the hotel. -Awesome pool, not too busy and well-kept. -The hotel's restaurant across the street makes great food. -Great staff. The owner and her staff are very active and helpful. At the same time, they're also laid back and flexible depending on your circumstance (we had to change our room once and they were very accommodating). -Got the best massage of my life from one of her masseuses. Very therapeutic and deep tissue. -If you're into mushrooms they have mushroom shake places at the nearby beach bars, but the availability might be seasonal, not sure if they have them all year round. Cons: -Can't think of many cons, but it did seem slightly expensive for what we were paying for (it was high season, but still). -It's not a secret, but the beach closest to Pinky is not suitable for swimming because of the rocks. There is a nearby beach about a 5-minute motorbike ride north of Pinky that is great for swimming. Overall: I would definitely stay there again. We got to see some of the other hotels/resorts on the island and Pinky Bungalows seemed superior. Tips: -The speedboat from Koh Lanta back to Phuket is MUCH more convenient than the ferry, which is overloaded with passengers and extremely slow. It is more expensive but I think it's totally worth it. You can book it from Pinky. -Rent a motorbike and go check out Koh Lanta old town and other parts of the island. It was really fun.

Next door to the Hotel is the "Why Not Bar". The band starts at 9.30pm and is great for a couple of lazy night caps... not so great if you like to go to bed early. The only negative of this hotel or the area is that there seems to be a competition amongst the beach front hotels on playing music all day. At the Phra Nang it starts at 7.00 in the morning and depending who is on duty will determine how loud it is.

This was a pretty good hotel. Stayed there with my friends visiting from the U.S. The pool was nice and the staff was great. The hotel is actually much smaller and I would say maybe not quite as nice as the pictures reveal, but it was clean and great for our stay in Koh Lanta.

The bungalows are set in the gardens close to the beach. They are very design orientated, though quite small. The walls open up completely, though to be honest I would have preferred some windows as it felt a bit constricted and like a wooden box. Saying that we had a lovely stay and I would go back. The swimming pool is very nice, long enough to swim some laps. There were enough loungers by the pool and the edge of the garden / beginning of the beach. The food in the restaurant was amazing, not cheap compared to other restaurants but SO much better. We really enjoyed our stay here!

One of the better small hotels in Koh Lanta. Located at the northern end of the island close to the ferries. Staff where very friendly and helpful in all matters. Very quiet location for relaxing. This vist was in the low season, high season would see a very different, busy, and somewhat overloaded Koh Lanta.

The whole stay was simply fantastic! Suki was the manager and she was very friendly and attended to our silly needs. The bungalow came equipped with all the amenities you can think of. They even got me wife the microphones :( The view was very breathtaking. It overlooks the beach and mountains. It is true what Suki said. The Baan kan tiang bay is the most beautiful...

The Baan kan tiang bay is the most beautiful place of the whole Koh lanta, the villa is residing in one of the most peaceful and serene places we have ever been. The bungalow is spanking new so it's quite well maintained and clean. Suki greeted us with fantastic welcome gifts. I'm not going to reveal more. Let it be a surprise for you ;) Not forgetting Benson, that lil pooch that never forgets to greet us everyday. All in all it was a brilliant stay and we could never ask for more. Thanks guys for taking care of our holidays !

We really enjoyed our stay in the Rawi Koh Lanta. Koh Lanta itself was our favourite place we visited when we travelled to Phuket. We stayed at the Rawi over the xmas period which meant we paid a lot for a room, Way more than the rest of the year - so in terms of value for money our score would be higher if we travelled at another time.

We did venture from the Hotel for a couple of meals but the resturant is such good quality and resonable price, that really no need. Some people recommend another Hotel in Koh Lanta, but doubt that you would the special individial touches that really make the Layana stand-out as a truley ouststanding place.

Pros: Incredibly caring staff! Gave us a free upgrade to the Villa with private pool. (Travelling during low peak season).

Traveler impressions of Koh Lanta
Most beautiful place in Thailand, not for partiers or nightlife but for people who want to enjoy the beautiful surrounding and relax.
The people on the island are so friendly and so happy to help you, we loved learning about their culture and felt so safe and welcome. We visited some of the other islands on the East side and we were so shocked at how commercialised and polluted these islands are becoming, Koh Lanta has done an amazing job and preventing this and we hope this continues as this is an amazing place and we will definitely be back. This is not a party island so don't come here for all night beach parties fire throwers and loud music, there are a few chilled out bars on the beach that looked amazing even tho we didn't have time for that on our stay. The beaches we visited had no rubbish, nothing built up and looked to be respected by all those using it which is really great to see. Thank you Koh Lanta, we will be back.
Koh Rok ( Rok Island ) is very very beautiful , you can join 1 day tour go to visit it. Only THB 1300 u can get everything at this trip , just go to take a look .
Nice town, busy, lots of dining, pubs/bars, easy to get around. Relaxing atmosphere- a person can make it as busy or as relaxing as one wants
It was a stunning end to our holiday after the busy time we had on Phuket . We explored Lanta on scooters which was great .
Old Lanta town with it's unique market along the waterfront really nice. The viewpoint was breath taking. A 4 island day trip really special( picked us up on our hotel beach) .We also crossed over to Lanta north island on the bike ferry( quite an experience with our scooters) and enjoyed a scenic drive in the dense lush vegetation.Long Beach of the Pra Ae beach area our resort was on was fantastic and a real hive of activity at night with many, many restaurants to chose from and music and colored lights as far as the eyes could see. The Saladan Pier area fantastic for restaurants, bars and shopping !Shops and ATMs aplenty and fuel available along all roads to refuel your scooters. A really special place!
If you're looking for a relaxed spot for sun, sand and diving / snorkeling that hasn't been over developed / hyped then Koh Lanta is ideal.
I hope it manages to maintain it's relaxed and layed back atmosphere.
Quite and beautiful island and not far - can be access by car from mainland. Easy to get halal food and the food is fantastic.
Koh Lanta is an amazing place, perfect for relaxing. Totally different than anywhere else in Thailand.
Still quite traditional. Highly recommended!
Koh Lanta is a very great place to visit. Nice visit to Old Lanta, great beaches on new Lanta side.
The overall experience is really bad. I had booked an air-cond van from Krabi Town to Koh Lanta Hotel.
However, the air cond van driver just left us 300m from the hotel. The worst thing is IT WAS RAINING HEAVILY. My niece and I have to walk up to the hotel under the rain. I told myself, I would like come again ever to this Koh Lanta or Krabi. I would like recommend any one to this location also. Then, during this very low season, there is nothing on the island.
Koh Lanta is a nice quiet place compared to other islands in Thailand. Very recommendable for families with kids.
Good for couples & relaxation. Trying to find 'I Love Lanta' t-shirt but none is available. Nothing much to do here.
this island is getting busier, but it's still really laid back. Driving around it is still possible, and is good value.
Nearby dive sites are excellent, and lots of sights to see. Well worth visiting if you want to just chill. There is some mellow nightlife, but mostly it's the beaches and diving that are the attraction.
Diving is much too expensive, comparable to the Maldives but offering less to see underwater. Only the entrance fee in the national park for diving is roundabout 25 USD!!!
We love koh Lanta because it is peaceful and good if you want a relaxing time away from work and worries.
I'm a scuba diver, I've made three trips to Koh Lanta in a year, and I'll go back, the combination of the peaceful evenings and beauty beneath the waves is incomparable, I fear for it ever becoming as popular as Phuket and ruining it.
Very relaxed and not as developed as other areas of Thailand. Do take a trip over to the old town for something different.
Diving off the island was fantastic and I'd highly recommend ScubaFish as a company to dive with. I am an experienced diver & my partner is a novice & nervous snorkeler and we both found them absolutely brilliant. Thai food highlights include BeeBee Bungalows, Fusion Bar and Dareen Resort. The Greek restaurant on Klong Khong was a surprisingly successful deviation for the norm.
After a roundtrip in Thailand we fell absolutely in love with Koh Lanta and next time I visit Thailand this will be my destination.
There is a great variety of restaurants and shopping. We didn't really see anything cultural but that must be on the to do list next time.
We went in low season, lots of things closed. Not a lot going on. A long way to travel for not a lot of excitement.
I love Koh Lanta. I hope the bridge to to the mainland will change nothing, as I sincerely hope that the island will stay as it is and not become the next Phuket.
Koh Lanta has a bit of "real Thailand" and everything else that I need as a tourist. If you want sunbeds and Bangla road, go to Phuket. It you want cool bars with cool beer on remote beaches, go to Lanta.
If you want to go to the island with car or motorbike the ferry queue is quite short. There is very nice beach in Lanta National Park, but if you want to go on the hiking trail in the jungle, better leave your vehicle near ticket booth up hill, because the trail ends there.
Just perfect!!!! We love Koh Lanta, this place is quite enough to perfect and have enough of the shop and nightlife to feel your not on a deserted island.
My family extended our trip because it was perfect . The shopping is great and the beached are not filled with sellers . There is a great vibe the Thai people loves children and my girls love the Thai mums that loved to play with there hair.
We loved koh lanta it's a quite Island but has enough to do and see. The beaches are clean and not over crowed with loads of jet skis.
The island is friendly and and warm. There are many great places to eat the only thing I would say is that at some places the portions of food is very small. The old town is so beautiful and quaint. We can't wait to go back!
Great island that is not as hectic or as scarred as the other more famous islands (Samui, Phuket etc).
Lanta has a great feel to it and the people living there were always helpful. Loved Lanta and will definitely return.
Koh lanta is partially underestimated island. It does not have white sand and beauty perfectness of Phi Phi (which is only 1 H 20 min by ferry) but it still has nice beaches, hotels for different taste and wide choise of activities at relatively low prices.
Sometimes it seemed that there are only a few tourists - an illussion which is created by rather large territory of the island and numerosity of hotels. A clear advantage: If you like isolation - south of the island at your disposal. There are several hotels which can offer you very quite and relaxed atmosphere. You like night life? Lots of bars along the beach in the middle of the island. If you like diving: several great locations are accessible through the island (I took services of Russian guys from OK diving). 4 islands excursion which is offered everywhere is not worth attending: I'd advice attenting nearby islands by yourself (for instance Ko Kradan - very beautiful island with white sand and emerald water with very few hotels and Ko Rok for snorkeling). I'd also advice taking a scooter to go around - it will save you a lot of time and money. Renting a scooter costs only 250 bats whereas taking a short distance taxi - min 100 bats per person. Among disadvantages: during low tide sea is not accessible from beaches of the middle part of the island due to numerous and large boulders. The nature is not that beautiful as on Phi Phi and other small islands of Krabi.
for peacefull, don't need pub bar u can find food in cheap price form small local vendor all Lanta island.
it the best place for family vacation. very relax and quiet. i have been here 5 time and i will come again.
Koh Lanta is a nice place to just hang out or doing nothing, away from the hustle and bustle of Krabi.
However, it never shorts from all the attraction that a beautiful island could offer.
Koh Lanta..... What a beautiful island! My partner and I love Koh Lanta so much we extended our stay, and will be returning next week after doing our visa run to malaysia! We fell in love with koh lanta.
With the guys in the bar at Monkey Bungalow's + Monkey bar ( Adam & Lert ) to everyone on the island! Rent a scooter and go around the island, stop off and take a few pictures of the beaches. Watch out for the monkeys crossing the roads! Ride the elephants, go and see the waterfalls, its just so so beautiful! This island is to relax on, don't expect everything to happen as quickly as it does in the UK. This island is paradise, if you want to chill out on triangle cushions and watch the sunset then Koh Lanta is the perfect place to do this on :)
Koh Lanta is an island full of beautiful beaches. It is not as busy as the more popular islands, so is perfect for a real getaway.
There are enough bars and restaurants dotted everywhere along the larger beaches, and plenty of little hidden-away ones also. Visit Koh Lanta National Park for scenery and monkeys! And sunsets.
Koh Lanta is a very nice region in the south of Thailand. It is not overloaded by tourists yet and there is almost no nightlife, therefore it is very good for people and families who simply like to relax.
There are very nice diving places (I recommend "Go Dive Lanta") to reach by a boat or paradise-like beaches that one can reach by a speedboat or longtail boat. Furthermore, there is a national park where monkeys can be seen. Renting a motorbike is very easy and the food was fantastic. Unfortunately Koh Lanta is not so good for shopping - You will get the typical "tourists' clothes" at Saladan or small shops. Souvenirs are more expensive than in Bangkok, for example, however the fod is much cheaper.

More about Koh Lanta
When looking to break away from the beach, visitors to the island can visit Khao Mai Kaew Caves and even take an elephant ride to reach it. Lanta’s Old Town provides an experience of the cultural diversity with Chinese merchants, an ancient Sea Gypsy community, and original Thai fishing families. Flower lovers will certainly enjoy a stop at the orchid nursery farm. Snorkeling and diving, fishing, and trekking are other popular activities.
The nearest airports to Koh Lanta are Krabi, Trang, and Phuket with speedboat and car ferries providing access to the island. Once on the island, pickup trucks and motorcycles are the most common ways to get around.
Be sure to check out the interactive map of Koh Lanta for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
