I hired a motorbike at the wharfe and started to drive to Aow Yai beach.I spotted Phayam Sport Bungalow. It looks different and interesting. I really enjoyed my stay. I joined in with the other guests and played various sports. What a great idea. The rooms were clean and I slept well at night. It was a short walk to the beach along a shady path. I loved my morning swim. I will stay here for sure again.

High on stilts among the old rubber trees and close to the most amazing beach this is the perfect place to relax and experience Thailand away from the crowds. You can sit in the hammock and watch Hornbills and gliding lizards flying between the trees. A basic room but everything you need. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. An easy walk to the perfect, secluded beach and everything else a short scooter ride away.

pros: -10/10 location! The bungalows are right at the beach, even when you have the most budget one (we did). It is also only a 10 min. walk to the center and pier where the best food and bars are. - 10/10 staff! They are the nicest people we met so far that own a accommedation in Thailand. They booked everything for us wich including a ferry from Ko Phayam, a Bus down south aswell as the cheapest taxi service in between. They also rent mopeds without taking your passport or making you pay for the whole part if you do end up having a small scratch on it. 10/10 price! If you are traveling on a budget it might be the best options on the island! We saw some other budget places but they did not look very inviting. cons: - 5/10 cleanliness! We stayed in the budget bungalow where you do not have your own bathroom and yeah, the showers and toilets for everyone were not the best. Another point was the bungalow itself. The mosquito net, the bed aswell as the towels had kind of an old smell to them. - 7/10 for the overall place! The place itself has a restaurant and a bar but they are a little too expensive if you take in to account that you pay half the price of the food when you walk for 10 min. We also thought that the overall cleanliness of the place was lacking a little bit. conclusion: its a very great place if you are traveling on a budget and if you want to be surrounded by friendly people and very kind owners!

Lucky resort is such a nice place to chill off season. We just spent 4 days there with my best friend, off season, and we could not dream of a better place to stay. Kluy is such a sweat guy, we had a chance to meet others guys and hang out with them. We felt great for these 4 days and we are absolutely looking forward to coming back to Koh Phayam next year. It was our first time to Koh Phayam and Aow Yai Bungalows ensured it would not be our last. The staff were always friendly and gave great service with smiles. The breakfast that came with the rooms was of good quality and rather tasty. We had the bungalows with a fan and a seaview and it was more than adequate. The beach almost seemed private and the only noise you could hear was the surf and geckos at night (noisy little guys). We loved that the resort provided free body boards to try out in the sea. On our next trip to Koh Phayam we will definitely be staying at Aow Yai Bungalows again. It was such a relaxing trip.

JJ is a lovely hotel with a beautiful garden--we stayed in a beach front cabin. The owners of the hotel were just so kind and hospitable and helpful--ordering us taxis, phoning places to get information for us, booking boats...they always seemed happy to do whatever they could for us. Another noteworthy mention: the food. Great Thai restaurant for very decent prices and a perfect view of the sunset. Highly recommend JJ!!!

This resort offers a very wide range of rooms and prices, and is thus absolutely perfect when traveling with a big group of friends. Everyone can find a room that would match their price range and/or taste. The staff are incredibly helpful. They took great care of us and tried to be as accomodating as possible. Moreover, the restaurant serves good food with freshly brewed coffee in pots, which was really nice. When it comes to the beach, this resort is located on the Southern end of Buffalo Bay, which has some of the best sand and the best views on the entire Koh Phayam. We absolutely loved it. The low tide exposes vast swathes of sand here, but while we were visiting this occured only late in the afternoon, right when we felt like exploring other parts of the island. It's not rocky, and even when the tide is low it is possible to walk up to the swimming areas on the Western side of the bay. During high tide, the deep, calm water of the bay is just amazing. This resort does provide showers right by the beach (not always the case in Thailand), and they also have really cool hammocks to rest after swimming. I would definitely stay here again!

This is our second visit to Friends in Koh Phayam. As ever, Nicky was welcoming and friendly. The setting is very laid back, nothing is a hassle and they're always quick to respond to anything. When one of us was ill they helpfully returned our scooter. The huts and some of the structure are looking a bit run down (we stayed in bungalow not tents), nothing that would get in your way, but noticeable when you consider the price and nearby resorts. Still, location makes up for it, and food is excellent (village is only a short walk away - cheaper too). Free use of safe and transparency on settling bills/looking after your valuables shows they mean what they say on trust and friendship.

I had a relaxing visit to Ko Phayam and stayed at Phayam Boathouse which is located very close to the pier. Lots of great restaurants, convenience stores and bike shops located nearby. The owners were very accommodating, provided excellent tips on what to see and where to eat on the island and even helped me arrange return speed boat ticket at a better rate. Khun Pen and her husband were very friendly and I would highly recommend you to stay at this property. See you next time I visit Ko Phayam!

We stayed in a wooden bungalow for one week, which was equipped with a nice soft and big bed roofed by a elegant mosiquito-net. The room is very tidy, clean and we loved the little terrace with the hammock, as we could see lots of beautiful birds and other animals just by sitting outside our bungalow. The host, Lek, and his staff were welcoming, warmhearted and provided us with usefull tips and help with booking-procedures. Rabbit Bungalow provides decent food and our favourite restaurant (cha chai's home) was only some walkingminutes away (about one scooter-minute, which might be more relevant, as almost everyone on ko phayam rents a scooter). Rabbit bungalow is located very centrally on koh phayam, you can reach the pier and most beaches within a short time. The next beach, buffalo bay, is in about 5min walking distance. Please notice that nice wildlife in front of your door might mean wildlife indoors, but our animal guests were mostly well behaving and we didn't mind for them.

It’s great that this place is open in the off season. The food that we have had has been delicious! We were a group of 3 and stayed in the rustic family cabins. Power stayed on all night. The mosquito net had some holes and needed stretching to be tucked under the mattress. There’s only a top sheet so if you think you might get cold bring your own blanket or towel to add warmth. The staff have been nothing but helpful and great! The owner is friendly and has a lot of experience in the area.

I love everything about this accommodation, of course it's not the 5 stars resort but you will feel like a home when you stay at Little Hut. I love the foods there, their chef is excellent, I love every single dish we ordered. Even it's quite far from the pier but riding a motorcycle or take a motorcycle taxi to get here isn't that bad and it's not far from Ao Yai Bay, just around five minutes walk. The accommodation is quite nice, but the weak point is ants (for me), i got bitten the last night I stayed there but it's not a big deal though. Wifi is really good :-) I had a great time staying at Little Hut, I recommend this place!

Very good location on the centre of the beach. Very basic accommodations, but it's all you need when in koh phayam. Would be nice if you received 2 bottles of water each day as most places do. Also having to ask for toilet paper everyday was a bit of a pain, but honestly it's a very chill island so no big deal.. All the staff were extremely friendly and the food was good as well. Would consider returning next time in phayam.

I am a foreign teacher living in nearby Ranong and traveled to Koh Phayam for the weekend. I wanted to stay near the beach and Bamboo Bungalows does NOT disappoint. The property is directly on the beach and has an open restaurant where you can enjoy dinner while watching cotton candy level sunsets. This place is amazing and the staff is SO friendly. I really enjoyed my time here even though my trip was cut short. I will be coming back and I'd highly recommend staying here for your trip to Koh Phayam!

We stayed here for a couple of nights in November and it was amazing. The loft bungalows were nice and clean and the pool was really nice! The walls opend like windows so it was easy to get fresh air into the bungalow. The best parts of our stay here were our host Jay, he's probably the most wonderful and helpful person we've ever met. (He told us which places on the island We should go check out and how to get there. And he helped us to book our trip to Koh Tao!) On our first night there Jay organized a barbecue for all the guests so we all ate together, drank some beer, chilled and talked by the pool. It was really fun! The annual Loi Krathong festival happend to be held on the second night of our stay at Koh Phayam so we all went together to the pier to watch the full moon and few of us sent a kràthong in the waterways. After that we all went together to eat dinner at a local restaurant. Our stay was amazing and I would definitely recommend this place!

A local peaceful location with only the sound of birdsong and waves from the ocean.. The food at the restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced. Chooky the waiter was charming and funny! The bungalow was comfortable with a nice veranda and side view of the sea. The beach is clean and lovely and they provide sunloungers. Nice clear water. The only downside was the tide went out at 3pm. Otherwise highly recommended. Would definitely stay here again.

We booked the room online for one night. When we arrived at the reception at 5 PM, the guy at the desk told us that the rooms are all occupied. His excuse was that he didn't have WIFI that morning to check the bookings or close the bookings. My main problem was that he wasn't helpful at all. He just said he is full and we should go somewhere else. He didn't help with sorting out any other accommodation or tell us which direction we should go to find similar bungalows etc. That's all.
