Always a pleasure to stay at the Blue sky resort koh phayam. In my opinion it's the best resort on the island if you just looking to chill out and relax. The food is good and not too expensive like some 4 star resorts on the island. We got this villa 20% cheaper booking with Agoda than if we would of booked via the resort website. We had a wonderful time in Koh Phayam. The resort is literally on the beach - pure white sands and crystal clear waters. Absolutely beautiful. The bungalows are fairly basic but well constructed and comfortable. The food is great and very reasonable. Favourite island in Thailand. Staff are lovely.

Koh Phayam is a beautiful island. Buffalo Bay Beach is more quiet than Long Beach. BBVC It is a great resort to relax. The rooms have a very good standard and you get a good value for the money. Make sure you have your ferry or speedboat to the island organized.

Our trip to Koh Phayam was such a dream, made even more special by Katie and her team at Phayamas. Our trip to Koh Phayam was such a dream, made even more special by Katie and her team at Phayamas. I definitely recommend letting Katie organize all your transfers (so easy!) and renting motorbikes, as the resort is a little way from the main road and from Long Beach. That being said, it's not far from BEAUTIFUL buffalo bay and, of course, you have the option of swimming at the resort's own beach. While it's not as beautiful as those other two, is still nice to relax each arvo. We were a group of three in a Family bungalow and it was one of the most modern and fresh bungalows I've ever stayed in. The beds were big and comfy and the showers hot and clean. The balcony with beanbags and a hammock was so relaxing .The new pool is perfect and love the addition of floating beds! My only suggestion would be to offer a larger variety of breakfast options and maybe spread the food over more tables, as it was pretty hectic each morning trying to access the buffet. Thanks again, we will be back!

Very good location on the centre of the beach. Very basic accommodations, but it's all you need when in koh phayam. Would be nice if you received 2 bottles of water each day as most places do. Also having to ask for toilet paper everyday was a bit of a pain, but honestly it's a very chill island so no big deal.. All the staff were extremely friendly and the food was g...

The view from the beach biew bungalows is absolutely stunning. The rooms are very nice and clean and the outdoor shower gives you bit of a jungle experience - with high standard facilities. In the rooms they provide you a watertank with glasses - a very nice service wich helps you to avoid unnecessary trash by water bottles. The restaurant is also very good: the food is decent, everything is really nice and individually decorated. You can feel and see the engagement and creativity of the staff. A lot of products on the menu are homemade and the staff was always very helpful to help worh vegetarian alternatives. We were absolutely happy that we had chosen Heaven Beach as our place to stay on Koh Phayam. The only little negative thing was that there were a lot of families staying at the place to - so the "lonely-island-silence" was sometimes disturbed by kids. For families and/or people that don't mind kids around Heaven Beach might just be the perfect place for your stay on beautiful Koh Phayam. Luckily for everyone else, the owners run a second place on Koh Phayam: "child-free" PP Land.

The room is very tidy, clean and we loved the little terrace with the hammock, as we could see lots of beautiful birds and other animals just by sitting outside our bungalow. The host, Lek, and his staff were welcoming, warmhearted and provided us with usefull tips and help with booking-procedures. Rabbit Bungalow provides decent food and our favourite restaurant (cha chai's home) was only some walkingminutes away (about one scooter-minute, which might be more relevant, as almost everyone on ko phayam rents a scooter). Rabbit bungalow is located very centrally on koh phayam, you can reach the pier and most beaches within a short time. The next beach, buffalo bay, is in about 5min walking distance. Please notice that nice wildlife in front of your door might mean wildlife indoors, but our animal guests were mostly well behaving and we didn't mind for them.

The only downside was the tide went out at 3pm. Otherwise highly recommended. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful time at Ailay. We booked the comfort bungalow directly on the beach and really loved it. The Frog is one of the most remote accommodations on Koh Phayam, so do not take a taxi when you go there, rent a motorbike right in the village when you arrive, you'll need it for the duration of you stay at the island. The bungalows is not on the beach or beach facing, they are placed in the forrest, where there is no wind. It get's rather hot during the afternoon and will stay so throughout the night. The bungalows can just accommodate a bed, nothing else, in the night you only have 1 light bulb in the room, so if you need light you must bring you own battery operated torch, because power cannot be provide from the installation in the bungalow. Beds are hard, sheets to cover yourself are only provided on request. Bathroom is connected to the room, but is under the open sky. So expect to have the floor covered with leaves. Daily cleaning is not part of the services. The restaurant serves good food, and their breakfast deal is a good deal for you. The neighbor is Rasta Baby, and they will provide music from sometime in the afternoon until 2.00 AM. The beach is with white and gray sand, clean, but the water is rather shallow so you tend to walk a long time before you can swim. The water seems clean but the waves rolls up the sand to make the water unclear.

(He told us which places on the island We should go check out and how to get there. And he helped us to book our trip to Koh Tao!) On our first night there Jay organized a barbecue for all the guests so we all ate together, drank some beer, chilled and talked by the pool. It was really fun! The annual Loi Krathong festival happend to be held on the second night of our stay at Koh Phayam so we all went together to the pier to watch the full moon and few of us sent a kràthong in the waterways. After that we all went together to eat dinner at a local restaurant. Our stay was amazing and I would definitely recommend this place!

the bungalows are new and very nice, you can see the ocean from each one. The resort is almost at the end of the beach but you can reach all the other places by foot. The restaurant had great shakes and nice food and the staff was the nicest we’ve had on our whole trip! Would definitely stay there again.

The breakfast that came with the rooms was of good quality and rather tasty. We had the bungalows with a fan and a seaview and it was more than adequate. The beach almost seemed private and the only noise you could hear was the surf and geckos at night (noisy little guys). We loved that the resort provided free body boards to try out in the sea. On our next trip to Koh Phayam we will definitely be staying at Aow Yai Bungalows again. It was such a relaxing trip.

I love the foods there, their chef is excellent, I love every single dish we ordered. Even it's quite far from the pier but riding a motorcycle or take a motorcycle taxi to get here isn't that bad and it's not far from Ao Yai Bay, just around five minutes walk. The accommodation is quite nice, but the weak point is ants (for me), i got bitten the last night I stayed there but it's not a big deal though. Wifi is really good :-) I had a great time staying at Little Hut, I recommend this place!

very comfortable and clean bed. The resort is very well maintenanced. really super tasty meal, also good price. Super coffee and cocktail. The bamboo cottages are located in a nice graden, hospitality is grate, very kind and respectfull. if u are looking for nature staying not fare from beaches its right place for you. Wifi is only at restaurant.

Everyone can find a room that would match their price range and/or taste. The staff are incredibly helpful. They took great care of us and tried to be as accomodating as possible. Moreover, the restaurant serves good food with freshly brewed coffee in pots, which was really nice. When it comes to the beach, this resort is located on the Southern end of Buffalo Bay, which has some of the best sand and the best views on the entire Koh Phayam. We absolutely loved it. The low tide exposes vast swathes of sand here, but while we were visiting this occured only late in the afternoon, right when we felt like exploring other parts of the island. It's not rocky, and even when the tide is low it is possible to walk up to the swimming areas on the Western side of the bay. During high tide, the deep, calm water of the bay is just amazing. This resort does provide showers right by the beach (not always the case in Thailand), and they also have really cool hammocks to rest after swimming. I would definitely stay here again!

Would like them to clean the mosquitoes net one day before customer check in. Because when I loose the net all the dirty things on top of then fall down over the bed. They also open restaurant but only open on high season. And yes definitely recommend here to stay.

We stayed here for 5 days. This is a very back to basics bungalow with no telly / air con or hot water, however it was amazing value for money and the fan kept the room cool enough. The cold shower was a blessing after a hot day. Koh Phayam has some breathtaking beaches so you won’t be spending much time in the room anyway.

It is also only a 10 min. walk to the center and pier where the best food and bars are. - 10/10 staff! They are the nicest people we met so far that own a accommedation in Thailand. They booked everything for us wich including a ferry from Ko Phayam, a Bus down south aswell as the cheapest taxi service in between. They also rent mopeds without taking your passport or making you pay for the whole part if you do end up having a small scratch on it. 10/10 price! If you are traveling on a budget it might be the best options on the island! We saw some other budget places but they did not look very inviting. cons: - 5/10 cleanliness! We stayed in the budget bungalow where you do not have your own bathroom and yeah, the showers and toilets for everyone were not the best. Another point was the bungalow itself. The mosquito net, the bed aswell as the towels had kind of an old smell to them. - 7/10 for the overall place! The place itself has a restaurant and a bar but they are a little too expensive if you take in to account that you pay half the price of the food when you walk for 10 min. We also thought that the overall cleanliness of the place was lacking a little bit. conclusion: its a very great place if you are traveling on a budget and if you want to be surrounded by friendly people and very kind owners!

When one of us was ill they helpfully returned our scooter. The huts and some of the structure are looking a bit run down (we stayed in bungalow not tents), nothing that would get in your way, but noticeable when you consider the price and nearby resorts. Still, location makes up for it, and food is excellent (village is only a short walk away - cheaper too). Free use of safe and transparency on settling bills/looking after your valuables shows they mean what they say on trust and friendship.

Clean basic bungalow let down a little by the bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was good. A little far out from the centre of things but a few other bars/restaurants close by. We were in the cheapest bungalows and about 100m from the beach.
A local peaceful location with only the sound of birdsong and waves from the ocean.. The food at the restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced. Chooky the waiter was charming and funny! The bungalow was comfortable with a nice veranda and side view of the sea. The beach is clean and lovely and they provide sunloungers. Nice clear water. The only downside was the t...

The only downside was the tide went out at 3pm. Otherwise highly recommended. Would definitely stay here again.
We booked the room online for one night. When we arrived at the reception at 5 PM, the guy at the desk told us that the rooms are all occupied. His excuse was that he didn't have WIFI that morning to check the bookings or close the bookings. My main problem was that he wasn't helpful at all. We booked the room online for one night. When we arrived at the reception at 5 PM, the guy at the desk told us that the rooms are all occupied. His excuse was that he didn't have WIFI that morning to check the bookings or close the bookings. My main problem was that he wasn't helpful at all. He just said he is full and we should go somewhere else. He didn't help with sorting out any other accommodation or tell us which direction we should go to find similar bungalows etc. That's all.
Just bungalows in the forest at the beach with a mattress inside, moskitonet and a bath - like on other islands 30 years ago. Its an adventure for people they like it. Nice island, nice and quite beach and a very ordinary place. Staff is helpful and the atmosphere is great especially around sun set.

Traveler impressions of Koh Phayam (Ranong)
easy to get from ranong. new mit tour is good company bus from bkk. to ranong. 9pm departure.ranong is a nice town.
the island beautiful.i enjoyed the sea and bush walks.
It is very nice island where is possible to drive only on motorbikes, no car, wide nature beaches, each of them looks different, canoeing in mongroves is possible, the sea is good for small children, good food, relaxing in nature, no crowded island
Only stayed there one night because flight was cancelled so we missed the boat to the island and had to go first thing in the morning.
So can't really comment.
this island is really good food, nice beach, nice environment, nice sunset. The best thing when you are here, you can relax and charge your energy.
It feels like the island is pretty developed (with it's restaurants, sport activities etc.) but on the other hand Phayam still can be considered as a civilisation' getaway.
The slow boat has only at 9 am and 2 pm, and take almost 2 hours for traveling while speed boat takes only 30 mn.
The island will be able to visit on November to May, aparts from that most resorts are closed. On holiday, it's better to book the room before arrive than walk-in. Travellers may walk around the island or rent the motorbike. No ATM on the island. Minimart and restaurants mostly closed after 10 pm
I only stayed one night in Ranong to catch the morning flight back to bkk, but the impression was great, would stay longer if i return.
Koh Phayam is very quiet and relaxing. It is one of the few Islands in Thailand where you can find quiet beaches.
The food here is more expensive than other Islands I have been to and I think this is due to electricity being run off resorts own generators. The main beach is good for surfing but the snorkeling around the Island is not as good as other Islands I have visited. This could be due to the time of year though as we seemed to catch the Island just at the beginning of rainy season as we had a couple of big storms. I would recommend hiring motorbikes for your stay on Koh Phayam as the roads are quite safe and the only other way to get around is by taxi bike which can end up being expensive if you want to go to different beaches. There are a few beach parties to go to in the evenings which are well advertised around the Island. Overall I would recommend Koh Phayam as a place to see quiet unspoiled beaches with very few tourists.
A very sleepy island with little to do. For beach and sun worshipers it's perfect, but only for 4 months of the year as it is on the Andaman side.
Don't worry, Koh Phayam is a safe place, despite being so close to Burma.
Kwang Pib Bay is a perfect place for Who's in love with Nature (Tropical Forest & Coral Reef). Koa Kwai Bay is a perfect place for Beach Lover, The Most chill out place.
The Most Amazing is Local People here, They are very kind and sincere.

More about Koh Phayam (Ranong)
Most visitors to Koh Phayam arrive by boat from Ranong, travel time depending on whether one chooses a slow boat for a more relaxed and leisurely cruise or a speedboat to get to the island hotel as quickly as possible. Whatever the case, once arriving in Koh Phayam travelers will find that there are many different choices for hotels and accommodations, ranging from simple home-style rooms to lavish beachfront resorts.
Ao Kha Kwai, more commonly known as Buffalo Bay, is one of the quieter beaches on the island and the perfect alternative to the much busier beaches of the Big Bay. At Phayam Harbor, take some time to explore the wildlife sanctuary which is home to many different species of birds as well as plants. This is a great destination that combines a little bit of eco-tourism along with the typical beach vacation.
