Great place to visit, lots of old/historical sites to see, mixture of modern shopping and relaxing areas.
I loveeeee Kyoto! Kyoto has impressed me so sooo much, this city has been one of my dream destination since The memory of Geisha movie.
I love the culture and how civilisation Kyoto is. Sadly, 2 nights in Kyoto was not enough, I would stay longer next time!
Kyoto is a fun city with a lot of attractions. It's easy to get around but I wouldn't recommend more than 3 days as there are a LOT of shrines and temples.
And honestly speaking it can get a bit boring.
it is such a cosy, cultural, accessible and friendly city! it sounds royal and big but really a perfect sized destination for a 4-5 nights stay!
Beautiful city, culturally magnificent, easy to get around, transportation excellent and very clean! Food is reasonably priced if you know where you to go to eat.
Supermarkets have very good food choices and if you go after 9 pm, every thing prepacked is half priced.
Kyoto has many well-preserved historic places of interest. It is the main place to see all things unique to Japan.
However it is also very touristy and can be pretty crowded during peak travel periods.
If you are a sporty type, just skip the crowded bus system entirely and rent a good bike! I've done Kyoto by bike 5 times now and as long as it ain't raining, bike is the WAY to go!
i cant think of any reason not going to kyoto in a lifetime. i visited to kyoto during the red leafs high season.
it was really good and awesome. would like to stay for more.
Kyoto has lots of culture and sightseeing places. Good variety of restaurants. Bus system is easy to use and to get around town.
Kyoto Train Station's tourist information center was very helpful and provided good helpful information.
my husband and i really enjoyed kyoto. alot to see, many temples, shrines. shopping is amazing. you never have to leave the kyoto station.
great area to stay in. we also visited Nara. Also wonderful!
The temples is beautiful & attractive. However, the season (begining Nov)I went the leaves still not turn to red color a bit disappoint.
We spent two nights and one whole day. We visited the Arashiyama bamboo forest, the Romantic Scenic Railway and Sanjusangen-do.
Plus the amazing railway station. I recommend the one day subway pass to get around.
Will come back again, wearing kimono leisure walk along the streets its really enjoy, recommended !!!
A combined bus and subway pass is a great way to get around Kyoto. There a a number of great temples, castles, etc for sightseeing.
People are very friendly and helpful
Kyoto is an ancient city that last for more than a thousand year, thus it has a lot of old, historical places, and also temples.
Kyoto was also Imperial capital of Japan, so you can visit the old palace. Good place for food, less recommended for shopping.
If you are a culture buff, this is the place for you. I love how they try to preserve their culture.
Kyoto is a must to see in Japan, plenty of amazing temples, spectacular gardens, very vibrant city. In my opinion the gloden Kinkakuji pavilion in northen part of the city is the best what tourist can see in Kyoto.
make sure to stop by at the shopping streets near Gion. there is a lot of fine quality tea shops along the area
There is so much to see in and around Kyoto. We stayed three days, but would definitely return and stay longer.
We loved Arashiyama, our ryokan Gion Hatanaka, Kinkakuji, Ryoan-ji Temple's dry rock garden, and walking in the Gion area. It was interesting to see the young women walking through the city in rented kimonos, having dinner with maiko (apprentice geiko, similar to geisha). There is still so much to see!
It's really nice to visit the different temples, the famous bridge, food is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend to go to Osaka too!
Kyoto is the quintessential "old Japan." Go and don't stay for less than two nights. For nightlife, people who don't want to go to Snack/Pub hostess bars or the few nightclubs near Kiyamachi go to Osaka instead, but everything is great here: history, culture, architecture, nature!
A big city with a lot of trains underground.. It is helpful to have some one who knows Japanese if you want to take trains or buses.
At train stations you can get an all day pass for about the price of 2 or 3 short trips. The nice thing about the pass is that you don't have to always buy another ticket each time you want to go on the train or bus. Many of the convenience stores sell coffee and small meal packages. Some even have indoor and /or outdoor seating
Love this small little town that is full of historical. If you love culture, this is a town for you.
Google map is very helpful, it will recommend you how to take a bus / MTR and the roads are not complicated to find.
Kyoto Imperial Palace, Sento Imperial Palace are highly recommended, but you need to book on line first. Temples are good to visit as well. All Japanese food is good to me.
We need some special information about Kyoto to enjoy eating and shopping. Ask them to a driver of Hotel coach! You might get a nice one.
Kyoto is very clean and safe. It is easy to get around. There is a lot to see and do especially if you are into culture and or religion.
Kyoto is a unique mix of heritage, culture and yet modern at the same time. Plenty of things to do, little alleys to wander around.
Very charming city
Kyoto gives us a glimpse of the traditional Japanese, the food, the numerous shrines and temples and even the old buildings.
Pace is quite fast due to a lot of tourists flocking the city but visiting the heritage sites was worth it. Take your time going around the Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle. Getting around is easy if you buy the day pass for the buses/trains. Navigating is a little difficult at first but there's a map at the bus station to guide you on what bus to take. Try the cuisine.
Amazing Kyoto. We visited Nijo Castle, Kinkakuji Temple, Silver Pavilion, Gion area. Very impressive.
Love to be here and wish to have a chance to visit again. A lot of location to visit. We stay here for 3 nights but seems that do not enough time to visit all.
