Traveling to Italy? Find Lucca hotels

We loved the Villa and will return when next we're in Lucca. The people that run the Villa were lovely; the room was great and as I stated above the caffe lattes with the morning breakfast were wonderful. They were very helpful with restuarant recommendations and pointing out things to see and do in and around Lucca. Good parking which is so important when traveling throughout Italy by car.

This place was one of THE cleanest places I've been to for a hotel or hostel in Italy. The location was not hard to get to and the owner was nice and explained everything well. We had the room that used to be a kitchen a hundred or so years ago, it was very rustic and we loved it! We were given slippers to walk the halls and go to the bathrooms, which was very nice. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we had plans in another town. The owner also replies immediately to messages, which again left us pleasantly surprised because none of the other places we stayed had been prompt.

Perfect place to stay in Lucca! It's a very easy and pretty 10 minute stroll into Lucca. Was hesitant to stay outside the wall but I am SO glad we did. As cool as the city is, the surrounding country side is gorgeous and this place let you see the best of both worlds. Also, it's only a 15/20 minute walk to the train station so you really don't need a car here if you don't mind a tiny walk. Breakfast is simple but nice and the coffee is awesome. Started everyday with the best cappuccino I've ever had. The pool was a nice escape from the insane heat this past week. The staff was so helpful with everything we needed. They had great restaurant recs and will make reservations for you if you like. Our room was the 'suite di Nonni'. Second floor with its own balcony. I'm sure all the rooms are nice but this balcony was so awesome. Get this room if you can. Perfect for ending the night with a bottle of wine from town and looking out over the property.

Lucca In Villa is in a good location just outside the city walls. We were greeted by the very personable and helpful proprietor, who let us store our luggage due to our early arrival. She answered our questions and also gave us a good map. After exploring the city, we returned to find our bags left in our room. The studio has an efficient and well-equipped kitchenette. The only downside is that the studio is located near the front desk and right across breakfast room - it can be noisy once everyone starts waking up, having breakfast, etc. That wouldn't stop us from staying again.

We had a bit of trouble locating the hotel at first, as it was quite hidden and had only a small sign outside a main door that leads to other apartments as well. As we had arrived after 7pm, the hotel staff already knocked off but left a note of instructions and room keys on the counter. Upon entering the room, we were pleasantly surprised by the decoration intended to remake an experience of medieval living. This included a quaint bath tub in the bedroom itself, bricked walls and ceiling, curtained bed etc. Room was also extremely spacious. Breakfast was served promptly according to our stated preferred time. Don't expect much from the breakfast though - only coffee and yoghurt were fresh but the rest such as breads were the packaged kind.

It was just a stop at Lucca for us, and as we were driving being just outside of the old town was convenient for us. The staff is super helpful and welcoming here. If you are coming via train and you got big suitcases the walk (and stairs) via the station may be a bit challenging. I would avoid if one is elderly. But if you are driving its a breeze - parking is easy too!

We booked the hotel for a week’s stay as a base to travel the area. It was a brilliant decision. On arrival they told us that they upgraded us to a better room at no charge. The room was spacious overlooking the back area (pool in a garden setting). The breakfast -buffet type- has plenty to choose from. The reception is always there to help you with questions, where to go what to do etc. The hotel is very conveniently located about 4km out of town, but on this side of town is a BIG free parking, just outside the town wall. You cannot drive into town anyway, so it is an ideal set-up. Attached to the hotel is an excellent restaurant. We ate there 6 of our 7 nights. It also incorporates a cooking school; unfortunately we had to miss out on that experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and can only recommend the place. We would happily go back there next time in Lucca.

We stayed for two nights whilst traveling around Northern Italy. Lovely place to stay if you want to visit Pisa too. Only took us 20 minutes to drive to Pisa & visit the leaning tower, so we arrived before all the tours and didn't have to queue. Hotel very clean with free car park & excellent free Wii Fi. Short 15 minute walk into Lucca which is very pretty, but we enjoyed borrowing the hotels free bikes & cycling into the town and around the walls.

There isn't a reception desk at this property but that wasn't a problem as Maria met us on arrival and took us to our room and checked us in. Despite breakfast not being provided, Maria did supply bottled water, orange juice and some little pastries which were replenished each day, which was a lovely touch. The room was lovely, a good size with a good sized bathroom and super air con - a must have in July! The bed was very comfortable and there was good storage space. The room is located in a residential block in a small square in the centre of Lucca, within easy walking distance of the main sights. Overall a great place to stay and we'd definitely stay there again if we return to Lucca.

Staffs were extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. Artist-looking he picked us up at the Lucca train station. When we found out our 3 suitcases were too big for the car rear space,he immediately put our third suitcase into his BMW! ( While we were worried if it may scratch his leather seat, he cared more about our comfort. He asked if we were okay sitting back there and said that it was just 5 mins' drive, would arrive soon. We were so touched.) Upon arriving, after helping drop off our suitcases, unfolded one map of Lucca, pointed out to us all the places worth visiting. She showed where the free-to-borrow bicycles were and how to use them. Also, she recommended several local restaurants they usually go eating. With the time constraint, we were able to try only two of them including GIGI for dinner and another one for breakfast. It turned out that they both serve really yummy local food with very good price. Lucca was so charming that we postponed our leaving time to 8:00 PM. The lovely couple drove us back to the train station with their two cars. They were really so nice! We hugged at the train station. Now back to the qualities of the villa, it is situated in a quiet neighborhood, less than 10 minutes' walk to the wall of Lucca's old town center. She would introduce the easier and faster back-way. Our suite included a spacious bedroom with comfy beds, a well-equipped modern kitchen and a big bathroom. We really wished to stay longer given everything was so perfect. We really enjoyed our stay there and would absolutely give full mark! Grazie!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is close to the entrance to the city of Lucca, and the owner is a charming young man who cannot do enough for you. He deserves to succeed in business. The rooms of the bed and breakfast are being renovated and the only problem I had was the bathroom was tiny. Guiseppe says he will be renovating these rooms at the end of the season. I had a problem with the lack of a lift but the staff were helpful in carrying my luggage upstairs. La Mimosa is close to the railway station, bars, fabulous food shops and to all the markets and spectacles going on in Lucca - a wonderful city.

Great location once you find it. No screens on windows and without a fan it can get stuffy. Was eaten alive by mosquitos. Garish room color and a bit noisy but with earplugs you can get by. The "breakfast" consists of a basket of tea or coffee pods but without a fridge for milk it was useless. There is no management on site, so no way to really complain. You must rely on yourself and other guests to lock doors at night and the locks are difficult. However Lucca seems really safe. Credit card machine didn't work, so had to pay cash. Have a feeling it's always that way.

The Hotel Palazzo Alexander is in a great position within the old town of Lucca one of my favourite places in Italy. As we had some spare time we decided to retrace our steps of 10 Years ago so we caught a Flix Bus to Lucca from Siena luckily we chose the right place to stay Mario and Gabriel his son looked after us beautifully,clean room,great breakfast and they help you in every way to make your stay a fabulous one. Thanks Mario for even looking after gluten free people like me. I will definitely stay again. KayeK
