Mallorca is a beautiful and clean city. A lot of attractions - all walking distance. But don't stay only in Palma, visit as well other beaches and the mountain range.
Take a train leaving from Palma.
Cala Major en trevlig strand med bra strandrestaurang. Passa på att besök Illetas, som ligger ngr km bort från Cala Major för lite lugnare strandliv.
Palma is an interesting City Supermarkets are hard to find often underground under the squares The Island is accessible from the main Bus/Train station with good cheap connections
We had a few days in Arenal by the coast. Easy to catch the bus to go into the Center of Palma to visit the Cathedral and old town, but we enjoyed most Puerto Pollenca.
PP is a nice a rather quite town.
I believe the highlight of our trip to Majorca would certainly be a journey to the Port of Soller. After a short bus trip to the train station we boarded a classic style, electric locomotive.
The open windows and vintage seats created a rustic atmosphere as we passed hurriedly through rural townships and long tunnels until we eventually arrived at Soller. We took advantage of a photo opportunity at Bunyola when the train stopped. On arrival in Soller, vendors offered fresh glasses of local orange juice before alighting the tram to the Port of Soller. Again, the scenic beauty of the area at this time of year provided a rejuvenation after arriving in this unique seaside hideaway. After disembarking from our tram, we ambled up the cobbled pathways to the look-out point viewing many haute-cuisine restaurants enroute with windows framed with geranium filled flower boxes. On turning back towards the port, wonderful views were afforded of the bay and mariner. The sandy white beach below us contrasted the mediterranean blue sea and provided the ideal opportunity for a relaxing swim. NB A visit to the cathedral in Soller would have proved worthwhile if we had had more time.
