Paradise Island Resort and Spa
North Male Atoll,Maldives Islands - View on map
"The resort is aptly named Paradise Island, as it is indeed a piece of heaven on earth. Maldives is a beautiful country and Paradise Island truly showcases it. We stayed in superior beach villas, which had direct access to the beach. The rooms were big, clean and well equipped. The bathroom had an outdoor shower and a bathtub indoors. The resort is about 1 km long and one can travel comfortably in the buggies which were always a call away. We had the full board package, so we ate in Bageecha restaurant for all our meals. The food spread was extravagant and catering to every cuisine and taste. The desserts were especially well made. We didn't do any water sports except the canoe which was free for the hotel guests, although prior booking is recommended. The badminton court was big and fun to play in. The Araamsu spa was huge and the massages really good. We fed the stingrays and sharks which my daughter enjoyed the most. A special mention to the staff - Nish, Geethika, and Hasdim at the Bageecha. The hospitality and attention to detail given to us, was exceptional. I can go on about the care and service we were given, but its best experienced yourself. The natural beauty of the resort combined the exceptional hospitality and amenities of Paradise Island, made our holiday a very memorable one. You cant go wrong with this one. Highly recommended. "

Meeru Island Resort & Spa
North Male Atoll,Maldives Islands - View on map
"Meeru Island considered one of the biggest Islands in Maldives. The Jetty entrance and reception area is flat and specious with scattered tall coconut trees within bigger area of surface, creating nice and joyful atmosphere and pleasant sea breeze under the shadow. The restaurants and bars are well decorated and maintained with nice and comfortable tables, sofas and cushions, floored with wet soft sands, high ceilings and the major sides are opened to circulate cool breeze. My booking was for “Water Villa”, Full Board, which has been upgraded to All Inclusive. The Water Villa in Meeru Island is unique in kind and does not exist within any other Resorts in Maldives. The Villa is exactly at the edge of sea water, where you get the feeling you are in both land and water at the same time. The Water Villa got two different level decks exists in the water, one of them got two relaxing seats and the second got two sun loungers in addition to two beach loungers beside the villa. During the high and low tides of water, the water reaches below the decks and allows the marine creatures to be roaming in front of the Water Villa. The best area for swimming and snorkeling in Meeru Island Resort is in front of the Water Villas area, where there is soft sand, clear water and exciting views. Being you are accommodated at Water Villas, this adds more enjoyment to your beach swimming and other activities. . The only short fall in the Resort which is available of most of Resorts in Maldives is not availability of extended decks of restaurants and bars over the water. My stay at Meeru Island Resort was fantastic and memorable and definitely I would recommend strongly to stay at “Water Villa” for real enjoyment and feeling as you are in paradise. "

Summer Villa Guest House at Maafushi
South Male Atoll,Maldives Islands - View on map
"SummaVilla guesthouse is a fantastic guesthouse on the local island of Maafushi (south of Male). Maafushi presents a local, authentic and affordable experience while in the beautiful island chain of the Maldives. The exceptionally friendly and helpful owners and staff of SummerVilla are locals on the island who have their family homes close to the guesthouse. We felt they genuinley cared about during our two week stay whilst exploring Maafushi and its surrounding islands. The service, food, cleanliness of rooms and attention to detail were outstanding for accommodation in this price range. We can highly recommend this guesthouse and will definitely be returning. Thankyou Nassim and family!"

Bandos Maldives
North Male Atoll,Maldives Islands - View on map
"Just returned from 9 days at this island resort. This is a very well run efficient resort. We did not have all inclusive as we prefer to eat in the other 4 restaurants. The staff here are delightful, very helpful and friendly. We did a few excursions, Manta ray snorkel where we saw lots of Mantas, another snorkel trip and the sunset dolphin cruise. Drinks are very expensive as they are on all the Maldive islands. The house reef is spectacular, lots of sea life including black tip reef sharks and sting rays and lots of colourful fish. The sea is turquoise warm and clear. Would definitely recommend."

Medhufaru Inn
South Male Atoll,Maldives Islands - View on map
"We had a nice stay here for 2 nights. We had some problems with our booking with Agoda but the manager took his time to figure out what went wrong and got in contact with Agoda. Very helpfull and nice! Because it was Valentine’s day, one of the employees made our bed with nice flower decorations. We did not ask for this, it was very nice and cute! The breakfast was simple but good and we love it that the accomodation has it’s own breakfast place/restaurant in front of the sea. They also arranged breakfast for us early in the morning because of the ferry we had to catch. The bed was nice, there was AC and a fan. The location is good, a small island so you’re close to everywhere. The only downside was that the bathroom smelled dirty sometimes, bit that is a problem we experienced almost everywhere throughout the Maldives. Big thanks and shoutout to the staff!"

Stingray Beach Inn at Maafushi
South Male Atoll,Maldives Islands - View on map
"We were trying to do the Maldives on a "budget" and this definitely gave us the best bang for our buck. Ibriham, filled us in beforehand on everything we might need to know, and he was continually there to answer all the questions we had about the islands, what to do, what to eat, etc. We arrived on a Thursday into Male airport and took a speed boat to Maafushi Island. You can take the public ferry, but the morning ferry was canceled and the next one wasn't until 3pm. It is only about $2 to take the ferry, but we didn't want to wait around all day, so we book the speedboat which was $200 divided by however many people went with you (it could seat up to 7). Definitely worth the money. We arrived to Maafushi, checked into Stingray Beach (with a nice refreshment waiting for us) and were on the beach before noon. Because this is one of the inhabited islands there is no alcohol, and when you're not on the "private beach" the you must be covered from your neck to your thighs (no bikinis). It's a small price to pay. The staff at Stingray Beach helped us book whatever excursions we wanted and they had a whole list of options. We did the sandbank one day, which was great. The snorkeling was amazing (we saw a sea turtle among other things) and we were set up with a cooler and a huge umbrella for shade. So fun. Ibriham also hooked us up with a dive shop near the hotel, so we were able to do 2 dives. Great service, again. The food at the hotel was out of this world. The menu was very extensive and everything we ate over the course of our stay was excellent. We were worried when we began the trip about how we were going to pay for things and how much money we needed to take out of the atm at the airport (because there are no atms on the islands) but we were able to charge everything to our room: food, drinks, excursions, dives, etc. and then we could pay with our card at the end of our trip. It was very convenient. "

Kaani Palm Beach at Maafushi
South Male Atoll,Maldives Islands - View on map
"Location wise this hotel is the best on Maafushi island and they have the best Infinity pool on the rooftop. Very professional staff, very clean and new building. They provide great and fun activities and excursions with very reasonable prices, special thanks for the Italian lady responsible for the excursions, doing activities with her were a great experience. The hotel manager Mr. Ibrahim is very professional and always around to check guests satisfaction, he makes you feel like you are staying at your home. Mr. Visham the housekeeping manager and his staff are doing a great in keeping the hotel always perfectly clean. I would like to note as well the outstanding service of Abdulkadir in serving the breakfast with a big smile each morning."

Summer Island Maldives
North Male Atoll,Maldives Islands - View on map
"My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights in the water villa, and Summer Island was incredibly accommodating. From the moment we arrived, to the last hours of our stay, it was pure relaxation! Highlights: all-inclusive water villa option is the best for your money in the Maldives! We didn't have to think about where to eat or how much it cost. And the menus were changed daily. The room itself was spacious and even better than the online photos! On top of that, every staff member on the island greeted you with a smile and provided excellent service. The one negative, is the Turtle snorkeling service was not up to Summer Island standard. The German instructor did not introduce himself and my boyfriend thew up during the boat ride which he ignored completely. The crew however, were very helpful and sympathetic. Lastly, this snorkeling trip was not free, as we had been lead to believe. Overall, thanks Summer Island for the vacation of a lifetime! We hope to return in the future!"

More about Maldives Islands

In the Indian Ocean, a thousand pieces of paradise are scattered about in a collection of islets known as the Maldives Islands. Only 200 of them are inhabited, leaving the rest in pristine, natural condition. Coral reefs, warm waters, and white sand accommodate enchanting marine life and set the mood for either a romantic getaway or family holiday.

Leisure and recreation are the highlights here with the abundance of diving and snorkeling opportunities. Ship wrecks can be explored at such sites as The Ship Yard and the Halaveli Wreck. The Aquarium is a dive site visited as a day trip and is excellent for exploring marine life. Coral, young fish, turtles, and even manta rays in the rainy season can all be seen here. Fish Head is natural and very much alive in terms of sea life thanks to strict regulations that disallow fishing, anchoring, or even the collecting of shells and coral.

Accommodation in the Maldives Islands can be accessed solely by domestic flights or by speed boat. With resorts spread throughout the archipelago, flights by seaplane can take up to 45 minutes from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. Be sure to check out the interactive map of Maldives Islands for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
