"Just a one night stay to see the fireworks and lighted boats at Matlock Bath. Great convenient location at the hotel as only a 5 minute walk to the event. Recommend asking for a room in the main building as we had a superior double in the garden annexe which was barely warm enough despite the radiator set on full .Room had large windows with great views of the outdoor swimming pool but these made it chilly when the sun dropped and the one ‘warm, not hot’ radiator was inadequate. Walking inside the hotel from our room to the main building the temperature was markedly warmer as you would really expect throughout. Did report this upon checkout so fingers crossed it’ll be acted upon. No guest information in the room and reception thought previous occupants had taken it as souvenirs, and although they couldn’t replace it they were very helpful in every way. Dined in the restaurant and choice reasonable and food good. Breakfast was a bit of a free for all and disappointing. Traditional full cooked breakfast not on the menu and the hot food was largely a range of eggs on toast. This and hot drinks were brought to the table but everything else you had to get yourself... given the ebb and flow of guests down for breakfast we found little left and had to keep getting up to see if stocks of pastries and juice had been replenished, and queue to do our own toast. However, all the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful throughout our stay so full marks there. "
