If you are looking for some place nicer that just a business hotel in Matsumoto station area, this hotel could be a good option for you. I like to find out the representative hotel in any area which is not for budget traveler but providing nice service and facilities and nice breakfast at fancy restaurant. The hotel was 5 minutes walk from the station which is comparab...

The hotel is located just a minute walk from the Matsumoto station. Matsumoto castle is also about 15-20 minute walk away. Times car Plus station is right next door. The staff were very polite and helpful. As we reached early and departed late, they offered to keep our luggage in safe custody. All questions were answered well. Some of the staff could speak good english...

This place is just right in front of Matsumoto station (across the road). It is convenient as there are many Izakays and food places around it. Toyota Car rental is also just right beside it, which makes car rental and return easy. The best part of this hotel is the breakfast cafe located on the 10th floor. It gives an almost 180 degree view of the mountains that surro...

The location is wonderful. The staff spoke enough English to be helpful. They were very friendly and polite. I love the onsen. The ambience and the peacefulness and the cleanliness was wonderful. Bathed there once we got there and then once again at night just before going to bed. According to the staff, Dormy is the only hotel in Matsumoto Central to have the natura...

Surprisingly most staff I encountered can speak English. Out of coverage for most networks but they do provide own Wi-Fi. Best location (5-minute walk to transit bus stop and in the middle of tracks)with best price (I got to use their promotion rate with dinner and breakfast). So-so food and pubic bath (it's not a hot spring ryokan anyway). Spacious room with view. Ab...

While not a new hotel and Matsumoto is a little way off the beaten track, we enjoyed our stay. Richmond hotel is a 10 minute walk to the train station, and 15 min walk to Matsumoto castle. Our room was spacious compared to others in Japan, clean, air conditioned, and functional, with western bath/shower all for a reasonable price per night. Washing/drying machines, mic...

Highly recommend Matsumoto Hotel Kagetsu! The decor is tasteful, very relaxing and elegant. Although it's a hotel with history, but all facilities are kept in very good condition. Location is perfect too. It's 3 mins walk to the castle, and 3mins to the old streets. The only down side is the chance to encounter group tourists.

We arrived around 6pm, it was already dark so a bit hard to find the hotel just by using google map. Hotel is not close to the train station, and words on google map are all in japanese so had quite a trouble finding it. However, when we arrived we were greeted by this lovely man at reception. He's quite old but very energetic and helpful. Very pleasant to deal with. H...

It is very rare to actually find a property that really IS "Exceptional". Amazing location - a lovely drive from Matsumoto. Outstanding rooms - absolute luxury - sensational french dinner - superbly attentive staff. An outstanding experience. Absolutely faultless. We will be back.

The hotel is 5 mins walk from the train station, quite but very close to the busiest town centre. Staffs are very attentive and polite. The room is not too big (but that's the norm in Japan), clean and very tidy. You can rent free bicycle directly from the hotel, and get half price tickets to the main attraction Matsumoto Castle (you need to ask the staff) Fir the p...

While its not the closest hotel to Matsumoto Station it certainly is one of the best value hotels in the area. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was also included upon my booking at no extra charge. Its about a 10 min walk from Matsumoto Station. Overall I would stay here if I was in the area. (+) Great French cuisines for dinner. Fantastic view outside the room's window. Comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Good hot spring bathing facilities. (-) Walking from the nearest bus stop (K29 Teikoku Hotel) takes about 10 minutes across the river, which I think is quite far. There are no other choices to reach the hotel such as hotel's shuttle, or taxi nearby.

There is nothing bad we can say about Hotel New Station's staff. Even though we changed our plans and inquiry three times (and even I have to admit some of them sounded kinda complicated), they always stayed not only polite but very friendly. Our inquiries were via email and the hotel's responder was very proficient in English (something that can not be taken for grant...

We only stayed at the Shirafune Grand for one night, taking the hotel shuttle up from Matsumoto station in early afternoon then back again the next morning. The drive up through the mountains is spectacular. To be honest we were a little concerned that the hotel would be too grand and corporate for us, but the staff were so friendly and caring that it didn’t feel like ...

Their onsen was clean, natural and high quality, room was clean ( I would suggest an aircon on summer days would be nice), great location and closer to restaurants, the amenities are superb , and the staff was very accommodating and helpful plus bonus is you can take home some natural hotspring with the pet bottles provided for FREE. We will definitely come back!

It was a good hotel! The breakfast was excellent. The rooms not so much. The staff were really caring about us but the rooms where other story. The room where we stay smelled like humidity. A lot. And the pijamas they offered smelled too. We couldn’t use the air conditioner so we slept with windows a little open because it was too hot . The windows were a little open ...

We only had the pleasure of staying in Matsumoto for one night during our trip to Japan. I was so happy with our decision to stay at tabi shiro guesthouse during our stop. I would highly recommend. Keiryuso Shiorie is the first Japanese Spring Ryokan we have tried and it really impressed us a lot. We spent 3 nights there and they prepared different dishes which were all very d...

Very very close to rail station, rooms have good amount of space (table and chairs in room) nice comfy beds and cute little bathtub/shower. Ice machine and laundry in hotel. Staff helpful. American bfast not to my liking but other options nearby.

My stay with Matsumoto Back Packers was for just one night, it's short and sweet. Just 5-min away from the train station and bus terminal connecting to major cities around. The hostel itself provides every basic thing you'd need, while the hosts were so friendly and helpful to provide you with travelling tips. P.S. first time to stay with a hostel with futon/ in tatami...

GH Shima Shima is located <5 mins walk from ShinShimaShima Stn from the Dentetsu Kamikochi Line, which is ~30mins travel time from Matsumoto Stn, frequency 40mins - 1hr. It is a great option for exploring Kamikochi and Norikura Highlands early in the morning as buses going there depart from ShinShimaShima Stn. I booked the female dorm (tatami-style), but was the only ...

Hotel is located in a quiet part of Matsumoto, yet near to the JR station. It's an easy 6 mins walk, even if you have trolley luggages. Hotel staff are helpful, even with the limited English. Room space is considered good for Japanese standards. I will stay in this hotel when I visit Matsumoto again.

Super Hotel Matsumoto is one of the best hotel we love in this trip. The location is only 5 mins walk from JR Matsumoto station. I like this hotel because of the location, near to the JR Matsumoto station. Easy for us to move around by train. Also you can go to Matsumoto castle with walking distance. The room was spacious and the bed was super comfy! Best of all, we had an awesome massage chair in the room! We loved our time in Azumino at the Ryokan Nishiya Besso. The owner was extremely attentive and thoughtful; his English was good. Real reviews for hotels
The main attraction is of course the castle, but all around the town along small streets, you can find shops selling all sorts of interesting things.
It's a very quiet and laidback kind of a city. The pace of life is slower and you can really enjoy your surroundings.
Hard to get to, Matsumoto is a nice reward after a long journey. I recommend the castle, as it's certainly unique amongst the many dotted over the Japanese scenery.
on Sunday the main street closes to vehicles. many people go out and there are street shows. we saw a drums performance played by girls, and a singer.
As a base, Masooto is great. Kamikocki is a great place at the foot of the a Ps. You can walk along swift flowing streams, looking at the mt Hokato range towering above, or be ore adventurous and tackle some of the mountain trails.
It is a nice and quiet place for relaxation and enjoyment of good food. The Matsumoto Castle is the main attraction of the place.
Apart from the great Matsumoto castle, matsumoto is also close to many Nature attractions, and trekking tracks, such as Kamikochi, Shrahone onsen and Japan Alpine route, you can use Matsumoto as a base to arrange one day trip to explore those areas.
