More about Melbourne

Melbourne is Australia’s second largest city and is considered to be the cultural capital. Accommodation in the city ranges from basic hotels to 5-star luxury properties. Visitors can opt for stays near Melbourne International Airport with shuttle buses and cabs providing access to the city. From Melbourne Airport, it is a 30-minute drive to the city center.

Melbourne is a city with a cool climate, wide avenues, and Victorian architecture. Suburbs such as St. Kilda, Prahran, and Carlton are well connected to the city center by an inexpensive and efficient tram service. The Abbotsford Convent makes for an excellent stop for those interested in arts, culture, and learning. Etihad Stadium and Her Majesty’s Theatre are excellent venues for major sporting events and musicals.

Visitors are bound to find themselves checking out, if not at least passing through, Flinders Street Station, the railway station that serves the entire metropolitan rail network. Queen Victoria Market and Bourke Street Mall both serve the shoppers with everything from local produce to cosmetics and clothing.

Nightlife is in abundance with dance clubs and hip bars dotting the city. The Docklands, Southbank, and the Crown Casino also offer guests fine dining, gambling, or people-watching.
