People may be nice, still need to be careful at night. So many clubs and bars, may be many drunk people too, right
I didn't stay here too long but I loved the beaches and the art deco style of Miami cafes and streets.
Only thing I would say...is please people!!!! Make sure you are tracking your journey whilst in a cab as they will try to drive slow or take detours, some not all about 1 in 2.
It all depends on what you enjoy, but if it involves being outside in the sun or being entertained then Miami (especially South Beach) has plenty to offer.
I don't know all of Miami, mostly South Beach. if you like the feel of a little village within a big city, then this is it! beach, hot weather, physical activities all at your doorstep.
I was told it is a devil city with lots of crime. Everyone has his gun in pocket. I feel it is not that horrible, but dare not to go out alone.
We have joined a city tour, it seems ok at the day time.
Typical American city. Downtown looks nice from far away but is not attractive during nights. I recommend the Everglades national park, which is a 40 minute drive away from downtown.
nice place for shoppers almost everywhere Spanish people its like you arrived in a Spanish Country very nice
Summer along the year is the perfect word to describe Miami. We came on winter season after christmas but the weather is warm enough in the morning and humid in the evening.
No wonder people come to Miami in winter to spend their holiday. Perfect to have hot & sunny day here!
South Beach is a must see for its beach and art deco buildings. Bayfront Park at Downtown Miami is good for a stroll and buying souvenirs.
Take a cruise from Port of Miami to islands in the Caribbean.
Miami has a strong latin culture, it is ease to move around without speaking english, but spanish. It is perfect for outdoor activities, shopping, arts and sightseeing.
Miami is special. Not really part of the US as such ... you can live in Miami without actually speaking a word of English! Wow! Definitely has it's charm .
.. visit 'Calle 8' ... the South Beach District, Downtown and Miami Beach ... Rent a car and simply drive from South Beach up North along the Beach ... you'll have a great time. Don't forget to visit the Aventura Mall.
Miami is a good place to visit for vacation. There are many people who enjoy and relax themselves from their work on the beaches.
South beach is very famous all over the world because of the movie or american drama like CSI. It was worth paying a visit.
Miami won me over with my first visit there, with its weather, diverse tourist and cultural attractions, Art Deco architecture of Miami Beach, and its great beaches.
Everything was readily accessible via its great bus system. The tour available from the Art Deco Welcome Center on Ocean Drive was well worth it (and they have a great gift shop next door) as it showed things one would never have known and seen. The Holocaust Memorial was very moving and the New World Symphony building by Geary and park is of interest as well. In Miami itself we visited Freedom Tower and saw a wonderful art exhibit, the American Airlines Arena, and Bayside Mall area where you could shop, eat, take a boat ride, visit an old sailing ship, and more.
Great city. First trip there as we were meant to be spending a lot of time in NYC but due to Sandy we had to change our plans.
Glad we got to experience Miami as we only planned 2 days which would not have been enought. I will definately go back.
Miami and to a greater extent, Florida, does not really cater to tourists who do not drive. Attractions are far apart and in certain parts of Miami and Fort Lauderdale there are no restaurants or cafe within walking distance.
Public transport such as buses and trains are difficult to understand and appears to be haphazard. We were stranded 3 times in Fort Lauderdale - even taxis were hard to come by! Compared to LA, Las Vegas,San Franciisco, San Diego and New Orleans, Miami was tough getting around. People there too appeared to be less friendly and helpful.
The beaches are long and pretty clean. Lots of people using them in summer. Water is very warm on surface.
South Beach area while interesting really puts the screws to the tourists on prices - even in the small convenience stores it seems every drink is $4 for small size (even water) so shop outside this area and bring your drinks with you. Cafes and bars are well set-up and have great atmosphere. Stay away from poorer areas - rest is fine. Spanish is more widely spoken than English these days.
The place has a very much mixed ethnics and everyone can easily felt blended in. Dispite the superb night life that the city offers, it is a rather safe city.
South of the city is tend to be of a lower leveled area, try to steer away from it if you can. Costal views are brilliant and I believe most people can stay there all year round and not getting bored. Shopping malls are rather far away at the west of the town, Dolphin Mall (Almost a must go for all tourists) and International Mall (not as popular and hosts less brands but it is less crowded) should satisfy most of you bargain hunters need. Business / Industrial area is on the NW of the city, and if you are on a biz tour, make sure you rent a car at the airport. Reserve on the web and collect there the next day to get the best price.
We visited Miami in July, and it was terrible hot (104 F). The city is nice. If you want to drive out to the city, use Turnbike road, as the rest are having constant traffic jams.
All year long enjoy beaches, nightlife, restaurants, and many more. Miami is a place where you would want to satay forever.
