Mount Dandenong Ranges hotels & places to stay

We had a really lovely time here. We stayed for two nights from Sunday to Tuesday at the end of July. There is lots of firewood to keep the in-room fireplace going all night, as well as electric heaters for when we got lazy and couldn't be bothered to start a fire. There is free to air tv only but with DVDs available to borrow. A low tech stay, but who cares when you're staying in the picturesque little village of Olinda!

Was a good overnighter and location great. Bathroom downstairs from bedroom :( Parking roadside only and steps down to room were treacherous and uneven especially carrying luggage! It's all self serve which is great for privacy but if it's 5 star your after its a 4 at best. Dated bathroom although ok, lounge overdone with furniture and corner spa..... Steep staircase to bedroom. All in all a lovely cottage which is close to the Pig and Whistle Tavern that serves fantastix food. It is secluded so take any food or drink you may need although their mini bar has a little of everything:)

On arrival we weren't sure how to access the property. Tudor Cottages send out an email to those staying at the accommodation with instructions but it was in my junk mail and I didn't think to check there. We spent an hour trying to find out who to contact and eventually got in after recovering the information that I didn't know we needed. Inside it was very cold. The split system A/C in the bedroom works well to heat up that room but the rest of the cottage with stone floors would not heat up even with the small heater in the kitchen/dining area. It is a small basic cottage. You get what you pay for. I would only spend minimal time here and instead spend my days exploring the gorgeous Dandenong Ranges.

We stayed for 2 nights on a Friday and Saturday. Holly Lodge is set in lush bush land high up on a mountain. We wanted to relax and do very little. It was the perfect place for that. We had the Honeymoon Suite which was upstairs and very lovely and comfortable. Everything is very close by car, a restaurant nearby, plus Sassafras, Olinda etc which offer more shops and things to do. The only down draw was the very winding unmade dirt road called The Old Coach Road that we took for the last couple of kilometres to get there. You can avoid it but we didn't know that.

We love visiting the Dandenong's and this cottage is one of the best. Very spacious for our family including kids (ages 6-11). Great spa. So many details and inclusions thought of. Gardens are amazing, so good you could spend a weekend here and not need to see anything else in Olinda or surrounds! Did not love the nearby Oriental Tea House for dinner, but did enjoy the Cloudhill Seasons Cafe for lunch. Thank you for a lovely stay.

This was a very nice modern 3 story lodge. It had a great view of the forest straight out of the bedroom doors. The central heating and wood log fire was very nice and cozy for winter. The in room spa was HUGE and very comfortable! This will not dissapoint very cozy. Some traffic noise from the main road near by, but that is hardy a worry. Close to Olinda shops and restaraunt. Short drive to the lookouts and some amazing sunset views. The owner was very accomodating. Check in procedure was a little strange as Agoda didn't provide any instructions as there is no-one on site.

Had thought we'd booked a cottage, but found when we arrived that it was a self-contained spa suite under the main house. Think this is an issue with the picture shown on the Agoda booking page actually. Once over the initial disappointment, we appreciated the size & style of the suite & all the thoughful little touches. The french owners are lovely & gave us a recommendation for a wonderful french restaurant in Belgrave. The only down side to the suite is that we were disturbed by people walking around on the floor boards above. Loved the place, but will be more careful about the booking selection next time.

Our cottage was neat and tidy and had loads of character. Less than 200 metres from the top of Mt Dandenong it was a great location. The cottage was very well laid out and provided the relaxing location we were looking for. The food provided for breakfast was excellent and plenty of it. A negative aspect is that the cottages are not sound proof. There was a cottage above us where you could hear everything - walking around like a herd of elephants, going to the toilet, flushing the toilet and other noises. This detracted from a lovely location and cosy 80 year old cottage.

Beautiful and homely cottages. Only within an hour from the city but once winding through the ranges we felt a world away. Private and romantic getaway in the charming town of Olinda. We took advantage of the mid-week rates and ended up staying an extra 2-nights. The cottage was well heated and the large spa bath was certainly a feature. Kathy and Wally, the owners, made us feel at home and left breakfast at the door each morning. Kangaroos and dear roaming the bush line. The cheaper option for the region, but we were not sure what it was exactly we were supposedly missing. Would we stay again? Absolutely.

Rod the owner was very friendly and greeted us on arrival, be aware that when booking with Agoda that you pay upfront with rod and the booking is just for security. The inside of the house is so beautiful and he provides tea/coffee and an almost fully stocked breakfast buffé for you to cook at your own leasure. Rooms are located With two communal lounges, a kitchen and outside deck so be aware of other guests but rooms are perfect, airconditioned and lockable with plenty of room.

Lotus Lodges was a very clean and lovely accommodation. Due to Agoda/Booking.com on which i booked the accommodation under i was mislead to believe there was a fire place in my room on which i have photos on my booking including a larger spa. I questioned this with both businesses and i believe the booking company is at fault. I highly suggest that if you do book for this accommodation that you ask for photos of what you booked to ensure your paying for is what you expected. Was extremely disappointed with booking company. When speaking to Agoda they told me they called Lotus Lodge and apparently they were told the rooms are all the same. They are not all the same

At first, I was surprised when tried to set my destination to the Montrose Barn House in Google map as it's shown on the map as a tourist attraction. When I arrived, I realized why, because the barn house is just located at the back of Hahndorf's fine chocolates. When we got the key and entered the house, WOW, is what I felt...the house is so beautiful. It's a two-storey house with polished wooden floor on the ground floor, also there's a remote controlled wood burning fireplace which there're two armchairs in front and that adds some cozy atmosphere to the house. Two large couches which are very comfortable and can really be used as a bed to sleep during the night. The kitchenette is neat and clean, you can find any kitchenware you need there, more than enough for a short period of stay. Moreover, there're complimentary chocolates which's worth $7.95 , not to mention, full continental breakfast provided. Don't forget to open up the chocolate box to discover a free drink voucher.
