Where to stay in Muang Khong
Muang Khong hotels & accommodations

We ended up staying 5 days, as the place was so relaxing and enjoyable. The staff were lovely and very service oriented. We did stay in the floating house rooms which were on the river which gave us a lovely and relaxed outlook, however I know the other rooms are excellent as well. One of the places where I have had the best service in Lao.

Had a great time at Little Eden. It is perfectly located if you are staying in Don Det as it is by the jetty, yet it is a little aside from the main street, making it very private. It was so pleasant to have breakfast over the Mekong, watching the boats going with their everyday life. The breakfast was buffet style and the best I had during my travel in Laos and Cambod...

Don Khon is a laid back island where we extended our stay to while away even more nights. We moved to this hotel because it had air conditioning and good wifi (for Laos). While significantly more expensive than our previous accomodation the free breakfast and feeling of security offset the difference considerably. The owner and team here are friendly and helpful. The m...

We stayed four nights at the Pan's Bungalow and had a really pleasant stay. Our bungalow was clean, well-furnished and air-conditioning was working perfectly. Mosquitoes net was impeccable and bed very comfortable. The strong point of this place was the balcony/terrace where we chilled in our hammock and long-chairs overlooking the Mekong river. It is a really a pea...

We stayed for two nights in this lovely hotel. The owner has very good english and is very happy to help. It was great value for money and the pool was an added bonus. This is a very quiet and peaceful island which suited us but if you are looking for any hustle and bustle or bars etc then it isn't the island for you. Also if you are getting the bus from Pakse then I w...

We count ourselves lucky to have chosen this hotel on Don Khong. Our bus ticket from Pakse included a boat across to the island and it was a very easy walk to this hotel. Mr. Phet meet us warmly and gave a cool drink as we signed in before showing us our room which was very comfortable. He also showed us how to find the swimming pool which is at the neighboring hote...

The owner, a sweet and strong woman, booked for us a kayaking tour of the island. The best and ecologic way to see as much as you can in one day. I want to suggest this experience with green paradise because you can enjoy with Laos guides very true people

This place isn't bad at all. It was clean and did it's job. What I disliked: My biggest problem was the wifi for the 3 days I was there it was almost nonexistent. I had to leave my room to get it to work, and I complained they said they knew and had put in a call to fix it. However after my complaint it was working perfectly and if they knew the wifi was down they s...

We stayed here for four nights, and could easily have stayed longer. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, with great river views from the verandah. The food was fantastic. Authentic Laos food. The best we had on our trip, with great flavours. Not made bland to suit 'Western' tastes. The steamed fish in banana leaves is to die for. The service is professional a...

One of the best accommodation on the island based on us having explored the entire island on bicycle. Very spacious and clean room fully equipped with working air con and shower facilities. Excellent view of the Mekong river and a good spot to watch sunset. The down stairs Pan's resturant serves good food and they also have one of the better condition island on the isl...

I have been traveling around Asia for business and pleasure for just over 40 years. One of the places I always wanted to see was the 4000 Islands region of Laos, just north of the border with Cambodia. For one reason or another I never got around to it until a few days ago., when I left Siem Reap, Cambodia on a new adventure to Dom Det, Laos. Arriving here yesterday, I...

We arrived at the guesthouse before 12:00 pm and got our three rooms right away. All rooms had A/C, one no TV. The rooms were spacious enough, the bathrooms clean, hot shower working. Good value for the price in that location, just 100 meters from where you arrive by boat from the left bank of the Mekong River. Included breakfast was quite good with several choices and...

The owner, Pon, was very nice and helpful. Also the staff. The restaurant was also on the Mekong so our view for breakfast and sunset drinks were breathtaking. The hotel even has a small pool with the view of the Mekong. We were able to order special Lao dishes that was on the menu ahead of time and the food was delicious. The only thing we didn't like was the...

Great place with just two basic rooms in a bungalow directly at the Mekong. There are hammocks and matresses in the garden to relax and enjoy the view. The boat trip with Mike was fantastic! He shows you the real 4000 islands and has much knowledge about the region to share with you. We can also recommend the food in the restaurant which is cooked by his wife Tip, wh...

We had an excellent stay at this guesthouse, it has a lovely veranda at the back with tables and chairs which over looks the Mekong, the room was spotless. The staff are very helpful, the lady who runs the guest house even gave us a lift when we had a mis-understanding about the meeting place for a boat trip. There is a lady who I think is the mother of the owner who ...

Overall a good place to stay on Don Khon. Very spacious bungalow that had two beds and even a dressing table. Definitely more luxurious than your basic super cheap bungalows. Only major downside is that it's not on the river and doesn't have hammocks. But then it'd be far more expensive. Overall Don Khone is pricier than Don Det and I feel like the southern part of Don...

I spent three nights at this guesthouse. There are cobwebs in the corners of the room, the bed sheet is too small for the bed and the housekeeping did a poor job. My trash was never taken out of the room during my stay. I had to complain to get the free water that comes with the room. The location is away from any town and the bike I rented had no working brakes. Th...

A nicely positioned guesthouse/hotel on the edge of the river. Fan rooms are USD 13 per night but without a view. A/C rooms are USD 18 per night and have a view over the river. Large, spacious rooms. Hot water showers, free WIFI, but no breakfasts. Good value and great sunsets over the river.

The view from the bungalows is great, the staff are really nice, wifi is fantastic! :-) the room is comfortable and the location is really good ... they also arrange transfer to other islands, Pakse, ... there are many places with great food really close and renting bikes just next door for great price.

The location itself is really beautiful, so it is worth paying for the better rooms in the treehouse. Because if you pay less, the other rooms you get are kind of dirty and not really a place where you want to spend a night. Besides that the people there are really friendly even though it's hard to catch them because they never seem to be around.

This is a quiet hotel with very good views. It is remote so not close to other restaurants or entertainment. Their own restaurant was right on the river bank with good staff although the language was sometimes a problem. No problem with the food though, which was very good.

Easy to find-a straight 2min walk down from the boat drop off. Staff limited understanding re pre booking. English isn't great and Didnt approach us when we arrived. Just left us standing until we approached her. Room was fine although the windows leaked down through the floor tiles during a monsoon as my friends bag was wet the next morning. Geckos in the room Didnt b...

We stayed 5 nights but the hotel is really meant for 1 night. It is pretty basic, no soap or shampoo. Our room needed a paint job, shoe print on the wall and a range of other stains and drippings that need to be covered. The bathroom had the most problems, the shower is between the sink and toilet and the drain by the toilet is a too high so when done showering, th...

We loved our stay at Moon by Night, so much so that we extended our trip. The rooms are new, spacious and offer A/C and a comfortable bed (plus free water refills!). Darren, an Aussie that's been in Laos for 15+ years, is a wealth of information about the island/the country and an incredible host. Highly recommend a visit!

You pay so much for the air con. Room is ok but the floorboards are shared with next door so when they walk you can feel it! We were unfortunate to have noisy neighbours and we could hear everything. Staff didn't really interact with us but we're pleasant enough. Would stay here again because air con is needed during such hot months!

arrived there, gave the owner my voucher, he then denied having ever heard of agoda, so he went to check emails, at the end of my stay on the islands I was accosted by a few locals demanding payment for the room. which I duly paid again as I really didn't want to see what might happen if I didn't..... when I contacted agoda the owner had told them what he had charged...

The guesthouse has lovely views across the Mekong to Cambodia with stunning sunsets. The rooms were large and open plan with a separate sitting room. clean an new room with a nice view. There was always no guy at the reception. You can try to find him on the soccer place outside the city :) The Agoda price is to high for this Hotel and I don't want to know the original price when you book directly at the property.

The hotel has 8 rooms in front of the Mekong, nice view, large and full of natural light! The room are clean and the staff is charming. There is a quite unique pool for this island where we went every to relax and swim with a good cocktail. The place looks better than on the hotel web site! 35$ per day for a room on the riverside a good deal, we recommend.

The so called owner " Matthew. " and his Lao wife were as miserable as could be. Matthew had this Perpetual glazed look and red eyes entirely the time I stay there.
