Mukdaharn is border to Savannakhet Laos. This place is good to stay 1 or 2 night and you also can across the river Khong to visit Laos.
very friendly clean city many good food /shopping places fantastic viewing good hotel guest houses in and around Mukdahan
Mukdahan is a popular city on the Mekhong River facing Laos. Most foreigners use Mukdahan as a border crossing to Savannakhet Laos.
This is usually to obtain a visa from the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet, a visa to re-enter Thailand. Both are lazy river towns, not a lot going on. I spent time in the area 40 years ago and there were just huts/homes along the river, today the infrastructure has developed and they are waiting for you. I live about 3 hours from Mukdahan buy bus, from Kalasin (Isaan) Thailand.
The area is green and can be hot but there are various temples and sight seeing areas of interest in this region.
Mukdahan impressed me with its general cleanliness and the friendly demeanour of the local population.
It must be added that I do speak Thai so this will have a different perspective from many travellers.
It is only a quite boder city. It is very cloae to 2nd Lao-Thai Friendship bridge, which connect to Savannakhet in Laos.
A mixture of relatively old and modern. Nestled in low hills fronting the Mekong. Mukdahan is a friendly and peaceful city which has some nice international touches if you dig them out.
Vietnamese, Thai , and Lao food is fairly common, and of course the malls have the western stuff. Lot's of interesting local shopping in various places, but the international market is the big draw. Mukdahan is near the bridge that goes to Laos, and there is some fine, golfing, gambling and night life just over the bridge.
A small and quiet city on the banks of the Mekhong River. The riverside market offers goods from neighbouring countries, especially China.
A good base from which to explore the area, and the bridge allows for the crossing into neighbouring Laos.
Very big and diverse night market considering Mukdahan is not that big. This time, when you see a table full of bugs for sale (to eat!) its not just for the tourists to gawk at because there aren't that many westerners here.
If your passing through, the night market alone will fill up an evening nicely.
Mukdahan is a growing market town on the border with Laos. Situated on the Mekong River it has a key bridge across to Savannakhet in Laos with onward bus connections to Cities in Laos and Vietnam.
It is a quiet town with little night life, apart from a medium sized night market. Supermarkets such as Makro, Tescos, Big C are now present in the town also. The bus station is on the edge of town, and serves Bangkok and many major cities, as well as the semi-hourly bus across the friendship bridge.
Mukdahan has lots of shopping at the Indochinese market and restaurants that serve good local food. A trip to the Mukdahan Tower is interesting.
Is small province which is the gate open to Indochina to connect to Laos,Vietnam and China, not many tourism but might be good for anybody who like to have advandture.
Mukdahan is a great little city to spend a few days just wandering around and getting lost. The Mekong river is never too far away
For mine this is one of the best areas of Thailand. Transport (Air and bus)is good and easily accessible for trips everywhere both internally and to go to other places and regions.
Easy access to a day or 2 day trip into Laos. Mukdahan has good market shopping, good food, good coffee and some nightlife. Its safe, its clean and its more like the old and real Thailand.
Mukdahan city : Calm, simple,beautiful,convenience,good food,shopping...Mukdahan Taxi Center 042-613 666
Lovely small town on the banks of the Mekong River and well worth visiting for it's famous Indo-Chinese markets which are situated along the river promenade and also a level below the street level! fabulous night food market.
Nightlife is very quiet! But Mukdahan is well worth a 3-5 day stop-over if you are crossing over to Savannakhet in Laos. The people of mukdahan are very friendly and helpful if you need assistance!I love this town.
Mukdhahan is big province with a lot of histories. There is a few tourist attractions and our kids have fun, like Mukdhahan Tower.
We enjoyed food at a few restaurants in Mukdhahan, walk around at IndoChina markets.
Used probably mostly as transit to Laos for Visa travelers from Thailand and of course Thai gamblers going to the Casino in Laos.
Small city by the Mekhong river for crossing over to Savannakhet in Laos. Small city with the biggest shopping place being a Big C - little night bazaar to stroll around near Ploy Palace Hotel. Bus terminal with connections to Bangkok, Khon Kaen, Ubon Rachathani and other North-Eastern destinations.
The town is very provincial, but that makes the people here more friendly and easy going. The language can be difficult sometimes, but with my Thai wife have no issues myself.
Everyone at the hotel was outstanding, from the maids, dinning room staff and the general manager. Enjoyed our stay immensely.
nice sightseeing, beautiful green rice fields in june and great to see people harvesting by hand in november, very traditional, also some nice stuppas to visit worth it
Mukdahan is fast becoming a cultural and artists town. It is known for being the gateway to laos in the east and for the indo China market.
If you have time to explore you will see an art culture starting to emerge, especially with a Vietnamese influence. There are 3 great coffee, art, chic culture cafes all in close proximately to the Mekong near the indo China market..but you must look for them.I look forward to seeing this development in mukdahan
The city of Mukdahan is very quite and the people are very friendly. Situtated along the Kok river is a good opportunity to see the rive and the border of Laos.
Their are many shops to see and visit along the river and take advantage of the competions of the boat racing at the end of October between Laos and Mukdahan.
It is a small Thai Issan city which is near to the Friendship bridge to Laos, it has nothing to demand a visit to the city.
Small town not a really interesting place for casual visitors but the Friendship bridge to Loas is there and it is nice to see the Mekong river when it is in full flow.
