An open friendly place full of helpful local people to direct you to Napier's attractions. I wound up tracing members of my family tree, thanks to members of staff at the City Council offices and the Napier Library
This is a vibrant city and retains a feeling of safe and secure for visitors. The pace in the CBD is slower than elsewhere and that is something special and it encourages one to relax and enjoy.
I really enjoyed visiting and staying in Napier, it was nice and sunny with a great vibe. I enjoyed sigh seeing and loved all of the artdeco around the place with lovely gardens :-)
Winery tours are a must (push bike one is fun) Art Deco tour Shopping is beautiful different shops Eat at vineyards and defiantly try MarterD, food is amazing!
Unique NZ art deco town, not a copy of the European style but rather a local variant. The steep walk to the look out is a bit of a let down though.
Excellent organic cafe recently opened. The wine centre is elegant. Art deco Week in February sounds fun.
Having lived in the city many years ago, I enjoy returning to see how the place has developed in all areas - its a joy to come back to Napier
We were on a trip of New Zealand from north of Auckland to Queenstown in the south. Napier was definitely one of the best places of the trip.
The atmosphere in Napier is very relaxed. The people are extremely friendly and have all the time in the world. The climate there appears to be a little milder and better than other parts of New Zealand, which explains the wineries in the region. Beautiful wineries line the area, and doing wine tasting there is fantastic. Food wise Napier is on par with Auckland, and the city offers many art deco gems having escaped the destruction by earthquakes that have struck other Kiwi towns and cities. We would definitely suggest staying 3 or 4 days in this quaint town and enjoying life.
Unfortunately we arrived in very bad weather. Wind and rain. However managed to walk around city to view the art deco buildings.
Enjoyed a lovely meal Trattoria alla Toscana. Would recommend.
Visit the vineyards of Napier & surrounding area as the wines are a fruity alternative to some of your usual oaky & crisp whites.
Lots to see & do in a picture perfect location !!
Well, only reason to stay at NAPIER is mainly because of the vineyard around the vicinity. Other than that nothing much to do
If you're the type of person who enjoys architecture or relaxing by the water. This is a great town to visit.
People were very friendly had a great time. Loved the food and had lots of shops .. loved the shopping.
Napier is a charming Art Deco themed city in the Hawkes Bay region of the North Island of New Zealand.
In the day time, a stroll down the main street will give you many options for relaxed indoor or outdoor cafe dining with food ranging from Bakery fair to Sushi, and Indian and Chinese to All-day breakfasts. The ocean front is beautiful with a huge stretch of beach and a nice esplanade to walk with beautiful green parks and even a skate park.
