Where to stay in Newcastle
Newcastle hotels & accommodations

I always stay here when in Newcastle for business. the location suits me, if you need to travel north, east, south or western suburbs it is very easy to access from this location. The rooms are large There is a large car park that is safe and having on site managers they keep an eye on things as well. The managers are great, very friendly and know Newcastle well so if ...

Great place to stay, the staff were friendly and very helpful. Our booking had not been recieved and although they were extremly busy this was not a problem for the staff especially the young gentleman on the desk he just organised an apartment and advised he would sort out the rest. Our apartment was very clean and comfortable, just perfect for what we wanted and cl...

I had a best 3 days of my time there although I have to check out and stayed over in Travelodge Newcastle for Thursday and Friday before my weekend trip down at Foster Tun Curry (Elizabeth Beach)But I've already book my Monday accommodation back here again before driving back to Sydney. I just can't get enough of this place and it's facilities and it's smiley staff. Ke...

This motel is very nice and classy and the location is good being situated right on the Pacific Highway and in a very quiet position but also close to fast food and fuel. The shopping centre of Raymond Terrace is just a short drive and it is still only about 30 minutes into the Newcastle CBD and beaches. The rooms are a bit aged but still very nice and large. No microw...

Chifley Hotel in Newcastle was a very pleasant surprise. Very close to the harbour, the Honeysuckle walk & Restaurants. Very handy to most locations you would want in Newcastle. Very clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay again when in Newcastle.

We booked the Crowne Plaza in NEwcastle for our wedding night, expecting to be greeted with excitement (I was still in my wedding dress), the front staff were very casual and definitely didn't make us feel special. Normally we wouldn't expect special treatment, but heck it was our wedding night!!!!!!! We were gifted a bottle of wine so we appreciated that and generall...

Pro: the apartment is mor toward house with 2 storeys, very comfy. The house provides everything: complete set of kitchen, laundry n dryer, car garage. 2 bed rooms are at second floor, very spacious and clean. Near to gas station n food. Cons: the host sent rules after booking--deposit of $200 in case something inside is broken or make noise that will get complain from...

The hotel is in the heart of Newcastle CBD. But the room we stayed is facing the main road so it's quite noisy if you don't close the windows. The room was clean but very small. The toilet was small too and looked like toilet in a plane (plastic wall and floor). I think I will not stay there again but it's not a bad stay for the price.

We were welcomed by friendly co operative staff, they were most helpful will all of our enquires, nothing was to much trouble for them. I have stayed here quite a few times now, and I am never dissapointed. I would highly recomment this hotel, for all types of activities. Charlestown is just on the door step, and Charlestown Square is out of this world, you must ...

A short drive down from Hallidays Point to find we are located smack in the middle of Newcastle CBD, perfect. Walk in to the Plaza and our first impressions were excellent!, mostly due to your desk staffs fantastic service and attitude. With formalities sorted, cars parked... next stop the room, and what a room. In one word "Huge" with views, clean, tidy and very comfo...

We booked the Burwood as we were looking for budget accommodation. The added breakfast was a bonus. The rooms aren’t very sound proof so the first night was quite disturbed with loud, inconsiderate guests coming in late and getting up very early, talking overally loudly and slamming doors. The 2nd and 3rd nights were considerably better. We had some problems with water...

The room was clean and modern and nice and spacious. I had read other reviews and noted that it was quiet. I did however get the front room so I did hear the street noise and there were some loud groups going down the street at night. I would stay again, but I would ask for a room off the street. Beaumont Street is very busy and bustling, but it was close to the wa...

Booked the triple room for a mate and I...great value at $90. Shared bathroom and toilet but these were clean and tidy and functional. Beer was good, staff great, plenty of sport on. It is a ways from Newcastle city but it suited us. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat !!

this is by far the best hotel in newcastle - we had an ocean view room which was awesome - had dinner in the restaurant which was one of the best meals ever - if your in newcastle or even if a local looking for a special night out this is the place for you.

The Star is a great apartment complex and delivers a good well appointed stay. Don't be surprised if you see no staff, you'll be totally self sufficient, with room and gate codes provided by SMS. I didn't have a problem with that, but some visitors may struggle. Anyway, it's worth persisting and the Star Hotel next door is great for a nice evening in too!

Despite our very late arrival to Newcastle, we were welcomed by one of the tavern staff for check-in and given warm words for my son who is starting a university life in Newcastle. The tavern has a restaurant which offers very nice continental menu to satisfy your appetite, wifi-access and clean facilities for common shared purposes. We were also given useful advice fo...

Have stayed at this motel a few times. This trip was, as before, excellent. The service from reception on arrival was top class. Had occasion to speak with staff during our stay and again, the response was polite , speedy and fruitful. The motel is, I believe, the best value around Newcastle.

Highly enjoyable stay. No problems. The cleaning staff even were highly attentive to any requirements and offered high standard of customer service. Hotel located in the center of Darby Street where restaurants are some of the best in Newcastle. Exceptional value all round.

Went over for the National Basketball we had to go between Newcastle Stadium and Maitland Stadium, and the train station, the Premier Hotel was close to these facilities. How stay there was the best ever even though we had to share the bath room and the kitchen wouldn't have it any other way. Would stay there again . Staff made us feel so welcome. 10 out of 10 we ...

This stay worked out OK but be aware that there are no staff at the complex, checking in and out is done by text messages and a letter box at other complex with a combination lock, information is text to you. Make sure you book car parking when booking your stay, could cause you a problem if you don't.

Everything's of good quality here: comfortable bed and pillows, modern and clean bathroom, good strong hot shower, nice toiletries. Staff are welcoming. Room Service is punctual and food is terrific! I can't find anything to complain. Will surely be back should I find myself in Newcastle again.

The apartment was just not worth the money, for nearly $300 a night you expect some luxury and this place had none. The basics; the mattress was lumpy with springs that stuck in my ribs, the bedroom fancy glass doors did not close/work, the furniture was old and marked, the shower was a very soft water saver, the shower door was jamming and hard to open/close, there wa...

Stayed one night. Came back for two more! A very restful stay. Very clean room and ensuite. Comfy bed. Table and chairs in the room really appreciated. Electric kettle and toaster. Issues's checking in but sorted. Be aware that commercial laundry operates out of the car park, a little weird but just take it easy driving in and out. Also there are two buildings, spent some time going round the back building when I was in the front! haha. Rooms are smaller than they appear in the photo's but well appointed. Make sure water is turned on when using t...
Cheap places to stay in Newcastle

Staff are helpful to let me check in before 3pm. While I would only stay one night, he had provided a useful map & marked on the map places of interest which I could manage to go on foot. I quickly walked to the beach & all the way up, walked downhill to the Museum before it closed at 5pm, then went to the suggested Darby St. with many restaurants to have my early din...

Newcastle hotels were more expensive than I thought they were going to be. Fortunately, I found this pub option. The place is clean. The staff is friendly (though the pub is only open in the afternoon and evenings, so the place isn't staffed 24/7). Yes, there is some noise from the pub, but the noise wasn't too bad in my room, and the noise ended before midnight. The s...

Surprised by many of the reviews here - if you're looking for a 5-star at this price, you will be disappointed. If you want a clean, comfortable, budget hotel within minutes walk of the beach and central Newcastle, then this is ideal. I was fine with the check-in process being automated and when I did have an issue, someone answered the phone in about 5 seconds to help...

When we arrived I was not too sure about the place but when we went up stairs and opened our room we were overly surprise with how beautiful the set up was our children loved it the Bed was super comfortable the bathroom was amazing we only stayed 1 night but we definitely will stay again. In Terms of location, its not in the best parts of Newcastle. But the pub that its in has a very nice restaurant, I just booked to stay because of the restaurant to be honest. But they only have one room with its own private bathroom. The Shared bathroom is not ideal. Also one other strange feature the power points are really low to the ground on the skirting board, s...

Lovely motel with immaculate rooms and a very welcoming host. Couldn’t find fault at all. We only stayed overnight and had an upstairs triple share room which was perfect for us. even tho ours was a short stay was perfectly located, extremely clean, well set up,comfortable beds (important)was surprised to have not one, but two balconies, perfect for either a short stay, would definitely stay again next time I'm in Newcastle only downside was no exhaust fan in bathroom

Our apartment was a south facing with a lovely large covered balcony. The floor was mid-grey tiles and the feature wall was a darker grey and the rug was black, all this equaled a beautiful but dark space. The kitchen was nice but there was no sponge and no tea towel which was inconvenient as we wanted to hand wash the final breakfast dishes. There's no reception you ...

The hotel is close to the beach and to the former train station. My room was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning was appreciated. The presence of Newcastle Improvised Music Association in the basement was welcome. Downsides included: the pub, restaurant and checkin were closed on Sunday night, there is no lift (as is the case with many old pub-style hotels), and ...

I was arriving late in Newcastle for a 4.30pm work meeting . I checked in about 3.30pm and at first I was confused. There was not building with "Best Western" branding, just a pub on the corner. I went in and found reception and I was in the right place. I voiced my concern about staying above a pub and they said, as it was a Tuesday it would not be that noisy. I arriv...

We had a lovely night and felt very well cared for, would 100% stay again! Great location if you're roadtripping and don't want to stray too far from motorway. But also easy to get into Newcastle and explore. We appreciated the extra mile that Sue and Phil go to in order to make you feel at home. We walked (only a block away) to local pub for dinner. Newcastle is a harbour city built on the Hunter river, stand on the foreshore and watch the massive ships come and go, excellent fishing and surf beaches, with protected tidal swimming pools as well as surfing, hang gliding, beautiful parks and gardens.
Newcastle is wonderful and one the most beautiful Australian cities. The beaches and beach baths are fantastic and especially Merewether Ocean baths which is a must.
lots of restaurants along the river, watch tug boats bring huge ships right in front of you. Visit to Fort Scratchly interesting.
I haven't been to Newcastle for a long time since the smelly smoggy days of BHP but my what a difference.
Newcastle is an interesting city in transition from being a busy industrial city to a more cosmopolitan centre.
Great dining strips at: Beaumont St, Hamilton, and Darby St, Newcastle city. Nobby's Head is a great place for walking.
I am a bit biased as it is my home town. It has changed alot from 'dirty old town' to trendy and increasingly expensive.
Newcastle is good if you have friends there. There are some really wonderful and interesting people who live there.
Tex's Wine Tours are inexpensive and well run. The Historic Museum in the old railway workshops near Queens Wharf are very good for mining and scientific interest
I travelled to Newcastle for a family birthday celebration. As my sister lives there, I have spent a little time visiting over the last few years.
Industrial town which has transformed since the earthquake in 1989. Unfortunately it's still a working class town with working class attitude and ignorance.
