Best hotels & accommodations in Newcastle upon Tyne

I always stay at this hotel in Newcastle. Its not the best hotel in newcastle, but it is in the best Location for nights out and trains home. Staff are always great, rooms are fine although look a bit dated. For the price, i'm certainly not complaining. Im guessing for a 3* hotel, this is the top end of that scale. The hotel has a feel of grandeur on the main stairwell...

The Hampton by Hilton Newcastle is about a two minute walk from the Newcastle Central Railway station. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with choices of fruit, fruit juices, pastries, coffees, teas, sausages, bacon and cereals. We stayed in both a double room and a family room. The double room was very comfortable and the family room was ...

Great boutique hotel right in Newcastle city centre. Good value hotel which was spotless. No bar or restaurant during our stay due to refurbishment other wise no complaints. Some floors are not accessible directly via lift so had to carry bags down some stairs.

Stayed here for an anniversary, something I mentioned when booking, and the hotel was kind enough to upgrade us for free to a king size corner room with views of both bridges (Tyne & Millenium). Staff were excellent in every way and the overnight parking was cheap. All that and the best location in the city

Enjoyed my stay here. There were good bars/ places to eat/ a waitrose nearby . 5 min walk to metro. Nice staff at the hotel. Had a good steak at Scalanis restaurant, Osbournes restaurant next to the hotel was a nice place for a drink. Especially worth a visit during happy hour. Taxi to Newcastle/Quayside easy to get/book and not sure exactly, (due to amount of alcohol ...

The only hotel you should be staying in Tyneside if you are a Newcastle United fan. My room windows were facing St James Park stadium which is just across the road. The metro station is also just opposite the hotel. Beautiful rooms and quite big enough for me and my wife and our luggages. Eldon Square and Chinatown is only minutes away by foot. Staff were friendly and ...

Booked two rooms for myself husband, son and his fiancee could not believe they gave us fifth floor executive rooms with balconies overlooking the tyne bridge and river along with admission to the executive lounge with free alcholic drinks and snacks before we went out to the evening wedding night at the Sage just over the road. Booked the breakfast on arrival at disc...

The whole hotel including the rooms are spotless clean and tidy. Breakfast is delicious and probably where we had the best food in Newcastle where the food offer is generally poor. Location is ideal. One step from the central station and metro station; two steps from the centre. One of the few hotels with a good spa, but unfortunately on Saturday it got so crowded tha...

Just one night but the daytime and evening staff were fantastically heloful, friendly and interacted with their custimers in a professional, happy and welcoming manner. I canniot recommend enough that this should be your hotel of choice In Newcastle for it's obvious staff performances, location for travellers and revellers alike. The only negative could be for those ...

Quite nice hotel in Jesmond with good standards. Stayed here for two nights and had a silent clean room with a good bed. Close to city centre and you can easily walk to Haymarket or take the metro only one station to be there. Fairly normal modern standard, but worth its price. It's a safe buy.

Visited Village Hotel Newcastle again as we were so impressed the first time. The staff are lovely and very helpful and always at hand day or night. The rooms are always very clean and tidy and very comfortable. Enjoyed the breakfast every day and would recommend to other travellers without hesitation. Only one bug bear, could we just have a kettle and some coffee ...

Modest but adequate room size. More plug sockets than I've ever seen in a hotel room before - the whole family could charge phones, tablets, computers and cameras and still have a socket to use the tea and coffee making facilities! Good cooked breakfast. Easy check-in and out. Staffing was sparse as you'd expect in a budget location but they were responsive, helpfu...

Recently stayed at the Doubletree at Newcastle Airport, found it to be an excellent hotel, and very reasonably priced. Reception staff were very pleasant, and plenty of parking available on site. The King room was very comfortable, and we had a very good nights sleep. The buffet breakfast was also very good, a lot better than those I've had at other hotels, and the ...

First ever hotel we stayed that goes an extra mile for their guests. Notable examples include: - good room/furniture layout. - proper designed kitchen (you don't bang your head when cooking). - laundry basket in the room (laundry use is free but you have to buy wash tablets or bring your own). - 24h complementary bar that offers tea, coffee, sparkling water and st...

We booked a small double for £52, and continental breakfast. The Cairn is well located for access to Newcastle, on a busy road. Sunday night in Jesmond is quieter than the rest of the weekend. Our room was small, but clean. I hated the hard pillows, my husband loved them. We were unfortunate to have two air conditioning units on the external wall and a staff room of ...

After booking on a bargain price I checked previous reviews, some of which were awful. However I noticed they were from some years ago, more recent reviews were far more positive. And I can only add to them, was nicely situated just a mile from the centre with bus stops nearby, staffwere freindly and helpful, room was great and bed very comfy. Only problem on the 2nd n...

There were absolute no cons - my room was upgraded from single to double for free. Excellent provision of basic things such as soap, shampoo, shower caps - I travel a lot and have noticed sadly that these basic provisions are often forgotten about. The room was lovely, extremely clean and absolutely great value for money. The staff were the friendliest I’ve ever met - ...

Clean hotel. But when I book a double room, it generally for 2. Forced to pay extra ( no option they had my money) the bed is reminiscent of a lie down in the jail. Hard and not comfortable. There are great hotels in the wonderful city of Newcastle unfortunately this is not one of them; heard the restaurant is amazing from many locals though so a pro in there...somewhe...

The price was very reasonable and we had a good nights sleep. The cleanliness of the hotel wasn't the greatest, however I wasn't expecting 5*. The staff were lovely and the service was 100%. For a last minute cheap overnight stay I would recommend it.

Breakfast excellent. Parking convenient but pricey. Storage/hanging space limited especially if one stays for more than a few days. Complimentary room bar (no alcohol). Room beginning to look a little in need of minor attention. Would I stay there again - DEFINITELY!

Very helpful and friendly staff on arrival. The showers and toilets were spotlessly clean and the dormitory was pleasant. The bunk bed was comfy. Downstairs the kitchen and outside space were very nice too, great to be able to make food and drinks and use the internet lounge. A little noisy later on, but it was saturday night in newcastle, so not for someone who wants ...

great little hotel fantastic food great reception and bar staff was disappointed at 9.45 a tall guy who does the rooms knocked very loudly on the door to tell us checkout starts at 9am until 11 am ? I informed him that reception told me it was 11am and I was going for breakfast first we had a small child with us and I have never heard of checkout at 9am until 11 am ...

It is cheap and cheerful. The staff are really friendly. Dont expect the hotel to be fine dining because it definitely isn't! Agoda listed that breakfast was included but the manager informed me that it isnt and that they had informed agoda of this. I had proof on an email so I got my breakfast but it wasn't very good. You definitely get what you pay for. .. like I s...

We were traveling late at night so arrived at about 3am, although the doors are locked there is a phone number to call to get in after 10pm, (make sure you have charge on your phone), the receptionist gave us a room at the back overlooking the trees rather than the road which was very quiet. Its a perfect location if you are coming from the motorway and there is a G...

I only used it for a one night stay whilst attending a rugby match but it was a very comfortable stay. Single room had plenty of space and a very good bathroom. All the staff I encountered were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was served in a pleasant dining room with plenty of choice and very also good value. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

On arrival we were a little early but we relaxed in the bar until check in time. The hotel was in the early stages of a refurb, considering this there was not very much disruption. I stayed at this hotel as it was in central Newcastle, next to the station and lots of restaurants nearby. Unfortunately the reason for my visit was to see a relative who was seriously ill and in hospital. The staff were great, asked how she was following her operation, asked if she was still on ventilator, they were just so genuinely nice and interested. I will in the...

All staff friendly and considerate couldn’t be more helpful seeing that I had had a part knee 10 days earlier and my wife had a broken wrist in plaster room small but it was booked at last minute and last room available but nice and clean and tidy good Wi-fi

Have stayed multiple times and will continue to come back each time i visit newcastle. Great Hotel with very friendly staff who are willing to help out with anything. The only downside is the parking is sometimes difficult, although the hotel do provide a valet.

Really nicely presented hotel. Was a Sunday night so perhaps they were a little shortstaffed leading to a couple of short delays with check in/check out/drinks service owing to there not being a second member of staff on duty but these were reasonable and the service very very professional and friendly. Only real thing to consider is that the room was on the top floo...

Staff very friendly, no hair dryer and the remote control didn't work in the room, the staff did correct this quickly. Our room was noisy, the wardrobe was difficult to open and was difficult to get hanging clothes in and out of.The bathroom was very nice apart from the toilet is far too low, my parents would not of been able to get on and off the loo seat if they were...

The "free parking" is about 3 blocks away and is not affiliated with the hotel in any way. It is free for anyone from 5pm to 8am. If you don't want to pay anything, you'll have to move the car by 8am. Or, if you want to leave it after 8am, you'll need to show up between 7-8 am to grab a ticket. I am uncertain if you can grab a ticket at night to avoid having to ret...

This is our second visit to the hotel this year. We usually stay in Newcastle but found parking easy and free at this hotel and a bus stop outside for easy access into the city. The room was clean and had good facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Gloria SW France

Traveler impressions of Newcastle upon Tyne
This city is better than I expected and it has the combination of old and new things in one place. You can enjoy the scenery of the river with a marvellous city icon the millennium bridge or shop till you drop at the city centre.
Newcastle is a vibrant city, steeped in history. There streets are littered with interesting architecture.
Great place for seeing concerts at one of the major venues. Quayside very attractive with Sunday markets.
Lovely city. Easy access to parts of the city by metro but most interesting places are within walking distance.

More about Newcastle upon Tyne
Newcastle’s most beautiful buildings and famous landmarks such as Grainger Market, Theatre Royal, and Grey Street are all located within the historic Grainger Town and city center. Hotels located in Grainger Town are therefore the perfect choice for culture and arts enthusiasts who want to be within walking distance of Newcastle’s old town and current arts scene, of which it has an impressive amount.
Of course, a couple of days of architecture and museum exploring should be balanced with some time spent in nature, and Jesmond Dene is the perfect destination for exactly that. This gorgeous city park is actually one of a large system of urban parks that snake around the city, connecting with many other parks along a two-mile walking path and eventually leading to the famous South Gosforth.
As seen in recent popular culture, Newcastle has a very lively nightlife, so one need to only venture out of their hotel to find all the fun and excitement.
