preserving the nature, terrible traffic, fair temperature and weird weather (5 minutes scatter shower at least 10 times a day).
Tourist area generally safe and lots of police present. people are friends and helpful, didn't meet a bad taxi drivers.
Honolulu is state capital of all the Hawaiian islands. Waikiki is where all the actions for visitors.
Nightlives is always vibrant in Waikiki. The paradise settings is await for visitors. Waikiki is where you want to be: centrally located for indoor and outdoor activities to suit passions.
Oahu Island, one of the Island chains is awaiting for tourist to explore: Many call a paradise Island.
It gives you many options of activities to choose to fit your interests and passions.
if we get the opportunity to go back, we would never leave it. second best place i've visited. Island is pretty big and has plenty of stuff to do from nice beaches to trekking to see most wonderful waterfall.
We took theBus to reach our destination and saw many interesting stuff on the way. to go around the whole island would take about 3-4 hours but worth it. do visit the Flee market for cheap shopping.
Oahu was a great island to visit. We stayed in Waikiki the whole 5 nights but that didn't stop us from traveling around the whole island.
If you rent a car, it is about a 3hr drive around the whole island. Northshore is a must visit place with beautiful beaches. Must do attractions - Pearl Harbour, Luau at the Diamond Head Aquarium, beaches and shopping. Many say to do Diamond Head however I personally preferred Kokohead Trail (both provided an amazing 360 degree view of Hawaii). In saying this I preferred Kokohead because it does not attract as many tourists, it is a physically more demanding and there is no supervision, the hike is x1000 times more harder than Diamond Head but the view from up top is incredible and definitely worth the physically demanding hike; better yet, it is not crowded at the top with tourists. If you do do it, bring PLENTY of water, sunscreen to reapply and a camera.
I liked my first visit to Hawaii. It was very familiar to me as I have been to mainland USA also, but the Polynesian feel & history makes it more enjoyable.
For me....,the bestof Hawaii is its landscapes and modern history attractions. apart from that....., it like any other place in the USA.
Hawaii is amazing if it comes to beaches, people and spirit. always very relaxing and fun vacation here.
we will be back!
I was shocked to see the rock barriers in the ocean beach area, and Waikiki and Oahu hotel beach front looks more like Las Vegas rather than unique Waikiki, Oahu.
Honolulu is very easy city to get around. The bus service and the trolley service are outstanding and quite cheap.
Not sure about driving as we used the buses or tours. Great beach at Waikiki. Felt very safe walking around the streets at night or early morning. Visit the old volcano, climb to the top for fantastic views of Honolulu, a hard climb in the heat but well worth the effort just take plenty water with you as there is only one vendor in the car park no other shops or kiosks.
Love the place, can't wait to go back. Highly recommend it to everyone, it's a must see destination
Great place for shopping, airport can be very busy so allow extra time to go through customs and walking to gate departure when leaving Restaurants are ok and locals very friendly and everyone is called cousins or junior.
Each island is very different so try and experience more than one island. Oahu being the most commercialised and suited particularly for shopping.
But you can easily get away from the high rise and see the rest of the island - highly recommended.
Hawaii is a very interesting place to visit. A different culture within a country already very diverse.
People extremely friendly and very proud of their own identity.
I love this city!!!~You can find everything you want to do here. The weather is super nice throughout the whole year.
Foods are good since people form all over the world live here.
We visited the Polynesian Cultural Centre out at Laie which is pricey but well worth the visit. We have three children between 10 and 21 who all loved it.
It pays to get there at 12.00pm if you want to be able to experience all the villages, otherwise do it over 2 days as it can be a very long day. We did it in one day, however we did not have enough time to do the canoe ride. We ate at the Hale Aloha Luau which was the most expensive one, but the food and show were excellent. The night show as also very good. Recommend to everyone to visit.
Great dining and many choices of eating places for all budgets and tastes. Shopping is excellent, especially at the Ala Moana shopping mall.
Beaches are lovely and appealing to all ages, even families with young children can stay close to beach. Make sure to hire a car and travel around the island to the less commercial spots and to enjoy the beautiful natural scenary.
Definitely take a local tour out of Waikiki area as there is so much more to see than just Waikiki and the shops.
The highlight was the North Shore where the beaches for international surf competitions were held. This was very pretty and worth the trip out. We also swam in Waimea waterfalls and saw the lookout points and Halona blow hole. The Polynesian Cultural Centre is also a must see as well as the ranch where Secret Island is. Swimming in the beach at the secret island was bliss!
Great beaches, would be nice if there was information about night life especially for first timers to Oahu, also people could've more friendly,
Oahu is a great place to visit with a group of friends or family. There is something for everyone. The beaches are great and so are the water sports and activities.
The North shore in particular has a lot of beautiful beaches and I especially love my visit to Hanauma Bay and Turtle Bay.
I love Hawaii. There's so many things to do. Everything is laid back so don't expect modern clubs or party life but the beach life is far better.
The shopping is great !
Beautiful island and much to do. Honolulu needs to get a handle on the homeless situation however. It is a turnoff and can be scary to constantly be confronted by a very present homeless population.
It is great for shopping but food and sightseeing is way to exspencive, hawaii would not be on my recommendation lost
As a solo traveler I used to sleep after a night out drinking. But I went on a whale watching with Star of Honolulu and this is something you should not miss if you have never seen any whale before.
I also went to a Luau, what a waste of time. But I guess you have to do it when going to Hawaii
the most lively Island for night life an, sports, beach activities, conference and entertainment. Can't beat Oahu.
A very nice warm and friendly place with a very nice beach and cheap trolley bus services to see around part of the Island.
The mainstay of Oahu is tourism and the armed forces. Good base to visit the other Hawaiian islands.
Great for surfing, swimming, scenary and relaxing.
Great place to relax. The people are really friendly and welcoming. Plenty of attractions to visit and see.
You forget you're in America. A truly beautiful environment. Such a great History. Lots to see and a lot of amazing helpful people.
I am a budget traveler and some things are a bit pricey but it is worth it. Enjoy!!
Oahu was a dream come true. The food is excellent, especially if you are a fan of sushi. Hawaiian style "poke" is consistently amazing! The mountains and terrain are beautiful to behold; they actually take your breath away.
There are great beaches all around, and lots of great shopping malls all around Honolulu. While there is a good bus system in place, traffic is often very heavy, especially on the main highways. Also, things tend to close too early, around 5 or 6pm. But there is still plenty of nightlife and things to do and see. Definitely a place to visit time and again.
Many beautiful beaches and a lot of precious histories. The public bus is convenient but it is recommended that you rent a car so that you can travel from one place to another much easier.
It saves a lot of time.
