"I was in Oban for a couple of nights to try and get the feel of the countryside in the Highlands. Royal hotel is very aptly situated if you are planning to travel by bus. The buses stop and start just next to the hotel and this makes the location perfect, not-to-mention the town's main street is just next to the hotel on 5 minute walk. My only concern was that the wifi was not made available in the room and hence had to come down to the dining room or the lounge to get access to net. What I liked particularly was the bath tub. I had been to Ben Nevis and gotten drenched on my climb. The bathtub provided the perfect solace in the evening. Spent an hour soaking myself which brought me back to life. Hotel is completely worth the price they quoted. Wonderful to have stayed here. Will probably stay here again if I get another opportunity to visit Oban."

"A comfortable and nicely designed boutique hotel in a prime location on Oban's waterfront. The property seems to have been recently refreshed and everything feels high quality and well cared for, and we were upgraded to a partial ocean view room which was lovely. The bathroom is pretty tiny, but very functional (and looking at the floorplan it seemed even the bigger rooms have small bathrooms), and the hotel was very cosy in the typically cold and wet Scottish weather. I felt the shared spaces were not up to the same standard as the rooms, however - the restaurant was comfortable but quite dark at breakfast time due to the window blinds being partly lowered, and the bar was very well stocked with a friendly bartender but too brightly lit and weirdly sterile and lacking in atmosphere."

"I understand the current situation and how hotels may not be bale to perform to their best. However, dirty rooms x 2, no towels or anything else in rooms, no pressure whatsoever in showers, general uncleanliness and a total waste of money"

"Impressive building both inside and out. Set menu dinner with choice of 3 main courses. Good breakfast. Very heavy bulky dining room chairs, not easy for the elderly to move. Avoid bedrooms over the bar area if you want to sleep before midnight. Singer every night in bar . Rooms at the front have beautiful view of Oban bay. "

"Our stay at Corran House was fantastic. Our room was a nice size with a beautiful view. The bathroom was large and immaculate, and hot water was always plentiful (bonus!) The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and we felt quite welcome there. Having the kitchen available for guest use was a wonderful resource. Clean, open and inviting, it was nice to have the option to bring in your own groceries or buy items from the hostel fridge, especially for those with dietary concerns. After talking with other friends that were also staying in Oban during this time, I was more than satisfied that choosing Corran House was a smart decision. When we come back to Oban, we will be staying here again. "
