"Quite in the countryside, the farmhouse makes you feel like you went back in time in some traditional Japanese place. The staff is very friendly and will welcome you with some drink, let you chose a yukata before showing you all the facilities and your room. There is a lot of bath you can privatise, with an old wood heated one. The dinner and breakfast were amazing, we had the chance to have dinner next to the fireplace with the staff cooking fish, mushrooms next to us, that was fantastic. We also had the chance to meet the owner at the end of our stay and he gave us some souvenir related to his sumo career. There is also a shuttle between Seibu-Chichibu station and the ryokan, making it really easy to go there. Finally, the countryside of Ogano is beautiful to explore, Chichibu itself is also full of nice places to visit. And if you go back to Tokyo by train afterwards, don't hesitate to stop by Nagatoro."
