"The hotel is located at a 15 minute working distance from the Ostend station. The room is a medium size, but comportable. The most satisfactory thing is a nice breakfast. The hotel serves fresh fruits, eggs, breads, and a pot of coffee. At night we enjoyed a draft beer at the bar in the hotel. Overall, the hotel was good enough."

"In fact, this is not the first time I stayed here and we stayed 2 nights, not one. ALthough the exterior of the hotel is not appealing, it has a lot going for it. The location first of all: the old majestic silhouette of the Oostende station in the background, the Amandine (a codfishing vessel turned museum) in front, docking yachts to the left, the screeching seagulls overhead. There is also the name of the place that could have come straight out of a novel featuring le commissaire Maigret: 'Hotel du Grand Bassin' but that also reminds me of how this dock was called when I was young. The rooms are simply furnished but comfortable. The only thing I missed was a bottle of water. Breakfast is fastiduous, and the a la carte menu offers a wide and not too traditional choice although the shrimp croquettes feature also inevitably here. When you count the occupied tables and compare with other restaurants along the quay, you can see this is a popular place and for good reason"

"We stayed for one night as we were visiting family in the area. The hotel is situated close and within walking distance to the seafront, shops, cafes and other eating establishments. The room was clean and tidy, however, if you expect to have a morning cup you will have to wait for breakfast as there is no tea/coffee making equipment in the room. "
