Pai is located near the Myanmar border, and the many who stop at this sleepy outpost fall in love with its people, culture, and way of life. Pai has developed in recent years to appeal to a variety of travelers. Though small, a range of Pai accommodations such as traditional guest houses, mountain bungalows, Western-styled hotels, and spa resorts are available here.
Pai can be reached by either plane or bus. By plane, travelers can fly directly from Chang Mai to Pai Airport
Pai is known for its laidback way of life, and travelers have the freedom to choose between adventure or relaxation. For the adventurous, schedule a guided elephant tour through the jungles around Pai, splashing through rivers along the way. Or take to the rapids with white-water rafting tours available for the novice and extremist alike. Numerous waterfalls such as Moe Pang Waterfall
are a short distance away, and the hot springs offer the perfect dip.
Food, drink, and entertainment in Pai caters as much to locals as it does to foreigners, with plenty of international influences apparent. Thai restaurants are supplemented by burger joints and vegetarian cafés, with the obligatory reggae bar and cover band bar thrown in for good measure.
