Pangkor Sandy Beach Resort
Pangkor Island,Pangkor - View on map
"We arrived on Pangkor with the 7:30 am ferry. The receptionist and owner were very considerate as we had travelled all through the night from Kota Bharu to Lumut. We could check into our room straight away and received a complimentary breakfast on top of that. The room was perfect. Very clean and modern. The whole complex is very well looked after and the pool was excellent. The location is great on a nice beach (water sport activities on the doorstep) Good motorbikes and motorcycles are available for hire at the reception. When traveling around the island it became obvious that Pangkor Sandy Beach Resort is definitely one of the best we have seen. The owner is continuously looking into improving the resort, and he's got some good plans. We would definitely return here in a couple of years time when traveling in Malaysia again."

Pangkor Laut Resort
Pangkor Laut Island,Pangkor - View on map
"We head to Pangkor Laut because we felt that we deserve the best place(yes we escaped from a mosquito nest in one of the hotels in pasir bogak beach) Absolutely love the service right from the beginning of the trip, at the jetty in marina island to the end of our stay. Staff were professional and all of them has a bright smile. Upon arrival at the resort, we were greeted again with yummy berry juice. Due to high volume of bookings, we were the last to get our rooms(which is fine since we were not in any hurry and good clean place to relax while waiting). As a compensation to our long wait, we were upgraded twice to the best room for honeymooners-Spa Villa! Everything there was pricey, but it was worth every single penny. We were served with nothing but the best. Breakfast was fabulous and we had the best chinese peranakan food on earth! Upon checking in, there was a deposit of RM2000 and whatever expenditure on that island, will be deducted from it. So we went around cash free. As for activities, I do not find it very fascinating due to the condition of the water and visibility. I had taichi by the sea, though. and it was fun. Transportation around the island is provided. There are live 10 seater van or a land rover going around to transport guests to beaches, spa, rooms and restaurants. Yes this place sounds like an ideal holiday destination, because it simply is. To Pangkor laut staff, including the gardeners, cleaners, drivers and the list goes on, thank you for your making our stay a pleasant and memorable one. "

Marina Island Pangkor Resort & Hotel
Marina Island,Pangkor - View on map
"This hotel is ideally located to explore Pangkor Island with a quick 10 minute trip on a ferry which is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Half price return ferry tickets available to guests. Superior accommodation compared to Pangkor island. Breakfast has good choices and evening meals are prepared fresh with a good variety at very reasonable rates. Hire a bicycle, play table tennis or place a deposit for board games which can be enjoyed in the large hotel suites. Some rooms have a bath and a superb central shower. Staff are friendly and accommodating with prompt assistance when needed. Car parking free at the hotel for guests and there is a small shopping area at the Pier. This was the best place we have stayed throughout our visit to both Thailand and Malaysia. Highly recommended hotel to explore Pangkor which is quiet during week days. All rooms have balconies and fantastic sea views. It is difficult to believe other comments made about this hotel as we didn't experience any of these, so maybe they have been addressed and rectified."

Traveler impressions of Pangkor

More about Pangkor

The small tropical island of Pangkor has come a long way from being inhabited by only fishermen and pirates. This now well-developed beach destination offers low-key holidays and beautiful scenery. Other beach resorts in Malaysia tend to attract more tourists, but that leaves Pangkor less hectic and easier to enjoy. The local airport accepts flights from Kuala Lumpur, and a ferry from the nearby coastal town of Lumut access Pangkor Laut Island.

Beaches are a natural draw to the island, with swimming and basking popular leisure on the beaches of Coral Bay, Teluk Belanga, and Pasir Bogak. The island also has a colonial heritage. The remains of a 17th century Dutch Fort makes for an interesting attraction, and plenty of historical information is provided at the site. A massive granite tablet called Batu Bersurat details the history and local myth.

Fresh seafood as well as Chinese and Malay dishes are the dining opportunities most enjoyed on the island. The area of Pasir Bogak is said to be the greatest area to enjoy the local food as well as watching local fishermen ply their trade.
