Petra hotels & places to stay

From the moment we arrived in Jordan, the Petra Moon provided a top notch service. We arranged for the hotel to collect us from the airport, the driver was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Our room (family room)was large and spotlessly clean. The hotel really is only a few minutes walk from the gate to Petra, which was great after walking all day! The beds were very comfortable, the air conditioning worked well (it was a little noisy but I'm a light sleeper) We paid for wifi and were a little disappointed that the payment was per device, not per room. We mentioned this during check out and the receptionist said he would bring it to the management's attention (watch this space!!) The breakfast set us up for the day and was of good quality, the selection more than adequate. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Petra Moon to my friends and family.

This was my first stay in hotel in Jordan. I wanted to go to Petra immediately once we arrived at there,so this was the best hotel. We stayed for 2 nights and this was definitely worth for money. Night at Petra was not up to the level I expected but day time walking around Petra was really nice. I want to take my parents here and stay for a few days..The bar in the cave was really awesome!

i was very impressed with the service at la maison hotel. the staff was very friendly and helpful. i traveled from the border crossing near eilat. i was concerned with my transfer to la maison hotel. i could have taken a taxi from the border to aqaba then a bus to petra. trying to make the best of my time i asked the hotel for a taxi to meet me at the border. they sent a gentleman whom i did not know nor heard any thing about. i was a little nervous but as i said he was a gentleman. we went straight to petra but he was concerned about our we being so he stopped without me asking him. to get water and a snack at a market for us on the way and then stopped at a great little restaurant in petra to get us lunch. i felt very comfortable with him and when we got ready to go back to the border and over to israel i called him and his father picked us up. he made one stop to give us a beautiful view of the petra area. they were great, when staying at la maison ask for driver Bayan Al-Farajat.

Good, solid hotel with great staff. Nice breakfast and great location just 500 steps from the Petra Park entrance. No gym though, but great pools. Rooms were older and clean, but wiring and plugs for modern computer / devices is challenging. It's a good value compared to the other hotels in the area, and great location for access to every where in town and for the park. The staff and reception were great at recommending cars, tours and guides, and restaurants. Thanks for making our Christmas holiday so fun in Jordan!

My husband took me to Jordan for my birthday this past weekend and we spent two nights in the Petra Sella Hotel. It was absolutely perfect. We arrived a little bit late to the hotel on the first night. When we got there they offered us a welcome drink, checked us in and asked if we were hungry. The kitchen was closed already, but they opened it up just for us so we could try some local food. It was amazing. After a delicious meal we went to bed. The room was really clean and cozy. The bed was so comfortable I feel right to sleep. The next morning we were up early to go to the Petra Historical Site. Breakfast ready for us when we went downstairs (which was included in the room price). The food was so good each day and there was plenty of it as well. We had a rental car so going to do sightseeing and going the main part of town was really easy. The staff were extremely helpful. They offered us directions and suggestions of places to go. I would highly recommend someone stay at this hotel on their next trip to Jordan. :)

Me and my group stayed here for about 5 nights, i promised with the manager (or owner i'm not sure) that it was such a memorable place that i would recommend you to have a stay in Petra. The hotel is not far from the Petra's entrance that we can walk. The staff is very helpful, nice and friendly. The most thing that i like is food, both breakfast and other meals. We realize that having meals order from the hotel is tastier and cheaper than outside the hotel, with extra salad and french fries by no extra charges. (Not like in the Petra heritage that they always ask for extra tips).Also In the hotel i feel very safe and quite. The room is big enough and they gave us the a nice view side. If you are not looking for a 5 star hotel this one is a good choice and valuable. If i have a chance to come back, i will choose this hotel again for sure!!.

We stayed here three nights with our adult daughter. It was so relaxing and wonderful to come back to after full days of touring Petra. The breakfast was delicious and filling. The evening tea and music were a perfect end to the evening. We opted for dinner for two nights and it was delicious. The staff is really friendly and helpful and it was nice to sit around the fire drinking tea and chatting with other guests. No complaints. It was everything that we hoped it would be - a highlight of our trip to Israel and Jordan. Warning though - you are sleeping in tents and you will hear other people. If it's cold, you'll be warm enough under a lot of blankets and the tents are cozy and protect you from the wind and weather, but the bathrooms are down the path. If rustic accommodations are not your thing, it's probably not for you. We, personally, thought it was the best place ever. So peaceful and a respite from the hustle and bustle of Petra.

We enjoyed our stay in Petra to the fullest thanks to the quality of the Movenpick. Firstly, the location is very good, right on the visitors' entrance. Secondly, we were upgraded to a junior suite, which makes things even better. On top of that, the people at the front desk are always attentive and keen to answer any questions on regards to Petra itself (Petra by night, fees, etc) or where to dine, etc. As for the negative things, there weren't many. I'd say that the breakfast buffet is not the best one I have been to (lack of fruit, pastries not that good), but it is good enough for make you enjoy the stay. The food isn't cheap. Remember that you are staying at a 5* hotel.

Me and my mum were looking for an affordable, clean place to stay while visiting Petra. Al Rashid Hotel lived up to our expectations and then some. The place was clean and for the price it's terrific. Though it is a little bit of a walk (20 minutes up hill) from the entrance to Petra, I'd still recommend it - when we were too tired to walk, we took a cab for 1 jd. Mostly, we were happy because of the staff. The manager gave us wonderful advice on what routes to take to avoid falling into a tourist trap at Petra. He drew us a map, which ended up being really helpful. We also got a lunch box with our breakfast in on the days when we left before 6 am. Can definitely recommend.

I had a good stay in Sharah Mountains Hotel. Stayed there for 2 nights in late April 2018. It provides basic amenities but otherwise was exceptionally clean. Shower was clean, clean towels were provided. Hot water was hot. Breakfast was good for the price that you pay. Did not have any of the dinner buffet there though as most of the evenings I was pretty worn out and just wanted to chill out in the room. I guess the place is being run by 2 brothers. One of them Mehmoud was exceptionally good and took steps to ensure that our visit to Petra ( we took 2 days Petra with Petra at night as well). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. If there's any downside it would be the location in relation to Petra. The hotel itself is in the town, located close to shops and restaurants. Walking back and forth to Petra may not be an option. However, again Mehmoud took steps to ensure we have free shuttle to go and get back from Petra at anytime of the day. Mohd Ramadhan

The hotel design blends perfectly with the surrounding natural environment. We really enjoyed exploring the large complex, watching the sunset from one of the many little outdoor sitting areas, and eating breakfast on the restaurant patio. The staff was able to eventually understand our questions about vegan food options, and were very accommodating. Fantastic beds/linen, and cool relaxing uniquely designed interior. Definitely the most interesting, attractive, and comfortable place we stayed at in Jordan!

The location of AlAnbat is great, therooms were clean and the linen was crisp. The staff was very friendly and management in fact upgraded our room. You can enjoy great views of Petra from the hotel. The free shuttle to Petra visitor centre is a good bonus, although the buffet breakfast could have better variety. Would strongly recommend for families, good value for money! Will surly visit again

We had walked for 5 hours in Petra and were very tired. We needed to shower and freshen up and rest at the earliest. That is where this hotel was a little elusive, as it was not showing up on the GPS. The trick to finding this hotel is to drive towards Wadi Musa from the Petra Site. Then head to the center of the village, where you will see a triangular divider in the middle of the street to your left. There is a cafe there called "Why Not". Once there, go straight until you cross a speed bump on the road, take the first right that follows the bump, and then the first right after that. a few meters you will see the property on the right hand side. The building of the hotel is not so impressive, but the rooms are very clean, the bedding is really comfortable, the bathrooms are squeaky clean too and the best part of the stay will be the view of the city. We woke up really early morning to catch the sun rise from our room. The food, though not a very wide spread of options, was tasty.

thanks to the lovely staff at edom the stay has been the best so far. this level of service will be difficult to match by other hotels. mahumud at the front desk went out of his way to ensure that i am able to change my bookings from 2 days to 1 day on checking in to facilitate me coming back to petra for the night visit as it wasn't on when i checked in. i have of course booked myself back in edom. the room & facilities are in line with a budget hotel and are adequate.

First, let me clarify something, although this is a great hotel, it is not a luxury one; but I hope thats not what you are expecting from a hotel in this area. The hotel is very comfortable, the staff are friendly. We had our room incorrectly offered to us as a twin (rather than double) but they gave us a double suite once we informed them. The place is busy, full of people from various different tours of Petra. The showers are very adequate with good water pressure. There is wifi, a bar, and a restaurant. The choice of food is very limited for breakfast, and dinner but then again, you havent come here for food, you've come top see petra! Petra is about 10min taxi ride away which is not bad. Overall, I would highly recommend this place, looking at other hotels in the area, this is one of the top 3-4 large ones that exist. The prices are not cheap but again, even the local restaurants in the nearby town/village are expensive compared the same in London/Dubai/etc! Its a very historical tourist site, where you are expected to spend a little more!

As the hotel I reserved was being renovated I was re-booked to the Movenpick at the gate of the historical park - so entry to the park was very easy as it was just a few metres away. The hotel was comfortable and my room had a small balcony. There is a good swimming pool and a good rooftop restaurant / bar. Unfortunately, smoking seems to be allowed just about everywhere.

we have been to a lot of hotels in jordan and this was by far the best in terms of the experience and the value. the hotel has a very cozy comfortable feel about it and ibrahim and his staff are incredible. they will go out of their way to ensure everything is catered for and treat you like family. they were very good in arranging various trips and services and helped us in making arrangements at rates lower than what we found around. the rooms are spacious and very cozy and certainly feel like a home in jordan. beds are comfortable with very good heating / air-conditioning. we had trouble with heating in other hotels as it can get very cold in winter but the heating here was fabulous. you have hot water via solar heating and large, thick bath towels. there is satellite tv and dvd player (on request). the lobby has books and movies and is a very good corner for sitting and reading or chatting with others. tea/ coffee is available any time. there is a very good shuttle service to petra and back. breakfast is fresh and very good to last you for a good hiking day in petra. you have excellent places for dinner and local sweets nearby, including supermarkets and staff will be more than happy to point you to good ones and tell you the local prices since tourists are often overcharged in the area. they can also arrange trips to wadi rum, aqaba or the dead sea at very good rates or tell you what you should be paying if you were to arrange it yourself. we also took a look at other hotels while we were there and this is definitely the best hotel in town.

We had a very pleasant stay at Mussa Spring. The staff here were all very helpful and assisted us with arrangements for everything from taxis, tours, buses, food, everything really. They helped us with an overnight stay and all transport to Wadi Rum, early morning transport to Petra, public bus to Amman, all with reasonable prices compared to tourist pricing in the town. Although very budget accomodation and outside of town (25 min walk/3-5 JD taxi), we would recommend here as the staff were so friendly, helpful and could organise anything around the area. We would like to personally thank Suliman and the manager who went above and beyond, along with all other staff.

We booked a deluxe room and based on the TV and AC, I think we got one, but the room was still small. Although we specifically booked a king-size bed, as a male couple, the clerk gave us a room with two twin beds without asking our approval. Since he and his colleague spoke in Arabic, then used the words "king-sized bed" in English, it seemed prudent not to fuss. If things were loud on the street, I think there would be a lot of noise. The beds were comfortable, room was clean and shower was good. The breakfast spread was fairly good, and the location was fantastic, just a short walk to the Petra entrance. We lucked out with parking right in front of the hotel.

Amra Palace impressed us from the reception. The staff were extremely warm and friendly and made us feel right at home. After a long day at Petra, our aching bodies were soothed by the pool, jacuzzi, turkish bath and most importantly, the comfortable rooms. Special mention goes to the beds which were extremely plush, as well as the masseurs at the turkish bath who were highly skillful. Price wise, this hotel was also very value for money. Even though Amra is not located within minutes of the Petra visitor entrance, Amra provides free shuttle buses as early as 7 am. Also, a taxi from Amra to the visitor entrance is just 2 JD. We were very sad to leave Amra Palace after two nights of comfort and faultless service.

Had an outstanding stay here. Perfect base from whicj to explore petra - small room but well decorated and feels homely, very attentive staff particularly the manager gail, comfortable and communal common room whicj would be an excellent place to unwond in busier seasons i quiet seasons the couches were just perfect for me to take a load off and watch tv, plenty of local restaurants within reach although nobody comes to wadi musa for the food. Keenly priced. Would very highlu reccomend.

The hotel was inexpensive and functional, and very quiet. Not exactly as advertised: It's a long walk down hill to the Petra visitor's center (and then a long walk back up hill into town). The hotel listing advertised a pool but the pool is actually at the Al Anbat I an expensive taxi ride quite far out of town. The breakfast was extremely Spartan. But this was an otherwise convenient, very inexpensive place to stay in Wadi Mousa.
