Plantation Urban Resort & Spa

"The hotel I typically used in Phnom Penh was not available on my last visit and so I took a look at The Plantation, having heard good things from friends/family. So long as the pricing stays as competitive, I won't be using anywhere else in future. It was really hard to fault the place. Excellent, attentive staff. Great facilities. Choice of a few spots in which to eat, including by the beautiful pool area. The grounds were very quiet despite being right in the heart of the city. If I really had to pick faults, I'd say that a couple of items of furniture in the room were starting to look a little too well-used, but still a cut above other hotels in Phnom Penh. Will definitely be back."

The Bale Phnom Penh
Preaek Lieb,Phnom Penh - View on map
"We live right in the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh. Usually, to get away from the concrete jungle we would stay in sleepy Kep province. However, we only had one day to get away and we didn't want to spend or time away travelling, so we opted to stay somewhere close by. This hotel is close enough to the city that it is easily accessible, but it's also far enough away that we felt we were 'away' from the city. It was a great place to relax and recharge. The food here is some of the best I've eaten and the rooms were very large and clean. We stayed in the courtyard suite, The bathroom was luxurious and relaxing and we really liked the courtyard with sunbed. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others. "

Aquarius Hotel & Urban Resort

"The Aquarius was an oasis of calm in bustling Phnom Penh, just a newly opened hotel, still some work going on but it's out of the way of my room, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The highlight was the infinity rooftop pool which was gorgeous especially in the night time. The location is situated in the city’s’ main shopping and dining area at the street 240, with just a few minutes’ walk from Royal Palace, National Museum and Independence Monument. Staffs are very helpful and friendly. I will not be surprised if sooner it will become one of the famous hotel in Phnom Penh, definitely it's going to be a great hotel! Would certainly recommend this hotel."

Penh House Hotel

"A colonial house with 18 rooms. The decor was simple but pretty and gave me a cozy atmosphere. The location is also very good, situated at 244 st just next to 240st where nice cafe and boutiques are located, and also walking distance to palace and museum. I will definitely return if I ever come back to Phnom Penh."

Pavilion

"The hotel was great... it was an oasis in Phnom Penh. Walk distance from Royal Palace and National Museum. My plan included breakfast and a massage. The room was roomy with a shower booth and cute amenities.... also welcome fruits was included... in the classy European style atmosphere. Also the staff was so nice especially the staff at the entrance. They helped me a lot to get a ride (tuktuk or taxi). I would definitely come back to the hotel at my next visit to Phnom Penh... as long as they keep their facilities and service at this cost. "

Palace Gate Hotel & Residence
Sangkat Chakto Mukh,Phnom Penh - View on map
"Lovely modern interiors/exteriors but retaining a classical period charm with an indisputable French feel to the establishment. Rooms cater for longer term residents with kitchen/cooking facilities. Views sumptuous from balconies over Phnom Penh from a quiet and safe side street. Only minor quibble would be breakfast, lack of fruit varieties on offer (no mangos , papayas, bananas which are plentiful in Cambodia), and although attempting to cater for both Asians and Western tastes, the offering somehow didn't get it right either way as it was trying to please all tastes. Definitely a breakfast more geared up for European sensibilities - croissant, yoghurts, wheat cereal etc. Fried Rice and Egg noodles both disappointing. No evening restaurant service but plenty of choice in Phnom Penh and delivery to room feasible. Khmer staff extremely welcoming, courteous and friendly. Would stay again and recommend."

Orussey One Hotel & Apartment
Doun Penh,Phnom Penh - View on map
"Our first time in Phnom Penh, we were a little concerned driving through the back streets to our hotel. The Orussey One Hotel is a modern building in an older part of town. The facilities were excellent and WiFi was amazing. The staff couldn't do enough to help, and we quickly formed a bond with 3 lovely young staff members. Kim Lida, Naroth and Thong Sok Kin became our go-to people for information and assistance. We were lucky to meet them. The only downside was the out-sourced massage fro Rashana Massage. After travelling on planes, boats and buses for a few days, we treated ourselves to a massage. The ladies come to your room, which was fine. About 3/4 of the way through the massafe, both ladies went to the bathroom to wash their hands. The door closed and we just thought they needed to use the facilities. Unfortunately for us, they went through our toiletries bags and stole my perfume. We had locked everything else in the safe. Don't use this service!"

More about Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh is the capital city of Cambodia, and is quickly becoming a popular destination in Southeast Asia, especially among travelers who are interested in exploring the city’s haunting past, as well as its moving religious and historical sites.

The history of Phnom Penh is as old as it is rich. The name of the city comes from the name of a woman who found ancient Buddhist relics on a nearby hill, which then became the site of Wat Phnom, the most important temple in the area. This is a good place to begin a tour of the city center, which includes the regal Royal Palace and an impressive collection of French colonial architecture. Boutique hotels in Phnom Penh are on the rise, with many housed in these century-old colonial gems.

Going further out of the central area will lead tourists to somber sites related to Cambodia’s turbulent past, including the Killing Fields, Tol Sleng Detention Camp, and the Genocide Museum. The history of Cambodia is somberly displayed in these places, and while they’re not exciting vacation destinations, they are certainly worth seeing.

Under the Khmer Rouge, Phnom Penh was abandoned and fell into disrepair. Today, the city is enthusiastically repairing what once was lost, and staying in a centrally-located Phnom Penh hotel gives tourists the chance to experience this excitement firsthand. Phnom Penh is poised to someday become a leader in Southeast Asian tourism.

Phnom Penh is served by Phnom Penh International Airport, which is located just seven kilometers from the city center.
