Bopha Bassac Boutique Hotel

"First, staff was very friendly and helpful and attentive. Breakfast was good. Pool was small but clean. Hotel has no elevator., but only 3 stories. I’ve stayed in a sister hotel, same aspiring cool motif. The low rating is for the room. Nice large shower but only scalding hot water.. And no, not operator error, I’m a builder. Not surprised, I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels in Phnom Penh, and hot water delivery is always a systemic issue, too hot, not hot enough, too little pressure, no vent trap... clearly a lack of training of plumbers. A large room on the third floor, visually divided into a sitting room and bedroom. There was a single desk chair, a built in desk, a roll away clothes hanger and the bed shoved over in the corner. Against the wall. Clearly the room was set up to have a seating area and a clothes storage area, but the new owners had not purchased yet. Yet, the room was priced as if it was fully and appropriately furnished. This comment based on a dozen comps. "

"The Front office Manager and his 2 girls were extremely rude and showed no respect. My wife is still upset that we booked here. Will never stay here. The front office manager Vichuk should be fired along with the owner from Iran. Zero customer service even seeing us with toddlers. "

Lyve Inc Hotel

"We travel everywhere. And we travel a lot. I'm here to let you know that a) this hotel has everything you could possibly be searching for in Phnom Penh -- competent and caring staff, beautifully designed rooms, first class service, exceptional breakfasts, and a location that cannot be beat. I have to file this disclaimer: The hotel did not -- I repeat. did not -- pay me to write this. We intend on returning to Phnom Penh. Any guesses as to where we're choosing to stay? "

The Bridge Club
Chamkar Morn,Phnom Penh - View on map
"An apartment complex with a hotel in it, The Bridge Club is brand new so still in excellent condition. With 2 swimming pools, a gym, cable TV, high-speed WiFi, king-sized bed, free drinkable water, it really can't be beaten for the price in Phnom Penh. I stayed here 10 days and had a wonderful time. It's a short walk to the riverfront or Aeon Mall, but not in the heart of the bar district (but really, it's good to escape that craziness and have some peace). Oh, and the view from the room over the Mekong River is the BEST VIEW IN PHNOM PENH! Highly recommend."

The Bale Phnom Penh
Preaek Lieb,Phnom Penh - View on map
"We live in Phnom Penh but my boyfriend and I decided to get away from the crazy city for the weekend and found this gem. It is way out of the city and by the river so it is beautiful and very quiet. The grounds are immaculate and the room spacious, luxurious and well designed. We chose the ground floor suite facing the river and it was well worth it as we had a private jacuzzi - although not warm at all, and a private bit of garden overlooking the river). We had lunch there and I must say, the poolside food was very disappointing. We ordered the burgers and it was a big let down that we didn't even finish it. The next lunch day though, they redeemed themselves. We had the tuna tartare and it was a big hit. Absolutely delicious. For dinner, we decided to order room service and eat in our garden and the Cambodian food was to die for. Compliments to the chef. All in all, it was a really great stay, with great views, amazing grounds, nice and professional staff. Although, if you are looking for a quiet place to relax, keep in mind that people that are not staying at the hotel can still come and use the pool if they buy lunch or drinks so it wasn't ideal when 2 families and their 7 kids were there, monopolising the pool and being super loud. Lucky enough, when I asked one of the staff to have a word with them, it was quiet after that."

Aquarius Hotel & Urban Resort
Sangkat Chakto Mukh,Phnom Penh - View on map
"The Aquarius was an oasis of calm in bustling Phnom Penh, just a newly opened hotel, still some work going on but it's out of the way of my room, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The highlight was the infinity rooftop pool which was gorgeous especially in the night time. The location is situated in the city’s’ main shopping and dining area at the street 240, with just a few minutes’ walk from Royal Palace, National Museum and Independence Monument. Staffs are very helpful and friendly. I will not be surprised if sooner it will become one of the famous hotel in Phnom Penh, definitely it's going to be a great hotel! Would certainly recommend this hotel."

"Great hotel! Very clean! The view is amazing. Staff very professional. Excellent breakfast. Pool very nice. Best hotel I’ve stayed in Phnom Penh by far. There is a 50$ cash deposit which is not indicated in the booking - should be part of the description. I have no problem paying it but they requested the money without explanation. Had to ask a few questions before understanding what it was for - they do give you a receipt. I would highly recommend this place."

"I’ve been in more than 10 different hotels in Phnom Penh and this is the best one, for me and for my family (I came with my wife and my 2 years old baby) the top ten hotel. There’s nothing to regret, and for those who talk about problems here, they should talk with the recepcion because they’re really fast and 100% problem solving. I booked the family room, it’s amazing, it’s like my own house, with the kitchen, the sofa, paceful, much light, good air conditioner and nice bathroom. But the best of all here is the awesome and magnificent attention of all the staff, everyone speaks english, all of them understand us and treat us pretty nice, but in special and due her comely, fair and lovely attention Lun Srey Pech, who was every day in the breakfast time playing with my kid and attending us really well. I will come back here again for sure during my next visits to Phnom Pehn for sure. Thank you!"

More about Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh is the capital city of Cambodia, and is quickly becoming a popular destination in Southeast Asia, especially among travelers who are interested in exploring the city’s haunting past, as well as its moving religious and historical sites.

The history of Phnom Penh is as old as it is rich. The name of the city comes from the name of a woman who found ancient Buddhist relics on a nearby hill, which then became the site of Wat Phnom, the most important temple in the area. This is a good place to begin a tour of the city center, which includes the regal Royal Palace and an impressive collection of French colonial architecture. Boutique hotels in Phnom Penh are on the rise, with many housed in these century-old colonial gems.

Going further out of the central area will lead tourists to somber sites related to Cambodia’s turbulent past, including the Killing Fields, Tol Sleng Detention Camp, and the Genocide Museum. The history of Cambodia is somberly displayed in these places, and while they’re not exciting vacation destinations, they are certainly worth seeing.

Under the Khmer Rouge, Phnom Penh was abandoned and fell into disrepair. Today, the city is enthusiastically repairing what once was lost, and staying in a centrally-located Phnom Penh hotel gives tourists the chance to experience this excitement firsthand. Phnom Penh is poised to someday become a leader in Southeast Asian tourism.

Phnom Penh is served by Phnom Penh International Airport, which is located just seven kilometers from the city center.
