Andamantra Resort and Villa Phuket (SHA Plus+)
Patong,Phuket - View on map
"We were only in Phuket for less than 24 hours, and decided on this large resort. We were happy to get into our room early, relax by the pool, and explore Patong Beach. The staff was so friendly, and the rooms were simple and comfortable, but the best part was the view!! We did not expect to have a full on view of the ocean, so it was a lovely surprise to see a balcony with a beautiful view of Patong Beach. We saw the most gorgeous sunset in Thailand from this balcony!! I absolutely loved the 2 pools (one with a waterslide), but the infinity pool is the real winner. With a swim up bar, and amazing views, it's the real star of this resort. I spent hours there in my less than 24 hour visit to Phuket, and don't regret it a minute! (Additional perk was that we had breakfast included, but were leaving around 6:30am, so they packed us our breakfast to go!). For a short stay, this is great!"

Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket Hotel (SHA Plus+)
Bang Thao,Phuket - View on map
"This was my first visit to Phuket although I have a home in Thailand and am a regular visitor to other parts of the kingdom. I wanted a hotel away from the masses but, at the same time, we wanted somewhere near to "civilisation" for my visiting teenage children. This hotel fitted the bill perfectly. We priced up the cost of getting a limo from the hotel (1350 baht) against a taxi meter (350-500 baht) having read the reviews so it was a no brainer. The taxi meter stand is on the right on leaving Phuket airport. The hotels location is in the Laguna complex which houses 5 or 6 major hotels. Access to other hotels is via ferries or shuttle buses so transportation within the resorts is easy if you fancy a change of scenery. Outside of the complex are a number of restaurants, shops, spas and bars but it is no Patong Beach (although nor is it typically Thai). We booked Club Rooms which were spacious and fairly luxurious. A Club Room gives you breakfast, complimentary soft drinks from the mini bar as well as extras such as free cocktails at the bar between 6PM and 7PM. This proved a bonus and actually ended up saving us money so well worth it. On reading previous reviews, I noted comments about the price of food in the restaurants but, frankly, I feel that it is unrealistic to compare the prices in the hotels restaurants against, say, a restaurant in downtown Phuket. Its a bit like comparing prices for a meal in Southend to a meal in the Dorchester (sorry for non Brits reading that). You have booked into a quality resort so you expect to pay over the odds and I did not feel ripped off at paying less than £100 for 4 people to have a 3 course meal with wine and drinks in either the Italian (which by Thai standards was excellent) or the Thai restaurant. Overall a wonderful experience "

Palmyra Patong Resort (SHA Plus+)
Patong,Phuket - View on map
"this 3 star hotel gave us great pleasure when visiting phuket, very good location, you can walk to patong beach like 5-6 mins, and lots of local restaurants nearby, very cheap but the seafood is well cooked. the swimming pool is the highlight of the hotel, very nice to stay even for the whole afternoon, service is ok, and breakfast is good. generally speaking this is value for money, maybe not the best choice of phuket in general, but a really good one."

Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort and Spa
Koh Yao Yai,Phuket - View on map
"We were welcomed by Viren and the rest of the staff. They made us feel very special and welcoming. The resort is out of this world. It is amazing. When it is finished it will be 7 stars. We were really lucky VIren gave us villa 1103 it's on the the highest point meaning extra privacy. My husband could sunbed nude on our private lounge area next to our private infinity pool. Yes private infinity pool overlooking the clearest water in Thailand. On the other side all you see is a natural tropical forest. It truly is a special place. The food was good, the best part was the breakfast. Simply divine and overlooking the beach what more could you ask for. Staff were always attentive and friendly. The manager of the resort introduced himself to us. And treated m husband to another cocktail because they used the wrong sugar in the first one. We were not omplaining the first cocktail was perfect but the manager wanted it to be right. So they go out of their way to help and make yor stay special . Happy hour was cheap and you can actually taste the ingredients and the alcohol. Another highlight was the spa. They have spa happy hour. Who is not going to take that up. My husband and I booked foot massages during happy hour we got free back massages. I was in heaven my therapist Sao was just wonderful, Andy had Pa or was it Sa, not sure of the name. But they really looked after us. I can not fault it. I would love to return in a couple of years when the deluxe suits are finished. Which leaves me to wonder how amazing they will be because the suits there now are out of this world. Perfect for romance. I miss it there. Forever in my thoughts. Only two cons, the hotel transfer only happens twice a day, that's not good enough. Also it is pricey, cheaper if you take the hotel transfer too. Second thing, Tiny lizards also love the villas. They are harmless and the resort is next to a tropical forest so it is expected I just hate them. My husband on the other hand loved them. "

The Nai Harn (SHA Plus+)
Naiharn,Phuket - View on map
"This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this hotel, and it is very reasonably priced for the 5 star service you receive. The gardens are beautiful, stunning location , and the layout and design of the hotel is superb. This is not a new hotel but it has a wonderful relaxed feeling. Great to be away from all the other hotels in Phuket. Great beach, and fantastic local beach restaurants. Local taxis, will take you to Phuket town and Patong if you want shopping and nightlife. Some local shops. I love staying at this hotel , and as another lone traveller said to me "this place is something else"."

Banyan Tree Phuket (SHA Plus+)
Bang Thao,Phuket - View on map
"banyan tree phuket is a super high-end resort that provided us a luxurious, very comfortable and tranquil stay with excellent service. the staff was always very attentive and helpful, providing directions to local conveniences, booking and communicating with the taxi cab drivers. we had a wonderful experience here on our honeymoon and really enjoyed our relaxing stay. the rooms are gorgeous and very comfortable, with a private jacuzzi/hot tub in the backyard. the facilities were very clean, the pool was terrific and the resort itself very scenic, with a private beach. staff cleaned our rooms twice a day and we received a 2 for 1 special at the spa. the spa treatment was much more expensive than most of phuket but by american standards, fairly priced for great service received. breakfast buffet was amazing, with all sorts of local and fresh thai foods, vegetables, fruits and juices. despite being a little far (25-30 minutes from the airport by taxi and 45 minutes from patong), we highly recommend banyan to any honeymooners or couples looking for a romantic get-away, nested away from hectic tourist areas but close enough where you still get that exposure. just note that phuket is twice as pricey as other cities so this will not be the cheap thailand getaway you usually hear about."

Crest Resort & Pool Villas (SHA Plus+)
Patong,Phuket - View on map
"When we drove up to this resort, I was thinking wow this is an amazing property, wish it's where we are staying. Then I saw the sign and we all got excited. It has some serious curb appeal. We drove up, parked our car and saw a lot of construction still going on. Security called for 2 golf carts to come down and pick up our luggage and the 3 of us. We took a steep and dangerous ride, passengers in the back need to hang on for dear life. The reception desk is located outdoors under some of the architecture. A pool wraps around the front of some of the pool access rooms. It's beautiful, but in an Ikea sort of way. Our room, the sea view room, while somewhat stylish looks great with a wonderful view but that's just the surface. If you stay in the room, you will find that there's only about 2 outlets inside and 1 outlet on the balcony. The wifi signal was a bit weak but I speedtested it and it measured in at 5Mb up and down. The finishes in the room are pretty low quality but I've found that with a lot of Phuket hotels. The restroom facilities are bad as they give you pretty much no privacy. I wouldn't recommend it for a family stay. With only 2 outlets, you have to plug in the hair dryer outside of the restroom area. The doors are glass and frosted in some parts but lend very little privacy. The toilet room is separated from the shower but the door only goes part way up letting every little noise you make out into the living space. Water pressure was low on the rainfall showerhead. The bathroom counter hardly had any usable space, you better learn to live tight. Beds are super firm. There wasn't much consideration with regard to safety so you better watch your kids. The ride up to the property was dangerous as is the property itself. Every doorway has a ledge so the moment you step out, you are falling down and you can really hurt yourself if you're not careful. The pool is amazing, views of 2 beaches and it has a bar area. Some rooms will have pool access at thei"

Angsana Laguna Phuket Hotel (SHA Plus+)
Bang Thao,Phuket - View on map
"I took a mid night flight from Hong Kong to Phuket, and I was going to participate a wedding ceremony held in Angsana Laguna Phuket Hotel on the next day evening. I requested late check in and late check out when I book the room 3 weeks before my arrival to hotel. I even sent request to the hotel through its online chatroom on their website. I receive no reply or any confirmation about the special request even till I check in at hotel. I only found that in my order, there was stated special request as Late Check in & Late check out, but the receptionist couldn't confirm it. The receptionist asked me to confirm it on the next day before the normal check out time. I was there at 03ish, I was so exhausted, I would like to have a rest till the late minutes before check out. I worried about any extra charge for the late check out. After my request of re-confirmation at the reception, finally the staff kindly offer me a late check out at 1400 on the next day. Staff are nice anyway. The hotel is beautiful, i love the poolside restaurant much. I would come again for my vacation later."

Sri Panwa Phuket Luxury Pool Villa Hotel (SHA Plus+)
Panwa Cape,Phuket - View on map
"Where to start? First and foremost the team was amazing. Helpful, friendly and took care of our every need from transport from in-resort tuktuk to check out We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights in a Pool Suite. The view was incredible! Best ever. Baba nest has the best view in Phuket period. DO reserve in advance though - was not informed of this by the hotel management until we arrived and they told us that it was fully booked for the entire time we were there (would've been nice if was informed beforehand) Food was also incredible at BABA SOUL FOOD - ate there 3 nights in a row! The chef there is really talented. Avoid Baba Chino though - took expensive and mediocre taste. Good job Sri Panwa team! Best villa experience ever. (We have stayed at The Shore Katathani before and this place beats that place flat) A must stay, worth every freakin baht. Oh and FREE MINIBAR WITH FREE BEER !(never heard of this before) --> amazing "

More about Phuket

Being one of Thailand's most famous islands, Phuket is positioned off the southern coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea, featuring the golden sands, calm blue waters, and coconut palms associated with the perfect tropical vacation. Phuket Town is the island's main commercial area, and accommodation in the city center is cheap.

Phuket's most popular resort area is Patong. Fully redeveloped after the 2004 tsunami, Patong's main roads are lined with restaurants, shops, and countless bars and clubs. The nightlife here is legendary in Asia, and many book a hotel in Patong just to experience its lively after-hours scene.

South of Patong Beach is Karon Beach – a much quieter town with shops, restaurants, and bars that cater specifically to tourists. Kamala also offers a good range of accommodation and infrastructure with resorts becoming progressively more upscale towards Bang Thao, Surin, and Pansea beaches.

On the other side of the Phuket lay the islands of Koh Yao Yai, Koh Yao Noi, and Nakha Yai. Resorts on these islands assure secluded beaches and high levels of service.

Phuket is served by Phuket International Airport, about a 45-minute drive from Patong Beach and Phuket Town.
