We stayed at the hotel one night to see the local attraction - the bathing elephants from the orphanage. This proved to be a very good decision - to visit the orphanage you need to buy pretty expensive tickets (20 USD per person), and they ask for the tickets even if you want to go to the riverside when the elephants are going there for bathing. Excellent hotel our best stay in Sri Lanka so far. Great location to interact with the many elephants of Pinnawala - better than the orphanage or Millennium. Not a great location for day trips to sightsee in Kandy as traffic makes the commute take hours. Well worth an overnight stay particularly if you enjoy watching elephants.
This hotel is located opposite the Elephant Orphange access is from a hidden road behind. Four times a day about 20 elephants walk pas the hotel going to the river or coming back. This can be seen from some rooms and from the terrace of the restaurant or hotel cafe. Perfectly located in the town of Pinnawala.
The location of the hotel is simply awesome! It's practically next to the river where the elephants from the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage come to bathe everyday 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm. We walked down to the river and was able to have very close encounters with the lovely creatures. The service is good too but no hair-dryer, no kettle, and only one towel was provid...
I stayed a total of three nights here in Pinnawala and I have to say the delicious breakfasts of coconut sambal, string hoppers, curries, fresh bread and coffee with generous portions were amazing and motivated me to extend my stay. the staff was very friendly, remembering my name on the second day. rooms were clean with new linens. overall an excellent value.
We liked the place and it's probably the best in the area. Service is great however the food falls short of expectation. I think it's slightly overpriced for the location.

This hotel is a mess - there were no ensuite bathroom facilities and 4 rooms had to share one bathroom. There were not towels, toiletries or tea/coffee service. We had to very firmly ask for morning tea which took ages to be made before we left for our program each day. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
