Bodhi Suites Boutique Hotel and Spa
Phewa Lake,Pokhara - View on map
"The hotel decor, staff and facilities are ok but the rooms need to be improved. We have stayed here two times now both times the wifi in our room didn’t work at all, second time we asked to change. When the wifi does work it’s very unreliable. Both times we stayed here the shower in the room was broken so end up having to use the tap set instead of the shower head which either doesn’t stay on or sprays everywhere. There is a constant banging sound coming from somewhere in the building which you can hear all night. Very annoying. Pool is ok, restaurant was too but will stay somewhere else next time. This is our second trip to Pokhara and wish we stayed somewhere better."

Hotel City Inn
Phewa Lake,Pokhara - View on map
"This is the second time I have stayed here (first time December 2015). For about $19/night (a bit less if you just show up and can bargain well), the City Inn is fine value. Water pressure (in early November when I stayed for three nights) is excellent; hot water = excellent. They have a generator so during critical hours (6am to 9am and 5pm to 8pm), you will have electricity even if there is a power cut in Pokhara sector. Breakfast (included in price) is the usual omelette, trekker potatoes (oily as they are everywhere)...coffee, toast and juice. TV works great (can get CNN and BBC). Reception of WiFi is just ok - when too many people stay here the reception is very slow with frequent line drops - but this happens everywhere in Nepal. They do have their router powered by a generator so even when there is a power cut in Pokhara sector, you can log on. Overall, you can find less expensive in Pokhara (about $10 is the cheapest single room in town), but if your budget allows, the extra money is well spent here. As others mention, the view from the higher floors is great! And not to forget Khem and his staff who are patient, professional and will run to do anything (within reason) for a guest. Khem looks over this hotel (and the other across the street - he manages very well). If any problem, go see Khem - he will sort it out...Overall, I like Khem a lot; and city Hotel is about the best of the mid-range hotels in town. Highly recommended."

Waterfront Resort by KGH Group
Phewa Lake,Pokhara - View on map
"This newly built hotel in Pokhara is part of the KBH hotel chain. The location of this hotel is out of Pokhara resort being further along the lake and so it is very peaceful. The walk into the resort is a 15 minutes stroll along a rough potholed road but is not lit part way at night. It is very muddy in the monsoon season. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. We found all staff attentive and helpful. Charges for internet reasonable, though many other hotels offers this service free of charge. "

Traveler impressions of Pokhara

More about Pokhara

The city of Pokhara is one of Nepal’s largest cities, located in the Gandaki Zone and serving as an important starting point for those visiting Annapurna. As Annapurna is an extremely popular destination for mountain trekkers around the world, Pokhara sees a large number of visitors throughout the year.

Pokhara is about 200 kilometers from Kathmandu, so access into the city is fairly easy. There are regular buses that make the journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara regularly, and the city is also served by Pokhara Airport.

Pokhara’s perfect location makes it very rich with viewpoints and trekking destinations. However, there are also places in this city with intense religious and cultural significance. One such place is the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, which is home to a revered statue of the Hindu god Shiva within the depths of the cave. The proximity to a nearby waterfall makes this experience even more stunning as one can follow the path to a waterfall after exploring the cave.

For those who are interested in doing more than trekking along stunning trails while in Pokhara, a visit to the Tashi Ling Tibetan Village might offer a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn about the culture and some history of the Tibetan people. While this village is a little bit out of the way and worlds away in culture, there are still some hotels and dining venues in the area for those who might choose to stay more than an afternoon.

There’s much more to see and experience in Pokhara, and the interactive map on this page is a great way to find out where the attractions and hotels can be found in this amazing city.
