Traveler impressions of Prachinburi

More about Prachinburi

This provincial capital of southern Thailand’s agricultural area is most popular as the gateway to Khao Yai National Park, as well as the border of Cambodia. This city is easily accessible by bus or car from Bangkok, being only a few hours away.

History buffs, especially those focused on the political and cultural history of Thailand, will have a great deal to see in this city. One great destination for seeing a large collection of artifacts and exhibits dating back to about 800 years ago is the Prachin Buri National Museum. The surrounding cities in this area have archaeological and architectural evidence dating back to the Dvaravati era all the way to the present.

Being a riverside town, it’s easy to see the important role the Lam Takhong River plays in the culture and mood of this city. A great way to spend a day would be a walk around the river, taking part in the small community of shops and street food vendors while observing the relaxed way of life. The city center is very well laid out, so even if staying in the city center, getting around is most enjoyable if done on foot.

There’s a lot more to see and do in Prachinburi, and the best way to discover what else this city has to offer in terms of attractions, landmarks, and hotels is by exploring the interactive map on this page.
