the foods are nice (sroto, tempe mendoan), but there is only Baturraden, the place to visit. For Catholic people, Gua Maria Kaliori would be the best place to visit as the place is so calm, about 30-mins drive from the city.

Purwokerto is a medium-sized town located at Indonesia Route 3 (better known as the Jalur Selatan) near the border of West Java & Central Java.
You can still see old-fashioned shops lining up Jl Jendral Soedirman, the main hub of the city. Just 2 blocks north of this main hub lies the restaurant row with new, mainstream restaurant line up the streets. The streets started to get quiet after 7 PM. One of my best finds on this trip was the Toko Roti Go, an old-fashioned bakery that was established in 1898 and still serves the traditional breads & cakes that dated back to the last century :)
