An old seafaring town has been reborn over the last decade. The streetscapes are very historic and the ocean is a quick walk away.
The town has been a favoured destination for day trippers in the past and has developed a range of services to encourage overnight stays. There is a golf course across a quaint bridge, a very attractive and busy marina and great walks alng the beach, down the piers and into the hinterland. Queenscliff is one end of the car ferry link with Sorrento. Around the ferry terminal there has been a great deal of development - including an upgrade to the Maritime Museum, dive and bay snorkelling charters from the marina, quality shopping and restaurants on the marina site. Queenscliff is redefining itself: not just an historic town with tours of the fort but a vibrant water activity centre.
