Having booked my self into a 4 star beach resort for a few days to only find out that it was a dump and no were near a beach just a dirty noisy river. I was extremely relieved to move and spend the rest of my trip at the hidden resort. It definitely was more than I expected and I would highly recommend it. I can honestly say it has to be the best hotel in Ranong. It i...

we booked for 1 night but we stayed finally 10 days in this beautiful resort. very clean and beautiful rooms with good bed and pillows. great shower! seeview almost everywhere. very romantic seeview rooms and suites. the restaurant is beautiful and the food is great. the staff is extremly polite, nice and qualifite although their english skills are not the best. i ...

I was very impressed upon arrival. We arrived after a long day. The sweet woman at reception was so kind and helpful in getting us settled in and making us feel at home. The lobby area is beautiful and there is a small cafe with a sitting area where you can relax. The sweet staff at the front desk inquired about our plans. I am glad she did because she helped coord...

I've heard many of the hotels in Ranong aren't as they are described. So our expectations weren't too high. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Cool hotel, nicely designed, functional rooms, decent restaurant and EXCELLENT value. A few reviews we read criticized the breakfast, yes it was simple but totally adequate. Travellers who are expecting more really need to t...

From what I survey in Ranong, probably the best choice for resort/hotel. Very nice design and garden style. Open air area. I read some negative comments about "small" swimming pool. Well, yes it is not an Olympic size swimming pool but definitely more than enough, unless u wanna play water polo with 20 people ;-) I was happy with it Staff is kind and wanna help, even ...

Looking for a budget hotel in Ranong for few days as we planned to make few day trips in Myanmar islands, we decided to book 2 nights only in Rueangrat hotel and once there decide if the hotel is ok. We then booked another 3 nights! The hotel is a budget hotel, so don't expect all facilities of a 5 stars but for the price, it provide all you need during your stay. The...

It’s been our first time in Ranong. We flew from Bangkok and rented a car from Ranong airport. The hotel is located in city center and close to tourist attractions. It took only 25 minutes driving from the airport. The hotel’s staff was soooo lovely and friendly. I stayed in Tripple room for 2 nights and it was value-for-money. What I loved the most is breakfast ...

We arrived in Ranong after a 90 mins Nok Air flight. We stayed one night in Nailin Place. We got the 09-30 slow boat for 200 Bht each. The boat dropped us at the edge of the sea by Cashew Resort. Reception was rapid and efficient. Our chalet/hut was lovely. The restaurant was cheaper than most of Bangkok. The food was well cooked. Electricity was on from, about 18-00 un...

We did not know what to expect from this property as we booked while driving to Ranong Thailand. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find a contemporary facility with a great pool, cafe and restaurant. The restaurant was innovative and we were surprised to see there was also a Korean menu from which we ordered. The food was stunning! The waiting staff were...

The rooms here are great. Absolutely spotless, with comfortable beds, and good aircon and a great vier on the national park in this resorts backyard. We all had a good bight's sleep here. The owner is a wonderful lady who runs the resort herself. She cooked our breakfast in the morning, though my booking website didn't indicate it was included. The breakfast was absol...

We arrived at 9 a.m. to see if they would allow us to store our luggage there until it was time to check in. We had taken the overnight bus to get there and were so tired that we just wanted to dump our bags somewhere so we could go eat. There was a wonderful young man working the front desk who spoke very good English and he informed us that the rooms had all been cle...

We stayed at the Nalin place for a stopover to Ko Phayam, the staff is friendly and you can buy your speedboat ticket at the reception desk. The market with lots of typical Thai kitchen is just around the corner. We can recommend this place. You should book a room with airconditon because it's quiet hot in Ranong.

Free kayaking, clean rooms, riverviews. I hired a scooter so can easily travel arong ranong, though it is 300 baht from this hotel... im used to 200 to 250. I went out at night to get something.. i noticed something moving very slowly among the power lines. I beleive it was a type of lemur or slough. We tried searching for more but could find any but it was an amazing...

my husband and i arrived around 9 pm after a long, trying day of travel from ko lanta. staff opened the kitchen for us, made us a delicious dinner, brought our (included) breakfast to our room in the morning, drove us to the pier for our visa run (this is not the backpacker visa run, this is the andaman resort visa run, but it's very smooth and straightforward and the ...

I thought i would never write a real negative review. However, here it is unfortunately. The information about the rooms is very different then what you get in reality. So are the pictures. I traveled there and stayed at Les Robinson for 2 nights. The location is very scenic. The best feature of this place for me was the hospitality of P. Koong, the owner. I have been living and working in Thailand for six years and I can claim she is a unique case regarding hospitality and being service minded. We arrived in Ranong in morning, about 7 am andthe checkin ...

The rooms weren't very clean. We requested for twin beds, but was not arranged. The resort really old and run down. The location is far from Ranong town and other attractions. However for the money we paid, it was well worth. So if you are looking for inexpensive room, this may be good choice. Otherwise there are better choices.

our stay at the hotel was for an in between time before we went to one of the local islands. the rooms are well built and quite clean. orginally we were told we were going to be getting a fan room and when we arrived we were given a room with a/c! the purple room was great. our first time we took a taxi out we did it through the drowsy rabbit looking front desk guy ...

Just doing a visa run to Myanmar, very friendly and informative staff , if I knew then what I know now wouldn’t have bothered staying in Ranong but did and this place was perfect for that , cheap enough, night life 2 mins walk but not disturbed at hotel , not much in the way of amenities in room but not a real problem, good for price and really friendly management/ fam...

This is one of these typical hotels built 30-50 years ago that you can still find throughout the whole Thailand. Most of them have a special character but a bit worn. Unlike them, this one is not worn and still reserves the charm of an old school thai hotel. The rooms are partly renovated, very clean, tidy and cosy. It's very pleasant to stay there. As the hotel...

A pleasant surprise even if it is quite a way out of Ranong. Comfy room and nice little garden set up. Slightly dubious breakfast (ok, but not for me..) - to be fair a good place for a one night stop over before heading out of Ranong (which is pretty much why you are in Ranong in the first place!)

I love Koh Chang Resort!! They have the best view at the big balcony and inside the room. From the balcony you can see the gorgeous view of the sky and the sea. It's the best beach front I have ever been to. The staff are very nice and friendly. They let me checked in as soon as I got to the resort and let me stayed til 4pm so I could spend more time there and catch th...

We, my wife and I, a seasoned traveling couple from Switzerland, spent three nights before embarking on a Diving Safari (see Aladdin Divers Ranong) and one night after returning from the boat journey. Lovely owners, the wife is a perfect cook! The family dinner in the evening is so delicious and a good way to meet the others clients. Sangsurre is quite far from everything, you need to like walking and because of the tides it's not the best place to swimm. But the ambiance is so,so cool , peaceful and quiet, we would come again.

We booked this hotel in 15 minutes before arrival and all was ok, but it was the first hotel in our practice that asked for passports of all visitors and they made the copy of passports and visas. Location is near the center so it didn't take long to get to the street with all cafes and shops. Territory of the hotel nice, lot of plans. WC and shower was outside of our ...

Hotel is very clean and staff friendly . Rooms are large, clean bathroom with a separate laundry. The downside is that the hotel is on a busy road to the port and one of its neighbours is a metal fabricator ( generating some noise) . The hotel fills up pretty quickly, mostly with Thai guests. p Better rooms are at the rear of the hotel ( away from road) . Local rest...

We arrived 2 hours before check-in but were shown straight to our villa. The room was spotlessly clean with a lovely big bed, private garden and small swimming pool. There's not a whole lot to do there if you go during a dry spell, which we did. We visited several waterfalls, pretty much nothing there and just a trickle coming down.
local place, a good place if u want to explore real thailand. city is value for money, no tourist prices.
NOTHING, just a place where you come to sleep for a night, so you can catch the speed bpat or ferry n the early morning, to travel to your Island destination.
a very peaceful city 5 hours from Phuket. there's hot spring and mineral water which is very popular in Ranong
Ranong has grown so big now but still is a great city to visit. Hunt out some of the great Thai restaurants, there is a huge superb restaurant on Highway 4 going from the south just passing the town on the left, two together.
I was visit Koh Payam ranong which was nice trip. And also city tour, Rattanarangsan Palace & mineral hot spring.
Ranong is peaceful town, mix of nation, tasty food and beautiful nature. Good place for rest and nature lover.
We did the visa run over to the Andaman Club casino. This is one of the main reasons foreigners come to Ranong.
Lovely hot springs, beautiful mountains, access to beautiful islands, friendly population, few tourists.
Ranong has a friendly population, lovely hot springs, beautiful mountains and access to some beautiful islands
There is not much to do in Ranong than to enjoy the life people are living there. Hot springs, access to islands and very few tourists, which is why people are still very friendly.
I was in Ranong in June 2013. VERY WET! Literally rained the entire time. But I don't regret going. It's a more "small town" Thai experience and I'm so glad I got to witness that.
Not a come again town. Once you have done the town tour, it is similar to most other tahi townships.
Stayed in Ranong a day before going out to one of the local islands. Our Hostel was not too bad at all, and walking around is not too bad.
If you dicide to venture out for dinner, take a detailed map. The roads look the same at night and you don't want to spend an hour lost in Ranong like we did.
Ranong is a great stop for people who drive from Bangkok to Phuket. It's about halfway in between. Spend a night in Ranong, dip in the hot spring is a perfect relaxation!
I do not know why, but Ranong became one of the favorite destinations in Thailand. There is something spiritual.
