Can be done for a day trip but if you can do overnight stay go try the Night Watchman Tour and listen to great storytelling of this once forgotten medieval city which was revived only recently due to the Romantic movement.
Rothenburg is famous also for their Snow Balls and the Christmas Market so I suppose going here during that season would be amazing. Very small very quiet small village, out of the way but worth visiting if you have time in Germany. I fell in love with this place immediately and I recommend a visit at least once to experience an authentic old-world Germany.
The town is very small and can be explored in a few hours. Not much to do, a day trip should be sufficient, no need to spend the night.
very nice small town, complete surrounding wall, very romantic town to walk around, small nice shop all over the town, good restaurants
perfect place for sightseeing, roaming around and at the same time leisure time in between your tours to bigger and more buys cities.
Perfect place to rest and slow your pacing temporarily.
Beautiful, historical town in Bavaria that is painstakinly maintained. A little touristy, but worth a visit to explore on your own.
Several museums, get a guide from the tourist office. City offers good walking tours. Beautiful in the Fall, I would like to see it in the Winter
We took the Night Watchman 60min tour - it was great, just like all the reviews have said. Pefect for my 11 year old son and myself.
A lovely small city that's good for exploring it's history and culture. You can walk, bike, hike or shop!
It is an old town worth visiting. I enjoyed touring around the city wall & exploring parks, shops, people.
Spending some relaxing moments here instead of all the sight seeing activities.
