Salt Lake Plaza Hotel at Temple Square
Salt Lake City Center,Salt Lake City (UT) - View on map
"This hotel has the best location for Temple Square and downtown Salt Lake City. Parking appears part of the hotel site and the charge is $10 for a twenty four hour period. A rapid transit stop is in front of the hotel. Also, a restaurants is right next door so all your conveniences are in one place. Check in is simple and the staff are professional, helpful, and accommodating. We needed a late checkout (theirs is 11:00 am) and it was pleasantly provided. Everything you need in downtown Salt Lake is a short walking distance away so you can't go wrong by staying at this hotel. As a bonus, although the hotel has been around for a while, it is well maintained, many rooms have a nice view, and, above all, the rooms are clean. The price is also right for a downtown location. So, where else would you want to stay?"

"Booked a nonrefundable room and paid a month ahead via Agoda. After checked in, the counter locked our room key and claimed that my previous credit card is failed and needed to pay again by another card. The staff guarantee the previous card wasn't charged so I paid. After finishing the trip I found out the previous card was actually charged and same did another card. I called the hotel and they said it's Agoda's problem, they couldn't find any done payment from my reservation record. I called Agoda customer service, agoda said it's hotel's problem. I provided all the document needed to agoda ten days ago, still the payment haven't refunded. I called agoda again and their respond is "the hotel didn't pick up the phone nor respond our email" WHAT??!! Is that an answer to a customer???? Terrible experience! Terrible hotel and terrible Agoda customer service!!!!! "

"First, I had to call the hotel 4 different times to confirm late check-in. For some reason the front desk guy couldn't leave a note in my file; I had to call after shift change. When we went to bed that night, we couldn't get the heater to turn on, and the beds only had sheets. We looked for extra blankets in closets, but found nothing. We then called the front desk four times in the next 20 minutes, but no one ever answered. By then it was 1 am, so we put on our extra socks and sweatshirts and went to sleep. "

Metropolitan Inn
Salt Lake City Center,Salt Lake City (UT) - View on map
"The highly affordable price is icing on the cake for a hotel that is one of our favorite places to stay in SLC. We can always say we experienced the biggest earthquake that Utah has had in 28 years , enjoying the plush king size bed at the Metropolitan. Running out the door as fast as we could followed seconds later. We're still in the same room right now."

"Staff are always friendly and helpful. Rooms always clean. Location is great once you are there. Nothing fancy but very acceptable and always the best price. Note: Traffic into central SLC can be tricky - Google Maps does not provide the best directions to the hotel. Simple is better. "

More about Salt Lake City (UT)

The largest city in the state of Utah, Salt Lake City is a sprawling metropolis among mountains and the lake for which it’s named, a great balance of wild nature and a metropolitan city. Serving Salt Lake City and the rest of Utah, as well as Mexico and Canada, Salt Lake City International Airport is a busy travel hub.

Salt Lake City is most famous for being the home base of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as the Mormons. Because of the general public fascination with this group, it’s no wonder that Temple Square is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. Located right in the middle of the city center, Temple Square is home to iconic landmarks that are related to the Mormon faith, including the Tabernacle, home of the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. There are several opportunities for tours around this square, the perfect way to see some of the monuments and landmarks that are directly related to the history of the church in Salt Lake City.

Of course, outside of the city center is the Great Salt Lake State Park, where it is possible to explore the lake for which this city is named. The shallow and salty lake never freezes, even in the depths of winter, so boating and sailing tour groups operate out of there year-round. The area is one of the most beautiful in the state, the water sitting just below the vast skies, the stars uninterrupted by skyscrapers or pollution.
