I stayed in one of the suites on the top floor of this well-located hotel in the historical centre of Santa Marta. The room is beautiful with a very comfortable bed and a really cool shower cubicle that also serves as a sauna and hot tub. It could fit two people at most, but it is still a cool touch. Wifi works well throughout the hotel and the big screen TV in the room also had Netflix connected - always a nice perk. The included breakfast is tasty and can be delivered to the room if you choose. I was disappointed that I had emailed the property three times before I arrived regarding an early check-in and had not received a response. It would have enabled me to plan my arrival better - being out in the hot sun of the middle of the day is not ideal when keen to get into an air conditioned room. Note there are no common areas of the hotel that are air conditioned, the pool is pitiful (a small square plunge pool on the top floor with no atmosphere whatsoever and the small lobby pool was out of service). The staff service leaves a lot to be desired. Access to the hotel is via a locked gate but the room key does not open it nor is an entry code provided. On one occasion, I was waiting outside for a few minutes with no ability to communicate to anyone to say I was trying to get in. When I was waiting to check in, I went and sat on the terrace thinking it might be possible to get a drink. The only staff member was busy eating his lunch, which I actually thought was quite funny. In short, this is a beautiful hotel but don’t expect the service to match the high quality of the room.

the hotel is very well located, the rooms are clean and spacious enough. also the staff was really friendly. we stayed one night then left our luggage for a night to go to tayrona park and then came back for two nights. all was very well organised and they were happy to see us again, we felt welcomed. also there is a small pool on the rooftop. it was fun to just sit in there and watch the neighbours on their rooftops do their stuff.

We really enjoy our experience at Santa Marta Hostels, we were well received by the staff : They allows you to live a real good experience at Santa Marta. The hostel is close to the downtown and close to the main interest in the city. Hostels services : - Breakfast so delicious with a beautiful panorama in the front. - The wifi didn't work all the time, so it can be considerate as an inconvenient for peoples who need to work. - You can let your luggages at the reception and it easy after to plan your trip at Tayrona park.

Overall, we enjoyed Casa Mia, especially the friendly staff. The front desk was super helpful with everything we needed. The hotel is located close to a main area where there is lots of music and taxis constantly driving through, so noise was my biggest challenge. We didn’t really sleep well because of the noise (plus taxis just beep their horns all hours of the night), so if you’re looking for peace and quiet, you may want to find a hotel farther from the tourist areas of downtown Santa Marta.

Loved my short stay at casa Carolina. Very close to the hustle and bustle of Santa Marta. I prebooked my room in advance and was upgraded and checked in upon an earlier arrival Bc the upgraded room was available at that time. It was an amazing deluxe suite. Was welcomed with a fruity drink and put at ease. Lovely property, lovely staff. The breakfast is also very nice as well, Buffett with also made to order. Thank you Casa caroling. Will recommend you to everyone I know that goes to Santa Marta

It is tricky to find, remember the yellow door frame and you'll find it easily! The rooms are very nice. Beds are comfy and the AC is super good. Don't forget to tell the hostel your arrival time so the owner will wait for you. Just keep in touch one day before your arrival and everything is fine! Location is quiet and perfect. Close by is an exito supermarket and everything else is close. The roof top is very nice to relax in a hammock! Showers are not perfect and no hot water. But you don't need hot water here. The best hostel I've ever stayed in. The owner is a great man who speaks good English.

Perfectly located close to the shore, La Españolete is an adorable little hostel with one large dorm and I believe a single private room. The comon area is lovely with an open-air concept that will make you want to stay there all day basking in the breeze. The Homie Moses at front desk can help you with seemingly everything in the world, and speaks perfect English! Swell dude with an awesome, kind charisma.

Santa Marta was pretty dam warm and humid but the staff gave us an extra fan which was really helpful. The pool is a small plunge pool but we enjoyed it, great to cool off in the warm afternoons The food is good and they provide free coffee which is great Kitchen has everything you need, we cooked nearly every night while we were there Lots of nooks, hammocks etc. to sit and read I was watching a rugby match on my tablet which one of the staff noticed. First he gave be extra bandwidth to stream it and then he actually put it on the large television for me which was awesome Location is okay, about ten minutes from the main centre though I wasn't really overawed with Santa Martha itself, not much happening

We stayed here the night before and the night after our Cuidad Perdida trek. Comfortable, clean, secure room. Great breakfast before we started our hike. They even stowed our luggage while we were gone. The wifi didn't work so well when we returned and our room was the farthest from the office, so we had to way to post our pics from the trek. Super friendly, attentive staff. We'll be back next time we're in Santa Marta

We were very pleased with this property. Everything we had been told about it was right on. The pools were magnificent, service could not have been better, breakfasts were delicious and included in our room cost. Price for dinner buffet and poolside service was a little pricey. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. We enjoyed tennis and the gym too. The Travel Agent also guided us in the right direction for sightseeing in Santa Marta. Not a lot to do close by, but we were happy to take taxis to the shopping and sightseeing. We would definitely recommend this hotel for families and couples wanting a safe and quiet environment.

This hotel really is very nice, and the staff make it a very enjoyable stay. The staff are very friendly and very polite, with some speaking english. The food is great and not to expencive. I really like that they have several different location all within walking distance, With the hotel/resort, the boutique hotel, the beach club and the villas and then they also have there own little shopping centre with cheaper take away food options and other things. With the access to all the hotels come the choice of 4 different pools and different bars, views and restaurants, and all are staffed with extremely professional personal. The room was clean and large, with a king size bed and a nice bathroom. It was a pleasure to stay there and I recommend this hotel.

We were happy that we chose Taganga over other districts of Santa Marta. Shops are cheaper, the sea is in close proximity and its easy to access Tayrona park and beautiful beaches from there. However, you should be aware that it's a favourite place for hippies and young crowd that spend the whole night partying, drinking and smoking grass. If you look for a quiet place, you should not choose Taganga.

Great place to stay. I had the superior double ( the penthouse) and it was great. Huge comfortable bed, an excellent hammock and a big private terrace with a partial bay view and full mountain view. Taganga is noisy but this place is close to the center but quiet. Andres was such a great host and he helped me book some great tours. Super friendly, super nice. I had great conversations with him and his mom. Randy the dog was a nice pup. All and all the best place I stayed on my travels.

lovely little hostel, right on the beach with a beach bar/café alongside. Perfect for some R & R. I didn't want to be in the centre of Santa Marta so this suited me well. Transport into town was very easy & cheap on the local bus. Staff were very helpful in explaining how to do the trip to the Tayrona National Park. They also booked my onward transport. Use of the kitchen & fridge was extremely useful for me. A great stay & would come again.
