shanghai eventough is international city where are a lot of foreigner but the people can;t speak english especially the people in tourist attraction or shopping mall in expatriat area, how poor.
beside that shanghai environment so so dirty even there was a pee at the escalator subway station. no one clean the pee. o my gosh... and a lot of beggar inside subway station and people don't want to queque. really hate that behavior. still good beijing
Shanghai is Big City, My trip go to Shanghai and than go to Beijing, If I choice, I more choice Shanghai.
Special Nanjing Road and Yu Yuan Market, this is the best place for shopping, hand gift and eat.
Shanghai is busy place with so many people, yet you still feel safe even you walk at night. Due to short stay, unable to explore about Shanghai.
However, I really enjoy going to Yuyuan Garden, the Bund and walk along East Nianjing Road.
The rudest, most miserable people I have ever encountered in a long life of travelling. And lots of them! The very odd exception when a person was competent and just doing their job.
More than its share of petty hustlers. I will try to avoid it in future.
Its one of the most modern Chinese cities I have visited. It has a very elaborate and efficient metro system.
I stayed there for 3 days which I thought it was alot for a big city like Shanghai, there was not a lot to do in a short period of time but I think if I came here longer, I would go further to other places outside of Shanghai.
Shanghai is a big city with several types of transportation. Several sightseeing areas, however traffic is very jam during rush hours.
Metro very convenient with more than 20 lines. Buy 3 days unlimited Metro pass for tourists to travel around Shanghai in 72 hours.
A lot of attraction places. Night views are awesome from the Bund of Shanghai.
shopping, dining, barhopping are all very good here in Shanghai. there are also some sightseeing spots.
However, it is not easy getting around town. Taxi drivers are very unfriendly and often ignore you even when you are frantically waving to them. Metro stations reach a lot of places in town but it is quite crowded and you need to know your way around and to push your way in the trains. Buses are even harder if you don't know Chinese. I recommend Uber if you are in Shanghai.
THE PRICES HERE ARE LITTLE EXPENSIVE. IF YOU WANT SHOPPING GO TO GUANGZHOU CHEAPER AND MORE CHOICES. NICE TOURIST SPOT AND PEKING DUCK
I almost fell in love with Shanghai, but prefer Bangkok as air is better and less expensive in Bangkok.
Food is easy to find in Shanghai at many various prices some too fancy and some too cheap, but easy to find a variety that suits all. Go to the French Quarters behind the Grand Plaza, great hang out place with a lot of eateries and some music bars.
Shanghai is a nice city with a lot of delicious food. You can eat different kinds of Chinese food here, like dumpling, roast duck etc.
I would recommend more that 5 days stay. Hope that staff would be accommodating to assist me to extend stay by checking the airline office for my extension, if my booking the hotel rooms need to be extended.
I am unable to travel to Hangzhou or Nanjing for a day tour though I completed my tour only in the city, I would want to travel to other province by expressed bus so that I need not come the 2nd time for sightseeing again in Shanghai.
TRY THE LOCAL STREET FOOD AND YOU CAN FIND THE HUGE GAP BETWEEN NORMAL PEOPLE TO SUPER WEALTHY PEOPLE LIFESTYLE.
YOU MAY FIND SOME BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY THERE.
very polluted. people are very rude and they force people to buy stuff. and they are very well known for seling fake stuff
Shanghai is a big, well-developed city. It has tons of shopping malls, so those who have some money to spare and love to shop would love this city.
However, be careful when crossing the road or even when walking along the pedestrian's path. The traffic is terrible and it could be pretty dangerous because cars/bikes don't stop just because the traffic light is red.
I love Shanghai as i have many local friends here who are the reasons why i keep coming back to this wonderful city
I lived and worked in Shanghai for 6 months in 2010-2011. My comments are primarily based on an 8 day visit in 2015 re hotel etc.
Shanghai is my favourite city after London and Paris. The market in the old town is excellent, and of course there is the Bund area just over the river Pudong. If you take the subway line 2 to Lujiazui Road, view the Oriental Pearl Tower and the 3 sky scrapers, there is a huge Mall there too. Then walk down by the river and take a ferry across to the Market and Old City, then follow the river North to the Bund you can fill a whole day! You need another day for the museums too! Lots of information about activities in the Shanghai Daily newspaper, only 2 RMB. Enjoy!
Amazing place unlike any other city in the world. Even if you hate it or love it, you've gotta see it just for the experience.
the city in Asia at this moment. Problem is the ONLY MONEY COUNTS ''high nose'' attitude of these inhabitants of Shanghai- most of whom were born elsewhere in China and think that they are something better then the rest of this world.
if you want to start a business in Shanghai please remember that you can count on a high FLUCTUATION rate , ever increasing costs and the unreliability of having people who are interested to work long term for you. The main interest of the Chinese staff is to get THE MOST MONEY and KNOW HOW out of you as fast as they can and then move to another company or open their own company.
Nice night view. Ppl here are more polite and discipline compare to Shenzhen more cleanliness city than a lot of china area.
Very cosmopolitan and developed city. Lots of things to do, like shop and dine out. Has many buildings and malls.
Only problem is people sometimes not too friendly. Shanghai is urban, if you want more traditional China, Beijing is for you.
It is a vibrant city that is active day and night. The new architecture and the night lighting effects are very impressive.
It has the contrasts of the old and new blending together.
very modern city growing by the minute, go to Beijing to see the history, go to Shanghai to see modern China, make sure you visit the bund at night to see the lights over the river at Pudong
This is one of China's world cities and a great place to visit. Whatever your objectives are you will find something of interest here.
Just look on the internet.
I ran a boarding school for many years in Shanghai and it is my Paris. I love it. I love the people. I love the food.
I love the shopping. Now that I live in America again, I try to go back every year to shop and get clothes made. There are tailors everywhere there - some good, some bad. I have found my own tailor and he makes me really awesome velvet suits. I have 4 now along with some linen suits that he has made. Shanghai is a must see for every traveler.
Shanghai is one of modern cities in China. Several attractions, but traffic jams during morning and evening.
Nice and organized City easy to travel around with Taxi and or Metro system. Lots of places for eating and ppl watching.
The walking street is a must with 500 or so shops along the street.
shanghai is where good memories are made in. so many places to go to. the transportation system is very commendable.
the people speak english so tourists won't have a hard time going around. old streets abound. signages have english translations. the city is well balanced in terms of historical places to go to and old and modern architectural buildings and skyscrapers. i can't wait to see shanghai in the year 2020 when the blueprint of the city will be completed.
If You never been in Shanghai, You never been in China) It is very modern and fast city. City for business, for active peoples, city for any tipe of relax and night life.
We been in Beijing, but Sh - is #1))
