"I have been to Shanghai many times with my wife and two teenage children. It was the first time that we stayed in Crown Plaza Hotel and we will definitely come back. It is a very nice hotel of western standards, with very big and clean rooms. The main reason we booked that hotel is because it would accommodate all four of us in one room so we didn't have to book two rooms, as it is usually the case. The restaurant was very good, just a bit expensive. The only disadvantage I would say was the location, as it was quite far from the city centre, and approximately 15 minutes walking to the nearest subway station. However you can easily get a taxi, and it is relatively cheap. We plan to visit Shanghai soon and we will definitely book at this hotel again. I highly recommend it for its high quality service and a value for money, especially for a family."

"Apart from the location of the hotel, which is quite far from any amenities, the rest were great! The staff were superb, they were responsive, intuitive, and just simply perfect. The food was great too, especially the desserts. On top of that, everything in the hotel is new and well-maintained, including the very nice gym and pool. The hotel exudes luxury in all aspects. I give a thumbs up to the hotel. The sales manager, Clara, also helped us organize the meeting and ceremony perfectly. I can’t find anything to fault this hotel on, except for the location, which in my opinion cannot be helped. You choose where you stay. I gave a 5 stars for location because I just didn’t want the rating of the hotel to drop by one bit. Cheers."

"I see other reviews that the staffs where rude and not helpful, it was otherwise. There was definitely a language barrier, but they tried to bridge that as much as they can- with a phone app. Advise: download this iTranslate on your phone to make your life a lot easier. Now breakfast was not the best, but to what standard are you measuring- from the country where you from or from China. There’s a lot that I didn’t like on that, but there’s no stopping you to go around the corner to eat, there’s a lot of small shops- price of food outside is very cheap, but remember get the app- none of the people outside speaks other there own language. The bed was hard, it’s made of a hard spring laid with a board and covered with an inch or inch and a half of foam. For me, I liked it- good for my back, but for you who like a soft mattress, maybe you won't. Extra perks, our check out was at 12 noon, our flight was at night. They let us leave our baggage as we go out to the city-Oriental Pearl TV Twr."

"This is a great hotel in Shanghai in which I usually stay. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. I particularly enjoy the infinity swimming pool at the top with a great view on the city. The hotel is well located as well: close to the Yu Garden, the Bund, Nanjing Road (shopping street) and Pudong. The metro station is just next to the hotel."

"Intercontinental Shanghai Jing’an has the best concierge team. They certainly went beyond their core duties to make our stay a comfortable and memorable one. During our stay, we encountered typhoon Lekima, Lorenzo shielded us from the rain while we were waiting for our transport just outside the main lobby. What a gentleman! Jerry is an epitome of “service with a smile”. Always smiley and friendly. He helped us many times with transport arrangements and navigation. Reggie, another wonderful staff, who queued 2 hours to buy the speed train tickets just for us. We are extremely happy and grateful for this team of staff. They have made such a big difference to our stay. Besides the top notch service, the hotel has a good breakfast spread. Very clean and beautifully decorated rooms and public area too. You might think our holiday was ruined by the typhoon, however, the people have made it such a memorable and comfortable one. 👍 "

"This is my most pleasant hotel stay in China in the last two years. The Shanghai Marriott Hotel Parkview was new, grand but welcoming. Its staff - front desk, concierge, housekeeping and F&B joints were polite, caring (a concierge staff offered to carry two shopping bags for me to my room on one of the days as I walked in with some purchases)and cheerful. The room was very good, with clean comfortable beds and pillows. Housekeeping was detailed and thorough, giving me the impression that I moved to a fresh new room everyday. Breakfast buffet spread was rich and tasty. The hotel is reasonably sited with easy access to the subway and the expressways, making it easy to reach city centre. All in, a very pleasant experience for me and I would be going back for more."

"I stay in the Grand Mercure very often and it is my choice for hotel in Shanghai, mainly because of the location, next to the train station and on top of a metro. The down side is that it is a little farther away from some of the livelier areas that you may want to visit, but the taxis all know the train station so there is little confusion. Check in was smooth as always, but i noticed a girl who was being trained at the same time, which wasn't a bother, but she was left pretty much alone to check me out a few days later and messed up the bill, not her fault she should have been more closely supervised. The room size is very good, though the classic is a little small and some rooms don't have windows, so i don't think they should be selling those at all if the consider themselves a 5 star hotel, but we were given an upgrade, so mustn't grumble. The room comfort is excellent and it has everything you could wish for, housekeeping have obviously worked hard. I haven't tried the spa or gym so cant comment but breakfasts are very nice. The only downside i would have is getting a taxi, depending on who is working it seems service can differ. With 3 doormen standing outside at one stage none of them wanted to help us to get a taxi, again with 5 star rating comes 5 star expectations. though on previous attempts i have seen one doorman go the extra mile to ensure we got a taxi in the cold and wet. So i suppose it depends on who is working. Finally, they seemed to have increased their prices on Agoda, there was a sudden jump in price of about 20 per cent on average a few months ago, but nothing has changed in the hotel. This has left me looking at other hotels a bit more closely when booking now. Even though it looks like a negative review, it is only a couple of staff issues that i feel need bringing up."
