The Elephant Corridor Hotel
Sigiriya Rock Front,Sigiriya - View on map
"This is a beautiful resort and all rooms are massive villas with private plunge pools. The staff are wonderful and always smiling and happy. Close to Sigiriya and Minnelya for day trips. You get around this massive resort on free bicycles. The pool is lovely set right into the bush surrounds with hammocks and a bar next to it. It felt so peaceful. Breakfast was the best I have had anywhere in Sri Lanka. Would highly recommend this hotel which is normally expensive in peak season but if you go in Sept you can get some great deals.! Check it out."

Heritance Kandalama
Kandalama Lake Front,Sigiriya - View on map
"We stayed at the hotel for two nights. Our intention was to have some rest in the interim of our trip in Sri Lanka. As we was on the car, we also used the hotel as a spot to visit Sigiriya and Dambulla cave temple. The hotel has the excellent location in the forest with the lake view, where we had an opportunity to see a magnificent sunshine. It is very eco-friendly and we met monkeys and bird nests on the territory. We had a panoramic lake-view room. It was clean, quite and had all necessary. The restaurant provides various European, Asian and Sri Lankan food, the quality and choice was really good. "

Kalundewa Retreat
Dambulla,Sigiriya - View on map
"Although the place is quite expensive, it is just amazing!!! no wonder it is almost always booked. We booked the romantic chalet and it is just breath taking. The whole room is made of glass with a private dipping pool and complete privacy. This is ideal for a romantic getaway (If price is not the factor for you) Agoda gives the best price for booking at this retreat. The common pool was recently opened and is filled with natural spring water. It is so clean that you can actually drink the water (yes, you could even drink the water!!!) there are not even traces of chlorine and you will be refreshed after your dip in the pool. All places are accessible using the round the clock golf cart Staff was very helpful and courteous. Chef Dinesh was outstanding. the food he served was the best I have had in Sri Lanka. He goes out of his way to make you feel special. He will even make custom food orders for you as per your taste. If I ever visit Sri Lanka I will definitely not miss this place."

Wild Grass Nature Resort
Kandalama Lake Front,Sigiriya - View on map
"If you're after some peace and quiet and to enjoy the tranquility of nature, look not further. The villas are separated from one another which gives you the feeling of complete seclusion. I had the two-storey villa which had a balcony on the second floor with a view of the lake which was great to wake up to. Kumar and his team are incredibly friendly (as were most people that I encountered in Sri Lanka!), and were particularly helpful in arranging the best mode of transport to my next destination. I will certainly stay again on my next trip to the area and would certainly recommend this to fellow travellers looking for peace and quiet."

Amaya Lake Dambulla
Kandalama Lake Front,Sigiriya - View on map
"We stayed here on our first night in Sri Lanka and after a long and hot day of travelling it was an absolute delight to be able to have our first night in such a lovely spot on the lake with lots of wildlife. We enjoyed the pool and the rooms were great with an enormous bed, seperate lounge area and big bathroom. We were exhausted so had room service for dinner which was tasty but could not compare to the amazing breakfast buffet. We stuck to the Sri Lankan food and it was a great introduction to the tasty food we had to look forward to during our trip. The location was perfect too as it was close to Dambulla and Sigiriya."

Traveler impressions of Sigiriya

More about Sigiriya

Sigiriya is located in Sri Lanka’s Matale District, and is home to a great deal of the country’s cultural and historical heritage.

The city is connected by bus to Sigiriya’s nearest city of Dambulla, which is in turn connected to bigger cities such as Kandy. Dambulla is a few kilometers outside of Sigiriya, and there are many hotels near the Dambulla Main Bus Station for those who may choose to stay near transportation. Getting around in Sigiriya is best done either by foot or the local three-wheeled taxis known as tuk-tuks.

Sigiriya has a very rich history and is home to heritage sits such as the Sigiriya Citadel, one of the most famous places in this city. Enjoy an entire day of exploring this large formation, perhaps even climb to the summit and take in the views of the rest of the city.

Pidurangala Temple is a unique landmark that serves as not only a place of worship and meditation but also an opportunity for an incredible hike through forests and rocky staircases and cavernous adventures. It’s truly a unique experience for a day spent getting to see and touch some of the oldest rock formations in the area.

There’s much more to see and experience in Sigiriya, and the interactive map on this page is a great way to find out where the attractions and hotels can be found in this interesting city.
