"Mold and mildew stains on the walls. Multiple water staining areas throughout the ceiling. Even the toilet roll of tissue in the bathroom was damp. We dared not to shower from the presence of the bathroom. Bathroom door was coming off the hinges. All base board trimming in room missing. It was our worst stay in Myanmar, and we paid the most for it ($38US). English speaking skills were minimal. The only thing I would credit them on was a good breakfast."

"In reading the reviews for mid-range hotels in Sittwe, it wasn't promising. The Memory is about two years old and spotless. The staff is very friendly. It is situated on a quiet street and walking distance to the River Valley Restaurant. We highly recommend this hotel, it is good value for the money in Myanmar."

"This is a perfectly fine option in Sittwe. I stayed in the second category room, not the standard, so perhaps that had something to do with it, but I found the room to be quite comfortable and clean, with coffee/tea service and nice minibar, hot shower, comfortable bed... nothing to complain about. Great view of the flight of the bats in the evening from their roof terrace, which is a wonderful spot to drink a beer in the breezy evening air... standing up, however, because they have no tables or chairs up there. Seriously, if they started a proper cafe terrace, they could make some extra cash from beer-buying foreigners enjoying the sunset and bats show. Something to think about, Shwe Thazin. "
