More about Sukabumi

Sukabumi is a nature explorer’s retreat on the southern slope of Mt. Gede-Mt. Pangrango National Park. The area is popular for camping, spelunking, mountain trekking, and a range of other outdoor activities. The area was quite popular with wealthy tea plantation owners during the Dutch colonial days, and to this day, the cool climate and beautiful scenery continues to attract travelers.

Whether it be on land or water, above ground or below ground, Sukabumi is an ultimate outdoor experience for travelers. Popular areas for campers include the national park, the Mt. Salak camping ground, and the Buniayu camping ground. Those looking to get down and dirty can do exactly that with the Buniayu Adventure. This caving expedition takes travelers 45 meters below the earth along a 1.5km trail, complete with vertical drops, stalagmites and stalactites, and mud pools. Opportunities for rafting are found along the Citatih River and Citarik River, both adrenaline-fueled challenges. Not too far away are the beaches of Karanghawu and Cimaja. These are hot spots for surfers and the site of international surfing competitions. The city of Sukabumi is a modest one with some sites to see, including the Grand Mosque Masjid Agung, the Catholic church, Bethel, and the police academy.
